What a great experience- we only stayed one night but it was lovely. Except for one broken light hahaha but this place still warrants 5 stars! As all Yelpers talk about: the rooftop terrace is a MUST!! It's stunning!! And cozy. And the staff are working so hard - so be nice to them. The restaurant there is pretty good too. I am sharing photos of a creative ravioli dish I had that impressed me. The breakfast here is ok compared to other high end hotels. I loved our room. I don't know why people calling it small (laughing face) clearly not small. Has a walk in closet for goodness sakes!! What a perfect location, wonderful staff, great accommodation. I never stayed at the Hotel St. George, but we had drinks there twice. Once, about twenty years ago, and again two weeks ago. The now called Indigo - St. George is on my favorite street in Rome, Via Giulia, although I liked it more twenty years ago. Renovations aside, the Hotel St. George is still charming, cozy, and serene in February. I could spend all day at this bar. We almost did. Our bartender was engaging, bright, and took great care of us. These days, we stay at Airbnbs, enjoying the kitchens and the space. However, if I ever return to Rome and hotels, the Hotel Indigo-St. George would be my choice. read more

We just stayed here last week and had a pleasant experience. The staff were very nice, friendly, and accommodating, which is so appreciated when you are in an unfamiliar place. Marco at the front desk was particularly nice. Spa was small, but the masseuse (Georgiana, I think her name was?) was so nice, genuine, and gave really relaxing massages. We got two from her while visiting! We were lazy and ordered room service a couple times, which, honestly, was pretty good! We never went to the restaurant but if the room service is an indicator, it seems like it would be good. It was nice to have a quiet late night dinner in the room after walking all day in the heat. (There was a small heatwave when we went, and yes, the AC worked perfectly fine ) There was one small issue when they forgot to collect our breakfast order. We had a train to catch early that morning and were hoping to eat a quick breakfast before our excursion. When the hotel realized what happened they were super quick to remedy it, which was very appreciated, and we were able to still eat breakfast before leaving without issue. I was thankful for that. Room service, maid service and turn down service were all great. Overall, good experience. Also only like a 10 minute walk to the Trastevere, which is a big tourist food spot here in Rome. We did need taxis to get to a lot of the other major attractions as it was about a 20 minute drive from most of the "bigger" things but it wasn't too bad by any means. Neighborhood felt safe, even at night. Would def recommend if you're looking for a cute place in Rome with good food. read more

It's a small boutique hotel located in the heart of Rome with nice rooms, a great bar with a fabulous bar tender and good service. The rooms are small but nice and depending on which side you face the room can be a bit noisy. I had a room facing the Main Street and it was noisy at times. The location is great and it's close walking distance to more of the main attractions in Rome. The bed was nice and the bathroom albeit small functional and well stocked. Staff were super friendly and the bar tender was excellent. A bunch of us were staying here so we had a couple of night caps at the bar. Room prices are expensive but probably average for Rome. Breakfast was also ok and it was nothing special but good enough. We didn't eat here so cannot comment on the food but there are plenty of places within a couple of minutes walk from the hotel. All in all a nice experience and I would happily come here again. read more

Amazing hotel in the center of Rome! Service: staff was very attentive and professional Room: very clean, modern and comfortable. The only thing I wish it was better was the AC in the room. Half of the time I was not sure if it was working because it just felt like a light breeze coming out of the unit Location: perfectly located from the major attractions. Everything (Vatican City, Spanish Steps, Trevi Fountain, Piazza Navona, Pantheon) was about 15 -25 minutes away by walking. The only place that was further away was the Colosseum and that was a 30 minute walk. Overall, I highly recommend this hotel! read more

If your looking for a more intimate and quiet hotel, consider staying here. The hotel itself sits on a quiet street, about a block or two off of the main thoroughfare which makes it easy to utilize public transportation or just walk where you need to go. The lobby of the hotel is arranged to prevent congestion, there is a wonderful little bar off the lobby to sit relax and have a cocktail. They also will have live music at times and do provide a good variety of small plates. Excellent variety of high end scotch! The rooms are very comfortable and large for a hotel room in Rome. My room was arranged so that the bed was well separated from the bathroom, the bathroom was located off the foyer, on the way out which was a perfect arrangement. The rooftop bar and restaurant have some very odd hours of operation and was not open but appears to be very nice. They have comfortable seating for those just wanting drinks and conversation or dinner. Obviously like everything else in room this hotel is surrounded by some excellent restaurants, cafes for coffee and gelato and plenty of shopping of course. If your looking for a juicy cheeseburger, fries and tall glass of cold milk, take a walk down to the meat market from this hotel. Cheers!! read more

I spent a week here this fall: I note that so you know the review isn't based on 1 or 2 nights at the hotel, but 7 or 8. First, the staff could not be more helpful or pleasant. Honestly. I was looking forward to practice Italian but everyone I engaged with spoke English, in most cases better than my Italian. It came in handy when you're too exhausted to translate the thoughts in your brain. The room was very comfortable, and the bed was super comfortable. I had a room overlooking the courtyard so some nights if I opened the window for some fresh air you'd hear fellow travelers in the courtyard finsihing their wine and conversation. All part of the charm of being in the Etermnal City; and if it's not for you closing the window took care of the noise. There's a restaurant and roof top bar on the top floor and you could grab breakfast or a drink depending on the time of day on the first floor. The bottom floor had a spa and gym. The location is good, depending on what your goal is in Rome. My longest walk was to get to the Colessuem but that was by choice. I found the area safe, and as local as I have seen in a city with as many tourists as Rome. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this place or stay here again. It was a quick walk to the Piaza Navona and every quicker to the Campo d'fiori. read more

Incredible hotel. Everything was perfect. From the moment of checking to checkout, it is the first time a I would say I wouldn't change anything. Located in the heart of Rome within walking distance to many many attractions, this hotel is the the sweet spot. We walked to the Vatican, Coliseum, Travi Fountain, Piazza Navona, the Pantheon, Piazza Venezia, the Roman Forum, not to mention the wonderful restaurants. Don't be pulled into tourist trap for restaurants; take Danielle's advice from the front desk. Every suggestion was memorable. After a long day of walking around, take a dip in the roman spa/jacuzzi. Also available were a steam room and Sauna. We enjoyed this before going to dinner for the evening after a long day of site seeing. The views from the rooftop bar/restaurant is amazing. The beds and pillows were very comfortable, and appreciated the nightly turn down service. For the cherry on top, each room was provided a FREE cellphone that had internet and free calling to most parts of the world. Ideal for finding places/information about your tour options/etc. without having to worry about your data plan. We are very excited to come back and are already planning our next trip. read more

The St. George is an absolute pearl in the IHG collection of hotels. We've had the pleasure in staying in many IHG offerings, including numerous Intercons and Indigos, and I must say this easily ranks at the top. It won hotel of the year a few years back according to the plaque by the elevator, which I can easily see why. Tucked away on the quiet via Guilia, the St. George is perfectly situated for a stay in Rome. An easy walk to the Vatican, a great place to take a stroll along the tree-lined Tiber, the perfect spot to jaunt to Piazza Navona, Campo d Fiori, the Pantheon, and more. We were so glad we stayed here as it ensured proximity to everything we wanted to see as well as charming walks back to our hotel every night from dinner. Booking was relatively simple. I booked online about 6 months out from our arrival. I used a mix of points and my annual free night to secure a 4 night stay. Easy peasy. From there, I made numerous requests to the concierge via email - assistance with transport from Roma Termini to the hotel, dinner bookings (Pierluigi, Taverna Trilussa, Taverna Lucifer's), an oscillating floor fan, assistance with tickets to Vatican and Colosseum. Every email was swiftly and pleasantly responded to and every single request executed flawlessly. Check-in was an absolute pleasure. James checked us in and warmly recognized us as IHG platinum members and took a moment to recognize our 10th wedding anniversary, the purpose of our trip. He upgraded our room without asking, and ensured we had everything we needed, noting we had full access to our minibar and drinks on the rooftop bar. Upon opening our door, we were delighted to see a larger than normal European guest room, decorated simply but fun with its Fiat photos. A knock on our door and we were presented a chilled bottle of prosecco and delicious canapés from the restaurant downstairs in honor of our anniversary, as well as a lovely box of chocolates. Pillows and extra towels were promptly received. We loved the auto-on/off light in our walk-in closet. The air con was a beast and working amazingly well throughout our stay; it was super quiet too. That with the oscillating floor fan meant we were extremely comfortable at night since we both like to be very cool when we sleep. We took James up on his offer for the breakfast buffet of 15 euro daily per person. With early appointments at the Vatican and Colosseum, we knew we needed to be adequately fueled to face the day. The buffet is divine and worth the cost. The variety of beverages is amazing and includes prosecco and smoothie. The scrambled eggs on the buffet - which I skip everywhere else - tasted fresh, delicious, and recently scrambled. While the bacon isn't American bacon, why eat that when there is delicious salami and mozzarella to be had? This was the healthiest breakfast buffet I've ever seen with loads of fresh fruits, nuts, yogurts, and other offerings to keep your breakfast light if you know pasta is ahead of you later that day. You can also order a la carte plated meals; we just never had time to do so as we usually had less than 20 mins to eat. Delicious cappuccino and hot tea as well. It was nice to start the day in a beautiful outdoor space over a yummy breakfast. Worth it!!! Note: we had a good breakfast close by at the Coromandel and our bill was 30 euro so figured the buffet was comparable to eating outside the hotel anyway, with less hassle! We used our free drink tickets on the rooftop bar late one night, which was stunning. You can see everything up there! A definite must! There are fantastic spots nearby that are worth mentioning. In the immediate vicinity: Enoteca Il Goccetto and the Achilli Bar in the DOM hotel. Both spots are fantastic and a must if you love wine (Enoteca) and cocktails (Achilli). We had an amazing seafood dinner at Pierluigi - spiny lobster and langoustines, oh my! We also found Taverna Lucifero, mentioned in another review for this hotel. Taverna Lucifero is TRUFFLE HEAVEN and a must visit if you love them. Finally, a bit further but still walkable: Roscioli. Wish we had gone there for every meal!!! Minor notes: we didn't have a shower door, which meant we took extra care to ensure we didn't accidentally spray the bathroom floor while showering. A bathtub would have been lovely for soaking after all that walking over Rome. The gauzy curtains, while lovely, do nothing to block the sunlight that peeks in around the shutters so our room was bright as soon as the sun came up around 6am. The pillows were either super hard or super soft; a foam medium option would have been nice to have. These are all minor points of negativity and truly are nit picky as the St. George is truly a gem! We were extremely comfortable in our stay at the St. George and felt very cared for by the staff. This is what i expect from a hotel in this class. I strongly recommend for the service, comfort, and location if you're staying in Rome. read more

The Hotel Indigo in Rome feels like a small, independent hotel rather than what it actually is, a part of the huge international IHG chain. This small property has a discreet location off the main streets in an old building that has been totally, and tastefully, redone. The staff is warm and friendly, the decor is charming, and the sixth-floor rooftop restaurant/bar has wonderful views over the rooftops of Rome. The location is excellent, within walking distance of many restaurants, shops, the Campo de Fiori, the Pantheon, the Vatican and many other sites. Even the elevators, two small guest lifts that carry only five persons each, give you the feel of an independent hotel. Only the fake fire in the fireplace and the high prices might lead to think this is no typical small independent spot. We stayed here for two nights after a Mediterranean cruise, on am IGH frequent traveler award, so we didn't mind the high rates, and we enjoyed the relatively large room, compared to our shipboard cabin. A couple of nits to pick: IHG doesn't do much to recognize its elite members (I'm Platinum Elite), and the Hotel Indigo is no exception. For example, you don't get an included breakfast as most other hotel programs offer. Also, drink and meal prices are high, even for an upscale hotel in Rome But, bottom line, if you have the IHG points or don't mind the rates, this is an excellent choice in a great location in Rome. read more

This place is a Perfect example of a 5 star hotel in the heart of Rome. Last night I ate at their restaurant and I have to say this was one of the best meal I had in Rome ! Everything is homemade by chef Domenico and you can tell they use fresh ingredients. We had this amazing dinner on the rooftop overlooking the whole city. The hotel itself is gorgeous. It's a little boutique hotel, and my first impressions were: Amazing and Gorgeous. The decor is Elegant, Stylish and Trendy. We finally took our honeymoon three years late, and this was our hotel! It's within walking distance to almost everything. The staff is very nice and knowledgeable; we even tipped them. (We should probably do this if we have them make dinner reservations anyway, right?) Our package included real breakfast, and it was real: eggs, croissants, jams of every kind, traditional Italian cold cuts, the best yogurt I've ever had, etc. We had turndown service at night. The cons: The bed was very hard, and they don't have free wifi anywhere except for the lobby. I would stay here again, though! read more

I actually checked out of another hotel that was terrible and grabbed the last room available at indigo during a very busy holiday week. The rooms, the staff, the selection of wine at the bar, I can't say enough good things and I will only stay at this hotel when I return to Rome. The best feature of this hotel is the location. Via Giulia is perfect for walking just about anywhere you'll want to visit. We used a cab once to visit Villa Borghese. Otherwise, Piazza Navona, Campo de' Fiori, The Vatican, Trevi Fountain, shopping, trattorias, ristorante etc...all walking. Breakfast was included in our stay. The reason for the lack of stars: 1. The Hotel advertises their rooftop bar/restaurant with photos. The first night we stayed the weather was questionable; we didn't expect the rooftop area to open. However the next 2 nights were gorgeous, starlight and 70 degrees....the rooftop bar and restaurant were closed. We asked the staff and they simply said "it's closed tonight". 2. Our room was a decent size but the bathroom was tiny. The toilet seat was narrow and rounded...sorry if this is too graphic but this level hotel should offer a comfy seat! In the room was another door to a locked area. I asked the front desk what was behind the locked door. He informed me it was a 2nd bathroom and it "will remain locked"....??? whaaaaa? I asked him a second time because I thought I lost something in translation. He repeated himself but would not elaborate. I just don't understand his answer or why he wouldn't explain. 3. We asked for a corkscrew. A staff member brought one up for us immediately. We thanked him and led him back to the door. He informed us he needed the corkscrew back! He was lovely and embarrassed. Apparently there are not enough corkscrews here! As a former purchasing agent for a top hotel, I know this is not an oversight! I'm not sure if we will stay here again. Very cute place!! Great location for the most part. If you plan to walk everywhere, it is quite a walk to the Coliseum & then if you do a tour (ours was 3 hour walking tour), you just don't want to walk back! The beds (at least in 108) were very hard! Slept on the comforter to get a tad cushion & then the pillows had nothing soft about them either. Bathroom was nice size, nothing overly big or too small, just perfect size & always had quick, hot water. Hotel bar on the rooftop is very cute too, just plan to pay at least double. read more

We stayed here in May, 2012. The location is perfect. In 8 days we only took two cabs and one was to the Auditorium Parco Della Musica which is in a northern suburb of Rome. Rooms were well appointed, very comfortable, and both our rooms had charming views. Breakfasts were full American breakfasts - plentiful and delicious. There is now wifi throughout the hotel including the individual bedrooms. Would definitely stay there again ! read more

One of my favorite hotels ever! Concierge is excellent and very helpful for helping plan our visit. The rooftop restaurant boasts awesome views (the domes of many cathedrals including Saint Peter's! and we were able to use the Hotel Indigo as a base to explore much of rome, from the Vatican to the Spanish Steps. We stayed with 2 very young children and the staff in the hotel was accomodating and friendly. I would like to know how the hotel brews their coffee as it is the best coffee I have ever had! read more

If your are looking for the perfect hotel in walking distance to the main Roman attractions, in a quiet neighborhood, with class, and the friendliest, most courteous staff ever.... this hotel fits the bill! With only 35 rooms, it is exclusive yet understated elegance. With a 360 degree rooftop terrace, you can literally drink in the Roman experience and its history. We bought some wine and cheese at the nearby Enotecas and enjoyed the beautiful air and views. Epic! The lower level features a pool, wet and dry sauna with a workout studio as well. Massage rooms are also available. Beautiful and clean, a well needed break after walking around the city! The all inclusive breakfast and evening cocktail hour is also amazing with incredible food and wine. There is a choice of sitting inside or in a beautiful couryard with a serene water fountain...All the extra touches are there, even English and Italian newspapers and a Tv with news - makes sure you don't loose track of who terrorized who today, but it all seems so far removed in this beautiful hotel.
