The most beautiful hotel I have ever had the pleasure of staying at. The views, the old world elegance, the attentive and charming service. It is all just exquisite. I cannot wait to come back to Camogli and this precious gem of a resort. If you can make your way I cannot endorse enough, the best decision we made for our ten day adventure through Tuscany and Liguria. .

Truth be told, this was not our first choice in the area. We had out eyes set on a small 6 room boutique hotel...but it was totally booked. Hotel Cenobio is larger with about 100 rooms but truly is a comfortable and lovely place with a pretty perfect location and as close to the beach as you can get. It's classic Italian hotel with beautiful gardens and romance. The grounds were pristine and everyone that we encountered was extremely friendly and helpful. It was also nice to see other local business owners hanging out at the bar. The rooms are well appointed. We had a suite that didn't quite feel like a suite. It was basically a hotel room with a side room, but that's ok, at least we had the extra space for our luggage. We had views to the ocean, thankfully! The rooms were super clean as well. Breakfast is served daily in one of the dining rooms with huge windows looking out to the gorgeous ocean. Breakfast is an array of fresh fruit, cheeses, bread, pastries, eggs, cure meats and more. The coffee was mediocre, which is really sad and unacceptable for Italy- period. Most days my cappuccino was piping hot. They have some room to improve. But overall breakfast was satisfactory. What really makes this place is the the private beach. It's perfection! Tons of loungers are available and free of charge. The beach, which is quite rocky even has a ladder to ease into the water. There is a pool if you don't want to get in the ocean...but you're in the riveria...so skip the pool! We were clearly there during slow season, as the restaurant above the beach was closed for the rest of the season, but I imagine in peak summer months it's full service. This hotel was super comfortable, elegant and clean. It lacked the intimate and more local vibe we usually go for when we pick hotels, but it's definitely a nice place all across the board.

Comfortable, luxurious, and convenient. Located just on the edge of town, free parking is offered to all guests and there is no driving through ZTL zones. The grounds are impeccable and tropical with colors and flowers and palms everywhere. The location is utterly stunning. Up on a cliff a bit over the water, the views reach both ways down the coast. The breakfast room (which also serves as one of the main restaurants) has giant windows that make you feel like you are in a painting. Just a two minute walk and you are on the main boardwalk with all the cafes and restaurants and shops Camogli has to offer. The grocery store, several other cafes, and several produce stores are a short walk up the hill. The private beach sealed the deal for me. Plenty of loungers were always available either on the beach or the little sun decks & jetties and the attendants were happy to set up for either sun or shade. The shore is not sand but small rocks - I had no trouble navigating but many others kept on sandals. There is also a diving platform down the small paved jetty that allowed easy entry into the water if you didn't want to walk in on the rocks. The floating barrier detracted a bit from the scenery but kept the water free of debris. It was also sometimes a little difficult to tell if lounges were available or being saved. The pool was large and clean and had great views from the cliff. Our lunch at the bar was alright, the trofie and shrimp were good but very oily. Breakfast was outstanding - ridiculous selection of pastries, fruits, hot dishes, meats, cheeses, etc. We had dinner once on the property and were treated to an almost private experience in the dining room and a delicious dinner of whole roasted sea bass. We walked to a local pasta shop for lunch and brought it back for a quiet lunch in the hotel garden. Our room was cool and comfortable with a fridge and luxury sized toiletries. Staff was friendly and helpful. I hope someday we can return.

We tried the restaurant - S. Valentine's menu - and were not disappointed. The menu was sophisticated yet not discomfortingly chic, daring yet not disrespectful to tradition. Service was very attentive and courteous, and the location has a wonderful view on the sea and the borgo.

We love the Dogi. It's easy to park, check in, and close to everything. The staff is helpful and friendly. The amenities are outstanding. We loved laying out by the pool, taking in the amazing scenery. The breakfast was outstanding. So many good things to choose from including local specialties. Their Foccacia is probably the best I've had and I lived 2 years of my life in Genoa proper and I know good Foccacia. It's the perfect place for a relaxing, charming, and romantic vacation. read more

We stayed at this hotel in 2019 and had a positive experience that we were excited to return. While the property was a little dated even then, the price was fair for a four- star hotel. Unfortunately, our recent stay was a very different experience. The location remains excellent and the buffet breakfast good. However, our room and surroundings, was a major disappointment, especially considering the price of €482 per night for a classic double. We were assigned a room on floor 2, in the rear of the main building, and both room and surrounding hallway felt very tired, and need of renovation. Upon walking to our room, the carpet on the stairs were badly stained and worn. A terrible impression. Along the hallway to our room, scattered old carpets in disrepair were a poor sight. Sightly old furniture and housekeeping carts left in the hallway. Inside our room, the old shower door seal was peeling off, and poorly maintained. The bathroom fixtures old. The 2 mattresses on each of our beds, were past their prime! Both had noticeable depressions that made them feel worn out and very unsupportive, affecting quality of sleep. Mattresses in this condition should be replaced long ago, especially at a hotel charging nearly 500€ per night! Very unacceptable. Small details added up--complimentary water only on the first day, and never replenished. At this price point, that felt stingy and below a four star hotel. We asked to change rooms, but were told there were none available for our first night, and then only, after asking again, did they show us another category for a following night. We were only staying 3 nights, and didn't want to pack up again and move to another room. When checking out I mentioned the above comments about the room and old stained carpet in hallway, and was told that our room was supposedly the next on the renovation phase. The receptionist said that renovations were being done in phases. Well, if that is the case, they should never charged €482 per night for an old room, they knew was in poor condition! We've stayed in many four-star hotels throughout Europe, that cost less and offered much higher quality accommodations. Based on the stay, the room did not justify the nightly rate. I would only recommend Cenobio Dei Dogi only for its nice location, not for the value. read more

A paradise on the Tyrethian Sea. My wife didn't tell me how much it cost, but it was worth it. The perfect place to relax, and try to forget the nightmare of traveling from West Palm to Milan. Customs sucks. Traveling sucks. Anyway , the view of the city and and sea is amazing. The room was perfect. The hotel also has a restaurant and a bar that serves drinks and snacks during the beautiful sunset. They have a pool, and a free private beach attached to the hotel. Everyone who worked there were very nice, helpful and diligent with there duties. The hotel is pristine. This was the best hotel I have ever stayed at. Period. read more

Beautiful hotel in an incredible setting. Everyone from the front desk staff to the parking valets to the wait staff in the restaurant were polite and helpful. The daily breakfast buffet included freshly baked pastries, juices and savory foods including cheeses and sliced meats. Highly recommended for a relaxing stay away from the crowds at Cinque Terre. Easy to visit other scenic places including PortoDino by train or car. read more

Precious Seaside Hotel, with a delicious breakfast buffet included, a fun bar area with great snacks and great customer service ... The only downfalls were that It did not have air-conditioning in the rooms, which wasn't an issue for us, but could be a big issue during the hot summer and the beds were also not the most comfortable (super stiff), but other than that, we loved the location with easy access to the little town of Camogli and the train station (just steps away), the heated pool and the staff, who even arranged to-go breakfast boxes for our early departure to the airport. We were very pleased overall. read more

this hotel is wonderful but they could do with some renovations. The room we stayed in was a bit old and run down in places. the bathroom door was ruined and other parts of the room needed to be refurbished. the lift is also quite old. in general is a great place to stay. they have a parking space which is a huge deal cause you can't park anywhere in Camogli. they have a breathtaking breakfast room and a fabulous breakfast, so overall it's great. the staff in the restaurant is extremely nice and professional. the staff at reception needs more training. once we asked the key for our room and the lady asked us: what do you want it for? so not very nice... read more

A delightful stay in a quite large, traditional Italian hotel, in a superb location with a private beach and spectacular views, out to sea, up the coast and across the town. A five minute walk to the harbor in one direction and to the start of the network of hiking trails in the other. Somewhat mundane/old fashioned decor, but well maintained. (If looking for a more contemporary, elegant and intimate hotel, this isn't it ---- public rooms are large and not particularly welcoming --- but if you're planning to be mostly outdoors the location, views, service, and attention make it an excellent choice.). Extremely helpful and pleasant staff, Comfortable, spotlessly clean, large room; huge balcony - could have had a party for a dozen - overlooking the sea, town and gardens. Excellent breakfast - but didn't eat other meals n the hotel so can't comment on the restaurant. Highly recommended and will return - particularly for location & views, general condition of the property, service and comfort. read more

I was pleasantly surprised. We had a room without a view. We had a garden view. The property is very well maintained and our room looks like it was redecorated 5 minutes before our arrival. The room had a number of electrical outlets. The internet was very good. The hotels location on the sea was fantastic. The staff is very professional, knowledgeable and friendly. The only minor complaint is there was no makeup mirror in the bathroom. We hope to go back again. read more

My wife and I had the time of our lives here at the hotel. Staff is very friendly and accommodating. The views from the pool, terrace and hotel restaurants are amazing and if you are planning a trip to Liguria I highly recommend staying here and enjoying the town of Camogli. Day trips are very easy from this hotel with the train station just a few minute walk... From Camogli you can take a boat to visit San Fruttuoso, Portofino, Santa Margherita, Genoa etc... there is even a train from Camogli that takes you directly to the Cinque Terre. This hotel is excellent. The location is amazing with views of Camogli that are unbeatable. The first time I stepped into the dining room which overlooks the whole city and the ocean, I was blown away. Breathtaking views. It is located just one street down from the train station. The staff are incredibly helpful and friendly. While they're close to the train station, it does require taking about a million stairs down to reach the hotel which means up when you leave. When we left we asked for help with our bags, they had someone drive us and our luggage up to the train station, and he even carried our bags up to the platform where we would board our train. This was especially appreciated since we had heavy bags and no elevators. One night, we found a bug in our room (after leaving the patio doors open all day) and they promptly sent someone up to help take care of it. The pool and private beach are nice. Lots of sun chairs. Breakfast included eggs, bacon, cold cuts in addition to a wide assortment of pastries. I would definitely stay here again and would highly recommend it to others. read more

Wonderful location in beautiful Camogli. Nice separate beach and kayak for guests (but access to beach was somewhat odd having to walk thru the hotel lounge/bar patio). Room could have used a little update/refresh but the sea view was worth the upgrade. Staff were nice but not overly excited to give us suggestions for what to do outside of the resort. Breakfast offered was well appointed. Camogli itself is amazing, easy access by train. Has boat dock to visit all of the surrounding Italian Riviera cities. Amazing hiking with easily marked trails. read more

Hotel Cenobia is perfectly situated on the Ligurian Sea with views of Comoglia, a salt water pool, a rocky beach (there are no sand beaches to speak of) and plenty of terraces to enjoy the sea. The staff is helpful and ready with suggestions of things to see and do. Food is quite good, parking is free which is a plus as Comoglia is quite a small town. It is only a 2 block walk to the train, hikes, restaurants, and ferries. Our room was the least expensive but also quite small - it could only accommodate 1 bedside table so would opt for an upgrade. There were a number of families as well as many couples and a few people planning for their destination wedding at the hotel. It is definitely a place we would return to. read more

We were very unhappy with the service at the hotel. Considering the cost of the hotel - almost 500E a night, we expected a luxury hotel. On the contrary the rooms are not great, you pay extra for sea view but our room was located in a shabby situation. The mattresses are terrible. Overall the service was very unattentive. The pool looks outdated. The beds at the beach are not comfortable and there is NO service at the beach. The only good thing is the wonderful location of Camogli and the private beaches. But it warrants maximum 200E a night read more

We just finished our second stay at Cenobio dei Dogi. I can't say enough about what a wonderful experience it has been and was again. If you enjoy sunbathing and swimming, its situation directly on the sea makes for such a wonderful experience - not to mention IMAX-like views, especially from the hotel's breakfast room with its huge sea-facing windows. We found our dinners in the hotel's two dining rooms to be the best of all of our meals in Camogli. I call the hotel "the land of yes" because no matter what you ask for or whom you ask, the staff finds a way to provide what you want or need. On our second visit this time, we spent more time at cocktail hour in the beautiful bar, ordering drinks while enjoying the copious snacks provided gratis, and playing Scrabble. It was just one in a string of endlessly relaxing and fun moments at the hotel. Some posters have noted that the hotel's furnishings seem a bit dated. I suppose that's true. So if you're looking for trendy, up to the minute, interior design, this would not be the place for you. But Cenobio dei Dogi is spotless, comfortable, welcoming and luxurious in its own way. And you'd pay literally four times as much to stay at a comparable place in Portofino 10 miles away. read more

First time at this hotel. It was nice. I would go back. I was travelling solo. My room had no view but that is all that was available. When I checked in reception was rushed and it felt like my two questions were a burden! They indicated food was available in the bar - turns out it was not! The bar manager said no food now after 4pm and I said its 325 so no food! Pool was nice. Beach was nice. Used both sets of loungers and swam in both. Restaurant the first night was so so. The ag Manager is a Mr. Grumpy. He also would not give me a two person window table the following morning (on my birthday) but did to the two sets of couples behind me in line! Hmmm. Fortunately there was a kind Manager on in the evening and the next morning who gave me a good table for views! Avoid the eggs. Both mornings I tried the scrambled eggs and they were cold and overly salty. Typical Italian breakfast and coffee nothing special. I would go back again as I liked the vistas, bar views and beach but some staff need to smile a bit or contemplate changing professions! read more

A very relaxing and comfortable place to while away your days by the salt water pool or return after a busy day for a well earned aperitif looking at the vast expanse of sea and wonderful sunsets. Well placed to catch a train to Genoa and the villages that make up Cinque Terre. Surprisingly nice food at La Playa restaurant. Very short walk to a street with restaurants, shops, harbour and church - pleasant to wander around. Thumbs up for Lucca, the restaurant manager, pleasant staff of which there are many, and reception who helped me find a doctor. Tips - if you like to swim in the sea, take rubber shoes to walk over the large stones. Do try Izoa restaurant - amazing food at a different level. Don't forget to use anti-mosquito spray at night - they are vigorous and I had a bad reaction but can highly recommend Gentalyn Beta cream for the terrible itch. If you can, book train tickets online, as the machines at Camogli station are temperamental and although there is an office nearby (not in the station), it is closed at the weekend. read more

Cenobio dei Dogi is addictive. I first visited two years ago and I was hooked. This was my third time staying here in three years and we have already booked our stay for next year. It is an absolutely magical place. The staff are wonderful, professional and kind every step of the way, from the incredibly helpful front desk staff and the concierge (they found me an electrical adaptor when I didn't have the right one), to the fabulous Davide at the bar who recommended smoked Negronis to us (do not sleep on the smoked Negroni, that is true cocktail art), to Simone at the beach kiosk who brought us delicious breaded anchovies and spritzes with flair and friendliness, to the pool staff, to the sweet housekeeper who gave me armfuls of the lovely toiletries. The location is like nowhere else. Breakfast with a view of Camogli's jewel of a bay is incomparable. I can't wait to go back. read more

This four-star resort hotel exceeded our expectations at every turn. The accommodations, service, dining and amenities were all outstanding. From buffet breakfast to cocktail lounge and full dinner service, all of our meals there were delicious and beautifully presented. The staff were friendly, knowledgeable and gracious at all times. The scenery and landscaping are breathtaking. Amenities like a saltwater pool, private beaches and the elevator service from beach level below to the train depot level above add to the overall ambiance of an easy, relaxed lifestyle. We especially enjoyed our amazing dinner at La Playa while viewing the glowing horizon outside and the ocean beach directly below. Overall this resort earns our A plus, and we plan to return often. read more

This is a beautiful and well run hotel . Ideally situated at the edge of the bay in Camogli . The staff are very helpful from the moment that you arrive . Nothing was too much trouble . The maids visited the rooms at least twice a day for cleaning , towel changing , opening and closing shutters to suit the hot weather. The breakfast was fantastic in the large restaurant with great views of the sea and town. The restaurant staff were superb especially the head waiter/ manager . We had 3 evening meals in the restaurant that were fantastic. The pool is lovely and the tiered beach area with ample sun beds and towels provided . Worth every penny . The hotel accommodates families with well behaved dogs , couples and retired persons very well. Well done everybody . read more

Me and my wife had a lovely stay at Hotel Cenobio dei Dogi. The staff was so friendly and it felt very familiar. The property and views are amazing and it was so relaxing spending a few days on the sunbeds by the pool and on the beach. Breakfast and dinner at one of the restaurants was also great. We will certainly come back many times! read more
