Outside of that the hotel is conveniently located 2 blocks from the Royal Albert train station. Daily hot breakfast is provided and the dining area is huge. No facecloths are provided in this hotel. Very uncomfortable and noisy Failed to advise maid service only every day, gross and when we asked trash to be taken they said sit outside door which we did, guess what after being out all day they never grabbed it smh Location , quite a walk to trains and far out unless you need to go to ExCel center When I complained of bed they were dismissive and when I wrote a complaint to Hilton manager claims they use a "Hilton approved vendor" sir idgaf, that doesn't make it right . They may have used a Hilton vendor but they def chose the cheapest damn option. Unacceptable. Beyond drab outside, weeds and dying plants -not appealing No faceclothes provided, thank God I brought my own Restaurant inside a joke ...ordered a salmon salad and omg literally a sliver of salmon on a big ass plate with a crapload of leaves..what am I?...a rabbit !? Halfass maid service, rooms need Reno and very small Absolutely no shelving or anywhere to put shower toiletries inside shower Half shower which was prone to messes Air unit finicky and we had to request for it to be "unlocked" WTH you knew we were in room why is it not already unlocked Digital key would never work for the hallway doors.. but it worked for my hotel room smh Tv volume would not go above a certain amount...weird! Rooms are tidy yet wee, as you'd expect from Moxy, where the idea is "get out and do something". The room amenities are sufficient, though of course no washcloths or hand lotion can be found. Mill in the lobby after hours, or catch up on work tasks throughout the day at the plentiful tables or chairs. Breakfast is extra, but the wide variety buffet should please most folks, and it beats scrounging something up nearby. You're a quick jaunt from the DLR to get all places you desire, with LCY across the water and LHR accessible via Elizabeth. Those attending something at ExCel will find it convenient as well. This whole area feels safe as sort of "hotel row" and university campus down the road. Enjoy a pleasant mile-plus path along the water across the street, or spend your leisure time with the canal rowers. You'll have to venture out for dining, but you'll have that saved 50% hotel room money to spend, so you'll be happy.

Typically, I stay at Marriott-affiliated hotels. Upon entering Moxy, the urban, cool, and fun vibe…read moreis what I expected. The hotel offers board games, an arcade game, and even a Pokémon decor. The arcade and board games are not offered in all Moxy locations. The hotel itself is actually a 4 star but I had a safety issue which lowered the stars. On 1/18, I was peacefully sleeping alone when the fire alarm abruptly went off in my hotel room, creating a distressing situation. Despite no one answering my calls through my phone, I headed downstairs after seeing another guest using the elevator. Surprisingly, all the receptionists were not on the phone, and I shared my experience. They apologized, attributing the alarm to a toaster issue, and casually shifted the conversation to breakfast. On a positive note, the staff here aren't solely receptionists; they have additional roles, including cashier and server duties. With all the responsibilities, they are doing a good job. While there's no room service, you can order food from the bar. I do want to note that all menu items are frozen including burger buns. Inquiring about the available dishes is advisable. A particular black female staff there went above the beyond by offering to make an egg croissant sandwich since the flatbread portion serves 2-3 people. I declined due to high butter reasons but I still appreciated the offering. I do wanted to add that food orders at the bar is until 9:30 pm and not 10pm. Situated amidst other hotels, Moxy lacks nearby dining options, with only a Chinese restaurant across the street. Ordering from Uber Eats is a common choice. The compact room size did not have a closet or iron board. There is an iron room. I appreciated the small side tables and a hot water machine. Complimentary drinks and a voucher for ice tea with or without alcoholic beverages was a nice touch. As for area of improvement, I would improve on safety. I would suggest having hotel phones accessible and adding additional speakers to be in more places to be able to clearly hear announcements. I would suggest staff to have training on how to give more empathy for guest as well. I hope Moxy will make improvements so no one else will have to experience feeling unsafe in the hotel. I did write directly to them as well.

Full disclosure: I should have written this review a month ago but couldn't find the time. That…read moresaid, I would be remiss if I didn't sing the praises of the bar staff at this hotel. First, the other stuff: I didn't love the location because I wasn't going to the trade show my husband was attending. It was the perfect location for events at the Excel Center. For sightseeing, not so much. But I highly recommend it for the Excel. The quality is what I expect from Hilton - the accommodations are quite good, the restaurant food is also quite good, and the service is exceptional. So did it exceed expectations? Not much. But my expectations of Hilton properties are extremely high and they met them in every regard save one. They far exceeded my expectations at the bar. And the bar is the point of my review. After an exhausting day of travel (I met my husband at the hotel on the second last day of his trade show) I just needed a drink. I went in to the bar wishing I could get my favorite drink but not feeling very hopeful. I love a proper whiskey sour. A proper whiskey sour is made with egg white, bitters, and a cherry (in my case, several cherries.) Hardly anyplace makes them that way. The common fail is the egg white. I assume people don't want to make them that way because it's hard on the arm; you really have to shake it. A lot. But a proper one is outstanding. So I went over to the bar and inquired. Then I met the staff: Lucas, Marcu, Monika, and Sergio (I must apologize at this point because it took me so long to write this that I can't remember who had which role.) They were all fantastic! When I asked, the manager heard me inquire and immediately interjected. He said he'd be happy to go to the kitchen for an egg so the bartender could make it. When the server brought it to the table it had a cherry but was lacking bitters. So I asked if they had them to add and was immediately assured that she'd take care of it. I also asked for extra cherries. The drink returned a minute later, bitters in a pretty pattern and a pick filled with cherries. It was perfection!!! For the rest of my stay my cocktails were perfect! I ate every meal in the bar as well. I'm sure the service in the restaurant was great, but the bar staff took such good care of me that I didn't want to go anywhere else. My compliments to these individuals! They go above and beyond, making their guests feel valued. I was about to book this hotel for another trade show in September but it's already booked. I'm not surprised. Anyone who has stayed there once would want to stay again. I recommend the hotel, but the bar is a must!

If I could rate this place a zero stars I would. I've stayed at one Motel Six back in the US and to…read moresay that it would be a five star compared to this place would be an understatement. The room we had backs up to the train tracks. We had multiple trains going by every 5-10 mins. That went on until after midnight. We had no soap in the room. Even when we asked for soap, they said they'd get some for us. That never happened. When I was asking about the soap the front counter person apologized and stated he could give us a "small cup" of soap. During this interaction another patron who was very upset came down to complain that he had no toilet paper and asked why they didn't check the room for the essentials. The front desk person could only apologize. The first night was very warm in the room. We had an air conditioner, but it was locked down with a code that the front desk wouldn't share. So we had to have the window open with the loud trains going by. Oh, the stairwells and carpeted areas have a bad smell. I am not an expert by any stretch but it's either ammonia (I can only think of one possible reason for that) or mold in the stairwell/elevator area. They only clean the rooms every six days. You have to ask for clean towels. In fact, I asked for clean towels and they never delivered. They do have a breakfast buffet that costs £11 per person. It's not worth it. All in all, I'd highly recommend looking for different accommodations.

However if you want features, then you may want to look elsewhere. This location is very close to the London City Airport and for that, it's excellent. You probably won't be able to sleep well in the daytime, because it's next to the end of the runway and the jet engines are quite loud when planes take off. Once the airport spins down for the night (around 22:00), it's a quiet room. The room is very basic. Bed, chair, workspace, television. There are no lamps, there is no armoire and the hangars in the closet (which does not have doors) can't be stolen. The loo is small and functional, with a large towel and a small one, plus a shrink-wrapped bar of soap. There is no telephone, so bring your own clock if you want a wake-up call. I found the bed to be too soft, but I did manage to catch a night's rest which was all I really needed. Like I said, very basic. There is a "restaurant" in the lobby - I would have to guess that all of the stuff is microwaved from sealed packets. Not that there's anything wrong with this as long as you know that's what you're getting. If you want proper food, take a short walk across the docks to the Fox. Note that my room faced the airport - it's likely a bit quieter on the opposite side.
