The shower head was amazing!!!! The pressure was perfect! I must've taken a half hour shower it was that good! Between the price, the location, the cleanliness and the room, you cannot go wrong! Usually when I think of cheap hotels I think of dirty rooms, cockroaches, funky smells, dangerous neighborhoods, uncomfortable mattresses and everything being a hundred years old. This was not the case at all with EasyHotel. Everything was new and clean. The mattress was new and comfortable. Everything was newly painted and white without a speck of dirty. The room itself was tiny and fit our suitcases and bed and not much else. The tiny room, the white walls and the sanitariness almost made me feel like we were in a insane asylum. Also the bathroom wasn't really a separate room, more like a piece of glass separating it from the bedroom. Any noises or smells that usually stay in the bathroom, entered the bedroom as well. This just made our stay more entertaining and memorable.

The hotel is located a little further out from the city center than I would have liked, but it is an easy 5 minute walk to the train and tram station, where you can be anywhere in town within another 10 minutes. The hotel is conveniently located near Amstel station, which provides direct access to downtown and the airport. Overall, this is a great hotel to stay at if you work in one of the nearby businesses, I would just be reluctant to recommend it for this looking to be in the "action" downtown. Comfortable beds (two singles pushed together, which is common for Europe), decent shower, coffee maker, glassware, wardrobe, etc. The hotel does a very nice continental breakfast which is complimentary with the rate and was wonderful! The thing that really got us was the wonderful service. The desk staff went above and beyond on more than one occasion. We decided to stay an extra two days in Amsterdam because we were having a great time. We booked another night because it was available and they ensured our experience was seamless. Same room, no check in check out. They were full the second night but set us up at their sister property and facilitated the transition. Extremely impressed and would stay there again in a heartbeat.

The bad: The common room is closed and locked from 11 pm - 8 am, breakfast begins at 8 am - so if you are an early riser, you're out of luck. Also - it appears that there are NO STAFF on the premisses after 11 pm. So basically you're sharing a sort of house/hotel with strangers and no one in charge at night. We thought this a bit odd but didn't mind until our second night when a very psychotic, very aggressive guy stayed in the room next to us. Brief interactions with him freaked us out earlier in the evening but it was worse when he came home drunk and yelling at his girlfriend, slammed doors, shouted in the hallway and....as women travelers - we just kept our door locked-locked-locked. It was my first time being able to observe the Swifts as they were in NL for their young to hatch and learn to fly. What an experience to have breakfast in the garden in the mornings!! My friends and I left our bags in the safe hands of the hotel and explored the neighborhood while Jalloh, the amazing housekeeper, prepared our room. The staff gave us excelente recommendations to find delicious food that met our dietary restrictions and where to purchase toiletries we forgot at great prices. Our room was 1.1, the Amsterdam room, which overlooks the garden with huge picture windows. The blackout curtains made sleeping in or going to sleep early a breeze. Breakfast included and served from 0800-1100 was a lovely perk!! Plus, the coffee machine has black coffee, cappuccinos, lattes, and hot milk!! Breakfast also has coffee and tea included. Yum!!! No need to go out and buy coffee every morning but there are plenty of delicious coffee places nearby. Breakfast is vegetarian and includes cereal, toast, milk, orange juice, apple juice, boil yourself eggs, fresh cheeses, tomatoes, and cucumbers. Uber Eats delivers to the hotel if the breakfast isn't to your liking or if you want food after breakfast hours. The staff treated my friends and I like family and I felt very safe here. Speaking of safes, our room had a safe for personal belongings if we needed it. The WiFi in the breakfast room was sometimes overwhelmed by our large group (we reserved the entire hotel for our student group) and we all expected that. Of course, any system in a hotel this size would be overwhelmed by a group of almost 30 tech consuming students. Turning on Low Data Mode fixed this issue for me and turning off my WiFi when I didn't need it helped the group. We often purchased food at the local street market or store and ate in the breakfast room or garden. The local park is also a lovely place for a picnic. I'm incredibly impressed with how clean our rooms were kept. Huge kudos to the housekeeper, Jalloh!! This man works hard and loves his job. It is obvious that he takes pride in his work and I would highly recommend anyone who stays here to treat this staff with respect for their hard work and care for guests. Our room had a private bathroom with a shower, very luxurious!!! With four twin beds, it still didn't feel cramped. On the hotter days, we asked for a fan and kept the windows open for fresh air. It was never miserably hot or cold. I brought my own extra blanket after reading some reviews about people being too hot or too cold. I didn't really need it, but I used it because I had it. Whenever we asked for fresh towels (long hair needs extra! Haha!!) staff never complained and happily helped us. If I could, I'd probably live here!! When we landed at AMS airport, we waited in the hotel shuttle area for about a half hour before the Hotel Schiphol shuttle arrived. It was a large shuttle, the size of a bus, and filled up quickly. The shuttle was free, which was fantastic. Check-in was quick and easy. There were several desk clerks working when we arrived. We were asked to estimate how much money we thought we would be spending at the hotel restaurants and they used that amount to estimate the hold amount that they placed on my credit card. I thought that was an interesting approach. In the US, you really don't have a choice in the amount that they place on hold on your credit card at hotels. We had a "deluxe" room, which was huge. There was a massive walk-in rain shower and a huge jetted bathtub in the bathroom. They do not provide wash cloths or kleenex, so know that you will need to bring those items if you use them. The bed was comfortable and the hotel had very good sound-proofing. Even though the hotel was close to the airport (although not in walking distance), there wasn't a lot of loud air traffic noise. The breakfast buffet, which costs extra but was included in our room price, was huge, with a lot of variety in pastries, hot items, juices, etc. The breakfast hours were very generous. You could enter any time until 11 am! This was especially nice when you were tired from jet-lag and didn't want to get up early for breakfast. The hotel restaurants were very good (we especially liked the Brasserie for lunch) and there are other nearby restaurants just a short walk across the parking lot. The hotel also had two self-serve mini marts, with snacks and beverages for purchase. We did not use the pool or workout facilities, so I cannot comment on those. We would definitely stay at the Hotel Schiphol again.

I booked this stay through Expedia and intentionally selected the higher-priced "pay at property"…read moreoption so I would be charged upon arrival, not in advance. Several months after booking--and still months before the actual stay--I received a fraud alert on my credit card. I declined the charge, and it turned out the hotel was attempting to charge my card early despite the booking terms. I contacted Expedia to resolve the issue and was told that the hotel is now demanding full payment upfront with no exceptions, even though this directly contradicts the option I selected at booking. To make matters worse, I'm now being told I can no longer cancel and must pay anyway. I travel frequently (about four months out of the year) and have never experienced anything like this. Changing payment terms months after booking and attempting to force payment while blocking cancellation is extremely concerning and feels highly unethical. Proceed with caution when booking this property.

To the hotels defense: I should have researched the google street view prior to booking. 2. We were originally booked in the Marie Antoinette room. It was nicely decorated but lacked an air-conditioning unit. a. To the hotels defense: some of the room have a portable dyson looking fan/electric fan. The front desk (or lack thereof) was very accommodating and "exchanged" us to a standard room with a centralized a/c unit. Location: Close proximity to all the sites, canals and Centraal Station within 5 minutes walking distance. There is a tram stop directly outside the hotel and Ubers can pick up/ drop off as well. However, picture this hotel in Time Square between Madam Tussauds and the Olive Garden- in my opinion, that too many tourist for a small area. The Staff: there is no lobby or waiting area. The check in is through a narrow hallway and a person manning what to me seemed to be a poorly constructed booth. However, the staff were very helpful in accommodating our request for a room change and tried their very best to make us feel welcome. Bottom Line: This hotel is not for everyone. My girlfriend and I loved Amsterdam but would have enjoyed the city more if it were not for the location- this could have been avoided should I have done more research.
