The room upstairs was a bit smaller than expected, which did dampen things at first. However the clean sheets, complimentary coffee and tea, strong water pressure, and the uber amazing heated towel rack really turned things around. The hotel even gave us a complimentary bottle of champagne and a WiFi hotspot to travel Paris with (since we stayed for a week). Location is off the Main Street, but still very close to the busy areas and near subway stops. If you don't speak French, the concierge can help you make reservations for restaurants or museums or other activities. Checkout was easy, and calling a cab via the concierge was a piece of cake. Overall, a lovely experience that I would highly recommend anyone else to try. I know I'll be coming back to this hotel soon.

Insomma, while the people at the desk are for the most part quite nice, even supplying you with an umbrella for the rain ( and we did have 2 nights where it did rain quite heavily) the downturn happened upon our departure and seeing that our bill included 2 child size bottles of water we did not drink. In fact, I took them out, put them on top of the fridge UNopened ( I needed to make room for OUR cheese and bottle of water) in clear view that the staff could see they were unopened. To add insult to this situation, having charged our card already, the gentleman at the front desk basically refused to do a chargeback credit claiming he couldn't and then suggested we take the bottles anyway (we did in the end and I regret not having taken the spit of Champagne). Aside this issue--note to self: DON'T move the stuff in the fridge EVER, our stay here was fine for the few days we were here. Know that despite the photos, the rooms are a 1/3 maybe even 1/4 size the room you get in North America. They are very clean and well appointed and though a weak signal, they do provide free wi-fi. The other mishap is that when we used the shower, somehow the water leaks out at the base of the basin on to the floor. Unless we didn't know how to shut the door--boh, I am not an engineer, but when the rubber connects it usually means the door is shut--if you go and are successful, let me know the secret ;-) Something we forgot and regret is that the first morning we were there (Christmas Day) we had breakfast at the hotel....BIG MISTAKE not repeated a second time because it is more expensive (the cappuccino was TERRIBLE-- I stand by my statement that the French are excellent at many things....espresso or anything related to this beverage NOT) and the cafes were/are open thus, you will be more satisfied and happily satiated. And this concluded our stay in Paris :-)

We didn't hear any noise at night which is partly due to a wonderfully insulated window. After a long day of touring, it's so nice to come back to our hotel and walk a block to the magnificent Jardin de Luxembourg to rest our weary feet. All of the staff was very welcoming and ready to answer any questions you might have. A special thank you goes out to Sandy, who helped us negotiate a ticklish situation with an angry taxi cab driver. The Elysa shas a very high standard of cleanliness, and the rooms are cleaned every day. Cleanliness is probably most important to us. We loved the design of the room, which, by American standards is small, but that is to be expected. The bathroom was modern and clean and the shower had great water pressure.. The bed and pillows were very comfortable. Two twin beds were pushed together to create a queen and it worked very well. Students from the Sorbonne and other schools add a nice energy to the area make it an ideal location. There are brasseries,cafés, and restaurants in the immediate area. I know this will be our "go to" place the next time we visit Paris.

The neighborhood is safe and has many wonderful shops and charming French restaurants. Front desk is manned 24 hours. The building itself is iconic Paris about 7 stories tall. Rooms are and clean but plainly furnished. Beds and pillows are super comfortable and shower is great. Breakfast in the morning is fantastic. Our room, 504, had wrap around balconies and I have posted three pics from the balconies, including a view of the Eiffel Tower which was gorgeous lit up at night. Price was very good. Front desk staff is very helpful and are glad to help with advance tickets to museums, car services, reservations, anything. Here are the drawbacks. The hotel is going through extensive reservations expected to be completed by summer 2019. So, there is work being done during standard work hours. That also means paper on the floor to protect carpets in the hall and bare newly plastered walls in the hallway while they wait to redecorate. The elevator is tiny so plan on waiting patiently if you are on an upper floor. Some items in the room needed fixing (personal safe and a window handle) but once we told the front staff, they were taken care of. Front entrance and lobby are a little plain but I assume they will get a facelift after the room renovations are completed.

One of the Most Disappointing Luxury Hotel Experiences I've Ever Had: Please note this only abut…read morethe HOTEL BAR: I never imagined I would be writing a review like this because the bar at Hotel Regina had been one of my favorite places in Paris. I had visited several times over the years, and the staff even recognized me and welcomed me back. Unfortunately, what happened on this visit was so appalling that I will never return. I ordered a €25 glass of champagne, which was served in a coupe glass alongside small dishes of cashews and olives. Within minutes I noticed flies swarming around the food. Then the unthinkable happened: one of the flies landed on the rim of my champagne glass and fell directly into my drink. I immediately called the waiter over. He apologized, removed the glass, and brought me another. Hoping that would solve the problem, I covered the dishes of nuts and olives with a napkin because the flies were clearly attracted to them. It only got worse. Almost immediately, more insects began gathering on top of the napkin. Then I watched another insect crawl around the rim of my replacement champagne glass. At that point I was completely disgusted and had lost all confidence in the cleanliness of the establishment. There was no way I was going to continue drinking. I politely explained that I should not be expected to pay for champagne served in these conditions. Astonishingly, the waiter insisted that I pay anyway--even though I hadn't even consumed a full glass because insects had contaminated it. Charging a guest for insect-infested champagne is unacceptable for any establishment. For a luxury Paris hotel, it's inexcusable. Instead of correcting the situation immediately, they handed me the bar manager's business card and told me to complain the next day. I had the concierge at my nearby hotel call on my behalf, only to be told there would be no refund. Only after I returned to the United States and endured weeks of emails and a frustrating back-and-forth did they finally agree to reimburse me. Even then, instead of simply refunding the credit card they had charged, they required my banking information and sent an international wire transfer--a completely unnecessary hassle for a €25 charge. What baffles me most is that this happened during chilly weather, not the height of summer. Why were there so many flies inside a supposedly elegant hotel bar? It certainly made me question the sanitation standards behind the scenes. Luxury hospitality isn't measured by chandeliers or expensive champagne. It's measured by how you respond when something goes wrong. Hotel Regina failed spectacularly. A manager should have apologized sincerely, comped the drink immediately, and done everything possible to restore a loyal customer's confidence. Instead, they argued over €25. They didn't just lose a customer--they lost someone who had happily recommended this bar for years. My advice is simple: don't go. Paris is filled with beautiful hotel bars where guests are treated with respect and hygiene isn't an afterthought. Hotel Regina is no longer one of them.

All three. Simultaneously. Paris, performing for you as if it had been rehearsing. The freshly repainted walls and what appeared to be a new carpet suggest a management that still cares -- one that invests quietly, without announcement, in the dignity of the room itself. The front desk staff and bellmen were, I must confess, genuinely gracious -- not the performative warmth one endures at lesser establishments, but something resembling sincerity. The nights were quiet. Remarkable on all counts. And yet. One does not review a five-star establishment with the lenient eye reserved for lesser addresses. The standards are set by the classification itself -- and it is against those standards that what follows must be read. The glass table bore the evidence of a cleaning effort that had, somewhere along the way, lost its ambition -- smear marks left mid-gesture, as though the housekeeper had been called away by something more pressing and never returned. Beneath the sofa, a champagne foil wrapper remained, a quiet relic of a previous guest's celebration that no one had thought to retire. And the toilet. I will say only this: something had been there before us. Something that pre-dated our arrival. Something that, in a five-star establishment overlooking the most photographed skyline in the world, ought to have been addressed before the key was handed over. I will leave the imagination to do the rest. The voiturier/valet was otherwise engaged -- with his telephone -- as we arrived. We retrieved our own luggage. We walked to the door ourselves. One is left to wonder whether it was the device that blinded him, or whether, upon a brief assessment of our presentation, he simply concluded we were not his concern. In front of Hôtel Regina Louvre. In Paris. There is something else worth saying -- and I do not say it lightly. Les Hôtels Baverez has been in the hands of the same family since 1900. Four generations. Three hotels -- the Regina, the Raphael, the Majestic -- each one preserved not as a museum piece, but as a living, breathing Parisian institution. The room has everything you need: hair dryer (more downstairs if you need a different one than the one in the room), mini fridge, little makeup area, heater etc. Check in is at 3pm but they were able to get me in earlier which i found extremely satisfying on arrival from the US. More importantly I was kindly and professionally warned by Patricia that if it was not possible, they would take care of my luggage. PATRICIA was great! She is friendly and helpful and even rescued me (with kindness) with my safe in the room. Also, the wifi works and the hotel is so well located!!!! Blocks from places des vosges , le marais (my favorite neighborhood in aml of Paris), place de la republic , metro stops, etc!

She took the time to give us a map and orient us to the hotel's location in relation to all of the major landmarks. We rode the very cute and very small elevator up to our room on the 6th floor. There are only about six rooms on each floor, so it is small and quaint in the best of ways. Upon opening the door to our room, we were greeted with the most lovely king suite. The suite was well appointed, with a large closet and shelves for storing your stuff, a mini fridge, a TV, etc. The wallpaper was totally intriguing, covered in black and white sketches of different Paris scenes and landmarks. Upon further inspection, we found that the wallpaper wasn't actually wallpaper! It was some kind of fabric wall covering like a canvas stretched over a frame. It was super cool and so representative of this intimate hotel. In our room, we also found a lovely personalized welcome note. I cannot say enough about how accommodating the people at this hotel are. We were assured that there is always someone at the front desk 24 hours a day, and indeed there was. On Christmas Day, we returned to our room to find a handwritten Christmas note along with some little treats from the nearby Maison du Chocolat, which we learned ourselves is NOT cheap. Manuela was a tremendous source of information for us, giving us directions, recommendations and helping us with special requests. The bed was very comfortable, our suite was clean and quiet. The bathroom was fine. We will absolutely return next time we're in Paris.

Each balcony room was perfectly appointed and prettily decorated, comfortable beds but most importantly spotless (and cleaned each day). There are luxurious guest robes and many soft towels. The bathroom was so pretty and also spotless. The staff treats you like family and they are friendly, warm and so helpful. Prior to our arrival Alavia arranged airport transfers for our party of 6 as well as multiple restaurant reservations. While we were there, the staff arranged for our transfer to Versailles and helped us with reservations on two more occasions. All recommendations they made were wonderful. The lobby is also so comfortable and they serve breakfast downstairs in the hotel. The night before our departure, a thank you note and chocolate was left in my room as well as a tote bag. Such a special treat for us on a night we were sad to be leaving the next day. We fell in love with Paris and hope to go back. If we do, we will stay at Hotel Signature again!
