There were a lot of mixed reviews about Hotel Jatay, so we weren't sure what to expect. My wife and I only needed a place to stay for one night, and overall, we had a decent experience. The front desk staff and employees were welcoming and friendly. The room was small, but for the price we paid, it was good enough for a short stay. It wasn't the cleanest hotel I've stayed at, but it definitely wasn't the dirtiest either. One thing we really liked was the location. There are plenty of good seafood spots nearby, and my wife and I enjoyed walking around, grabbing food, and exploring the area by the beach. Just keep in mind that this is a busy tourist area right by the beach. There are a lot of people, music can be playing late into the night, and the area can get pretty rowdy. If you're looking for somewhere quiet and relaxing, this might not be the place for you. For us, though, we just needed somewhere affordable for one night, and Hotel Jatay did the job. The sheets were dirty. They had some that looked like blood on them. No iron, blow dryer or coffee pot. I called 3 times for new sheets and towels and no one brought any. They neglected to give us any utensils with room service. I had to call over and over again for toilet paper and they still hadn't brought any when we checked out. Price is decent, but you could hear music from the bars across the way. The staff are very friendly and nice. The only reason I'm giving them three stars. It's because the water stopped working. No pressure whatsoever. Rooms are OK better full size not queen so just take that and take consideration but overall, if I am looking for a cheap place to stay and clean, I would probably go for a day no more. read more

Overall the hotel is clean and good location. However, I have noticed the staff is not as friendly as before. I was charged for a towel because it was dirty by makeup. This can and will come off in the wash. I should have charged them for leaving me a ripped towel and the smell of a backed up sewer line. Needless to say, I will take my business elsewhere since when they begin to nickel and dime you it is usually an indicator that the business is suffering. They charged me $10 for a towel that could've been washed. Well, that $10 cost him future business. I have never left a hotel where they inspect the room before you leave. DANGEROUS Security Breach - Do Not Stay Here! ZERO STARS! I'm writing this review to WARN ALL TRAVELERS about a terrifying and dangerous experience we had at Hotel Jatay in Playas de Tijuana. At 3:30 AM, while we were asleep in our room, someone was given a key to our hotel room and broke in. We woke up to the sound of our door opening and a stranger entering while we were inside. Thankfully we acted fast & shot out of bed & was able to get the door shut! This wasn't a simple mistake - this was a severe breach of security and guest safety. Someone knew there were two women in that room. We were horrified and shaken. When we reported the incident, the hotel staff's response was completely inadequate and concerning. Something with the Security guard was OFF. There was no explanation of how or why a key was issued to someone else for our room. There were no immediate actions taken to ensure our safety or investigate the incident. There has STILL been no response from the hotel management on this and/ or our refund for the days we didn't stay. We were left feeling unsafe and unprotected. We immediately packed and left the premises within 30 minutes. This hotel clearly has SERIOUS issues with security, management, and accountability. If this could happen to us, it could happen to anyone. No guest should ever have to fear someone entering their room period. Please think twice before booking here - your safety is not worth the risk. read more

I'm going to give a full five star experience because number one they have great customer service skills, if you treat them right, they'll treat you better here. They have great skills on helping out and bringing things to the room, etc. these people work hard and they let you play hard. It's a safe place to be and clean inside. I would totally stay here again. I can't wait to come back affordable price fair price. the only thing I will know is that on a Friday you may hear some noise on the outside. I suggest closing the window during naps and sleep time, if you're one of those people who cannot sleep with any ounce of noise, then I maybe don't recommend but I know the day if you're not worried about a little tiny bit of noise with the window closed then stay here. The restaurant had great fresh juices, healthy, and orange juice, they sometimes might take a while if they're very booked up and busy, but the food was amazing. I tried my first chilaquiles. they were so good and the French toast.. my friends seem to enjoy their stay and meals as well. read more

We give this Hotel a great recommendation. The entrance is clean. The parking is clean. Small I think about 10 cars but nice. Lobby small, no medium, bright, clean. Elevator clean. We had to stay an extra day in the city due to a family emergency. The receptionist was nice and helped us get a room. Had a wonderful experience, room was clean. Everything is walking distance, shops, restaurants, and beach no more than 10 minutes away from the hotel. Most importantly my family and I felt safe. Damn, even though this is a nice hotel, I will NEVER stay here! I reserved a room here, while we were waiting in Ensenada, to drive back. I specifically told them, it was my wife, myself and my 2 kids, plus my Frenchie. The receptionist said it was fine, as long as my dog was small and in a carrying case, which we had. We arrive there at 330pm, and they immediately signed us in. Once we step outside to get our luggage, kids, and dogs, they change their tune. "No, you can't stay here because of the dog." "Did you pay already?" Because if you did, we are going to refund your money, you can't stay here!" So they refunded and kicked us out...I tried calling other hotels, but nobody would accept our Frenchie... We ended up finding an Air BnB, Thank God!! So I suggest, if you are looking for a place to stay, STAY AWAY FROM HERE!!! Look up Victor on Air BnB, he has a really nice 2 bed, 2 bath condo about a half mile away at Oceano 21! Stayed one night. Hotel is much nicer than the hotels in that area. But you get the same amount of noise in your room from the street traffic and business noise. Brand new building and they install single payne windows. That is ridiculous. Hallways are wide open so any hallway conversation will keep you up at night. Again they cheaped out on hotel room doors and used hollow core doors that do not keep any of the hallway noise down. You are staying in a nicer hotel but you will not have a restful night sleep. To much street and hallway noise all night long due to poor insulation/sound proofing needed in this area. read more

I had a beautiful view of the ocean from my room and I enjoyed the convenience of being able to order room service. I stayed at this hotel not reading the reviews before hand anyways when we arrived everything went well. But once in the room we realized we made a mistake by booking this hotel first we only had one pillow for two people when called and for two more pillows they never came to drop it off. Which was very upsetting the cherry on the ice cream is when we tried to login to there wifi wasn't having internet signal which was weird so we called the front desk the answer we got was keep trying. We stayed here Friday night through Sunday morning and we had our room cleaned Saturday morning. Everything was moved from where we had it. We took pictures of everything before we left. We noticed we were missing something. We go through our stuff and realize that my boyfriends airpods are missing, it was in the picture with all of of stuff, we looked EVERYWHERE for them. We think they were stolen out of the room by staff. I sent a message to the hotel trying to resolve the issue, this is what I sent them, "Hey! We just recently spent the night, two nights, this weekend and we noticed something was missing. We are missing a pair of Airpods, we left out stuff on top of a cabinet and we took pictures of everything before we left. Our room was cleaned while we were away. Is there a chance you may have found them? It's a pair of Airpods in a black silicon case and the name "Antonio" is engraved on the front of the Airpods inside the case." I came to the hotel from November 5-7 and it was a very good experience! They have an underground parking lot and we're friendly to help you with your items when you check in. The best part was the WiFi was amazing !!! I needed to do homework and internship while on my stay and I had fast connection with no issues to do all my work. Also !!! They have Netflix, HBO Max and YouTube on their tv's so you can literally relax In peace while ordering delicious room service. The hotel was clean and all the staff were professional. Do not stay at this place unless you want to be mistreated & lied to! We checked in & everyone was very polite; we went out for a bit & then went to the restaurant for dinner later (they told us it is open 24 hours). We ordered a simple meal which took a bizarrely long time (by the way, we were the only two people there!) and had a guy who worked there standing over our table talking to us. At first it was pleasant & interesting but after 20 minutes of him talking nonstop without us getting a word in edgewise it was just weird and annoying (even more so with no drinks or food). And it didn't stop! We literally couldn't say one word, he just kept talking - even when we finally got our food & drinks. I think we eventually got out of there around an hour later. Our room was super noisy both from the street noise & the hallway & room next door. The worst was that the window leaked all over a bunch of my things; at first they were so apologetic & concerned, offering to compensate us but when we checked out, it was a different person who knew nothing about it & said he wasn't going to honor the word of the people from the day before. We even called a few times after we left & were told yes, they would definitely compensate us but they never did, just kept lying. What a disappointment on so many levels. read more

Nice Hotel, pretty much new. I like that its so close to the beach! We got a view facing the beach, we liked it at first and didn't mind it... up until it was 9-10 pm and we had to put our little one to sleep... the banda wouldn't stop playing and it was pretty noisy. Music was loud, people talking, yelling and singing. The noise was just too much and my little one got fussy. We asked if we could move rooms to the opposite side of the building and they were nice enough to allow us to do so. We then were given a room facing the stadium (dirt lot) which we sure didnt mind but did think about the fact that early AM the sun would be shining in our faces but that wasn't too big of a deal. Maybe if you're going to be out partying and drinking it wont be idea to be placed on that side since you'll want to sleep in, lol. Also, they did not mind to upgrade us from the first room being a king size bed to the second room having two queens. I would definitely consider staying here again. Only problem was that There was miscommunication between the afternoon/evening team and the AM team. When we decided to check out we were asked what room we stayed in and once we mentioned it they said no one was booked there... i then had to explain that we had asked to change rooms and gave them the first room number we were placed in. The guy apologized and said no note had been recorded of us doing so which makes sense as to why one of the room service ladies tried opening the door on us that morning! Haha. loved this hotel. i was here for baja fest and it was the only thing available close by. the hotel was in a safe area, the room was really comfortable and really nice from the inside even the bathroom was nice and spacious. the staff is what really makes me want to come back. i was treated like a family member there. the housekeepers were no nice and humble. lastlty the places there to eat are amazing i had some amazing sea food and it was really fresh and affordable. i will come back for sure! read more
