Famous Köln Dom was right there! Other old buildings also. Because of thick doors and well insulated long windows, couldn't hear any noises from outside. We slept sans curtains! Breakfast was super good. All kinds of German goods which I missed so much. Fresh Brötchen or dark German bread, salami, schinken, etc. all there! Famous Heumarkt was walking distance. We enjoyed last Weihnachtsmarkt there with super hot Glühwein! Other part of the cities Weihnachtsmarkt were closed. I still remember the early morning's church bell sounds. It was not loud. It was not bothering like alarm sound. In an unknown city unfamiliar hotel bed you woke up by the church bell sounds. Through the long huge windows you see grey cloud thick sky.. yeah you are in Germany.

For instance, I'm allergic to feathers and fragrances so housekeeping provides synthetic bedding and uses natural cleaning supplies. It also helps to be a Hilton Diamond member because there are perks, like view upgrades of the dome, and free breakfast. A few times I've enjoyed the split level condo suite with dreamy tub-- for you honeymooners out there, this is the room you want. It's its own castle. Be sure to order breakfast buffet downstairs, and ask for friendly, English-speaking serving host, Polat Dal who is extra helpful for seniors guests and those with mobility challenges. David was friendly, multilingual and very helpful to solve any issues I had. He made my stay even better with his sense of humor! My room was simple but space efficient. Similarly when transitioning a very old building for a new purpose, not every room will have ample windows! Our room had one which worked fine for our needs. For us, there was a little confusion because we thought that breakfast was optional to include as titanium members (usually there is an option to add breakfast as a welcome benefit for higher status members), but this was a miscommunication and while a bit of an unpleasant surprise to be met with the bill at the end of our stay, understandable and not a detriment to our overall experience. I do think the hotel would benefit from clarifying if they offer a welcome benefit and outlining it very clearly, but that is really my only criticism. Our bathroom thankfully had a real and functioning door although I agree that some door choices in European hotels can leave privacy to be desired. Overall we were very pleased, really appreciated the convenient location, and found the hotel to be charming, and the staff to be helpful and pleasant. I had dinner in the lobby bar which had a limited menu, but was surprisingly tasty and had a number of healthy options. Breakfast was served in the restaurant and I was impressed with the quality of the buffet which was highlighted by an omelette station which gladly accommodates my request for an egg white omelette...with fresh egg whites. The four story building features an indoor pool, gym, saunas, a restaurant, many conference rooms, and a bar. While there is no executive suite for us Hilton Diamond members, the associate at the desk did give me two coupons for the bar. The rooms are nice. We had the two twin bed room which had a view of the town. The beds were soft and the pillows were cotton. The shower pressure was amazing and the bathroom itself was clean. Overall the staff was really friendly as well as helpful. They answered our questions about the town and made our stay really enjoyable. The hotel breakfast is definitely one to stop at, especially being a Diamond member where the breakfast is comped for you and a guest. Parking is in the garage that's connected to the building. It's 29 euros a night and can be charged to your room. I'm so happy we found this place. An amazing deal, a wonderful hotel located right in the central part of the town.

We were told to wait because she wasn't sure when the room would be ready. I was pretty upset as the hotel check in time was 3pm and 1 hr 30 min after we were told they didn't know when we'd get our room. We watched person after person get their room and get to go upstairs but we were told they didn't know when we'd get ours. I can't imagine how the experience is for those who can eat anything. And it is only 10 euros. It is on a cobblestone street with cafes, restaurants, and shops, and a walk from the ferry that crosses the Rhine. The location on the main street of the town is lovely. It is only 1 block to the Rhine for boat trips and the trolley which runs along the towns of the Rhine. There is a train station not far away. The hotel is an old established hotel with many lovely old world decorations. The food is delicious. Although there isn't an elevator, the rooms are spacious and the bathrooms are modern. Everything is spotless and the staff is professional. There is limited parking nearby. The price is reasonable and we recommend it.
