My wife and I spent two nights here while on a long weekend road trip from Vegas. Our room on the top floor (6th) was comfortable and fairly quiet as long as we didn't turn on the noisy, rattling AC unit. Fortunately at 6,000 ft elevation, it didn't get to hot for us. There is a single, groaning, old elevator to take you down to the smokiest casino lobby. We tried to hold out breath and run through it to the outside and fresh air everytime. There is free, convenient parking out the back of the hotel. The hotel is in the original old part of town on the west end. The town is easy to get from one end to the other so we were never more than a short ride away from wherever we needed to go in town. The staff here are friendly and generally helpful. Their lobby restaurant was closed for renovations while we were here in early June. No worries as the hotel across the street had a decent breakfast. read more

This place has lots of history and is the cheapest in town for a nights stay by a long shot. While it gets the job done it feels rather dirty and grunge. I'd call it a dive hotel, bar, and gaming room all in one. It's clearly the biggest gaming room in town and attracts lots of smoking and can be crowded compared to other hotel/casinos but the staff was very nice. I was in stopping at garnet hill for a geology roadtrip and it was great accommodations for just sleeping. read more

Stayed the night here on a road trip back to Utah from Bishop Ca. Destiny checked us in. She was very professional and courteous. We were kinda looking forward to trying out the cafe in the casino but it was closed for renovations. Destiny had a print out of all the restaurant's in town and told us about which one's were open late. We settled on pizza from Hometown Pizza because they delivered to the hotel. The pizza was so good. We got a double room. It was a little on the small side compared to a more modern hotel but the place was built in the 1920s. The beds were comfortable, the room was clean. Mini fridge, microwave as A/C all worked perfectly. The bathroom was clean, lots of towels and soaps. All in all I'd stay again. read more

Felt like arriving at Las Vegas in the 50's. Smoky casino. Long bar. Great parking and super place to get to after all that highway 50. My wife and I recently went to Ely for our Anniversary, I walked in the doors and went to the front desk. I was greeted by a very courteous front desk clerk who had the answers to all my questions. We ended up booking a room and were not disappointed. My friend recommended this as motorcycle travel friendly. The prices are very good, the parking lot is huge, the gambling hall is clean. T I had a queen room. It would be a tight space for two, but was perfect for me. Plenty of are to hang gear and layout my bags. The rooms are fully updated and modernized. Plenty of sockets for recharging. The shower was retiled, but still old plumbing. They offer a breakfast at Denny's gratis and a free drink at the bar (limited choices.) Besides the lovely staff and the delicious meal we had at Dennys, as we were leaving, my husband realized he had left his silver cross necklace. 4 stars Hotel Nevada is one of Ely's most prominent feature in the down town area. With 6 floors and various lighting features and murals on the exterior , you can see the changes in advertising through the decades. Parking runs along the sides of the building and a lot directly behind it, but be forewarned that the spots are not symmetrical and at an angle that makes it difficult to park larger vehicles. Entering the hotel you find yourself surrounded by slot machines and remnants of Ely's past. Unfortunately smoking is permitted within casino floors and the residue has sunk into every surface. The front desk is near the front entrance of the building, and the employees there were very helpful in getting us our room keys, Wi-Fi password, and a voucher for a free drink at the hotel bar. I headed up to room 501 in the elevator, which moved quickly but you definitely had to push the "Close Door" button. My room was small, as expected from a hotel that's almost 100 years old, but very clean. Instead of attempting to cram a dresser into the small space, a small wall mounted shelving unit included spots to set clothes, along with a Keurig coffee maker, a bottle of water, mints, and hotel information sheet. I appreciated that the alarm clock had 4 USB ports and 2 outlets, along with a lamp that has a push button. The bathroom was small but complete. If you're claustrophobic, the shower may give you issues. My biggest issue with the small room was the proximity of the a.c. to the bed. I would begin to doze off, but the a.c. would kick on with a loud shudder throughout the night. I ended up not using my drink voucher, so when I turned in my room key the next morning, they commented that I could get 2 bottles of water, and also got me a coupon for the in hotel Denny's. It was a nice stop on a quick work trip. read more

I want to preface this review by saying this is not a luxury hotel chain, but it sure is fun! We've stayed here several times and always get a suite. The regular rooms are rather small, but the suites are very comfortable. We were given the Lyndon B. Johnson suite and it was very nice. There was even a fireplace, which was very cozy with the snow falling. As someone who enjoys gambling, I really like the casino. It's pretty old school, but that is the charm. The Western memorabilia is very interesting - this is a hotel with an intriguing past. The basement used to be a showroom (and supposedly it's where Wayne Newton got his start). I suggest popping down and looking at the old pictures. The restaurant is a Denny's and they offer free breakfast if you are staying there (it's a limited menu of eggs, bacon or sausage and either pancakes or sausage). Overall, the hotel has that classic old western charm, the employees are very nice and we always make a point to stay here when driving up to Idaho. read more

This historic hotel has been restored nicely. My wife and I booked a king suite online, which ended up being the Ingrid Bergman room on the top (6th) floor. It was uniquely decorated with photos and posters from her career. [There are several themed rooms on that floor with names of old time famous people--didn't get to see the interiors; but it's a fun concept. Not sure whether those people actually stayed in the rooms; but they could have.] Our bed was very comfortable, the employees were friendly, and we very much enjoyed our stay! Fun to visit, not a bad place to stay. For how genuine and pleasant the staff was here, I wish I could give this hotel a better review. It isn't a bad place, but all things considered I found it to be okay at best. First the pros--this hotel has several things going for it. It's charming, in its own way, and has a long local history. Visitors may find that their rented room has been occupied by a notable name from decades past (though I wasn't so lucky during my stay), which is a fun connection to Nevada history you won't find many other places. The staff throughout the hotel were kind and helpful, which was a highlight of my stay. The rooms are also clean and well-kept. I was pleasantly surprised by how hot the shower could get, as I like steaming hot showers and many hotels simply can't provide that. Now the cons--unfortunately, the rooms are small, plain, and lacking in furniture. The room I stayed in had no tables and one small chair, which made eating in the room a difficulty. I'm rather glad I stayed here alone, as the space would have been cramped if shared between two people. Additionally, the internet was slow to a crawl. If you're looking to stream video, audio, check your social media, or clock in to work from your room, I would advise coming with a good cell data plan instead. This could have been something localized to my hotel room, but I suggest coming prepared anyway. One final thing I consider to be a con is the breakfast situation. The hotel lists breakfast as an included amenity and it is strictly true that they offer a breakfast; however, rather than a continental breakfast or some sort of breakfast buffet, your stay comes with a coupon for a small free breakfast at the Denny's in the casino. I opted to skip the Denny's and buy my own breakfast elsewhere, so I can't speak to quality, though I doubt a Denny's is likely to surprise. Overall I didn't hate my stay here, but I do think there's better options. read more

Hotel Nevada and Gambling Hall in Ely was a pleasant little gem in the old part of town. We chose this location because we are traveling with our two pups. After doing a search on the BRINGFIDO App, we ended up picking this location. They are pet friendly and allow 2 dogs for a small fee of $15 total. The only issue pertaining to the dogs is that even though there are several open areas and parks within walking distance, there are no fenced in areas where you can just let your pups wander about freely. However, all of the staff we dealt with were dog friendly! They wanted to give them treats whenever we walked by the check-in counter! The interior of the hotel contains so many unique displays of antique items, historical photos and animal mounts such as elk, deer and ram. They definitely put their own touch in decorating! When you enter, unfortunately, you're greeted by the obnoxious odor of cigarette smoke. If you are non-smokers, like us, this is definitely a negative! Good new though, smoking is not permitted in the rooms, so, once you get to your room, you escape the smoke. (Except the remnants of it on your hair and clothes.) The rooms are smaller than modern hotel rooms, but it was plenty for us. They've kept it pretty original. Wish I had gotten a pic before we made ourselves at home. The four-post bed was a little squeaky but the mattress was comfortable. You get a choice of real flat pillows or real fluffy pillows. It was surprisingly quiet and even though our room looked out onto the main street, we really did not hear any street noise. Nor did we hear any of our neighbors next to or above us. Complimentary items in the room were numerous!(coffee, bottled water, soaps, shampoos, conditioners, facial wipes) Although it is very obvious that it is a really old hotel. It's really run down, but it was clean and smelled fresh. It would be a lot of fun to refurbish the rooms one at a time but still keeping the historical feel. With our booking, we received two free drink tickets for a beer or margarita. We also got two free breakfast vouchers (Original Grand Slam and coffee) for Denny's, which is located inside of the hotel. The Denny's is no longer open 24 hours though. The wait staff advised that it was due to the changes they made during COVID. Could eventually get back to normal when people decide they want to work again! We would stay here again. Lots of friendly people! Lots of character! And the price was reasonable. ($95.34 a night plus the $15 for our pups) read more

The way I would describe the Hotel Nevada is cowboy quaint. Small rooms as they were in 1907, updated with 21st century amenities. In room coffee service with bottled water, wifi, flat screen TV with vast selection of channels. Room was facing the street with very street noise. Staff helpful and friendly, comp drinks at the bar and comp breakfast at Denny's. It was like staying in a museum with the wall fixtures, paintings, displays and furniture. Neat old Hotel. Easy location and parking. They are in the middle of remodeling rooms (about halfway done) and ours was done and great. Comfortable, clean and quiet on the 5th Floor. We could not use the casino (tooo smoky) so we ended up right across the at The Jailhouse which was a little better. They also had a nice looking Steakhouse in jail cells that smelled great. Denny's for free breakfast was fine. So overall 4.5 stars... -.5 for lack of air in the Casino. read more

I was only going to be in town for one night so for the price this seemed like a reasonable option. I booked ahead of time online using a card to hold the room with the expectation that the card presented at check in would be the card used to pay for the room per the website. Checking in was not a problem until it was. Clerk was very friendly and even recommended a couple restaurants if we did not want to eat at Denny's, the only restaurant in the hotel. Upon check in I was also given two bar drink tickets and two breakfast vouchers at of course Denny's. This hotel was built in 1929 so certain things are to be expected, smoky casino smell, small elevator, small room and bathroom. I don't think that is an excuse for neglecting basic upgrades. My friend and I didn't even want to take our shoes off in the room due to the carpet being unclean. That bathroom was so old it just looks dirty. And there are two signs in the room warning that the water temperature is erratic. Because of that they should really drop the rate by about $20 a night. It's definitely more motel than hotel. Even though the clerk who checked me in was friendly she screwed up the check in and billing process completely. I was given a receipt that showed the credit card presented at check in with a zero balance but that was not the card that was run. Upon discovering their screw up I called to have it fixed, which they did with no apology, no acknowledgement that they screwed up and no need for me to give them the correct card because they already had it on file. Would I stay here again? Absolutely not. There are other options in town and I imagine they can't be any worse. read more

Hotel Nevada is sort of the landmark attraction of Ely, Nevada. For myself.....I was actually driving The Loneliest Road in America going from Baker 400 miles across the state of Nevada and ending in Reno. Along my trek....the city of Ely was one of the first stops I made. I initially got my "Loneliest Road" Passport stamped acknowledging that I had arrived in Ely, and then as I drove through town.....the whole setting changed from modern and present-day......an absolute throwback to western times. And this is where Hotel Nevada was situated.....right on the corner of town punctuated by an old fashioned/cowboy themed setting. I parked my car right along the street, got out and walked around town and explored. I was highly surprised by how the city of Ely had maintained such a vintage backdrop. I did venture inside Hotel Nevada just to survey what it was like. Yeah....they have slot machines and the usual casino stuff. I didn't see table games though. Still, it was interesting to walk around and get a glimpse of what "old school" Nevada felt like. I spent maybe 10 minutes inside the hotel, then hopped back in my car and continued on my way. In all......I guess the point of this review is just to mention.....for anyone looking to take a breather while driving the endless Loneliest Road in America, Hotel Nevada here in Ely can be worthwhile as a quick roadside attraction. read more

On our road trip to Northern Idaho, we searched for a historic place to stay and came across Hotel Nevada. The online photos and location looked intriguing and adventurous. Not disappointed at all! Built in 1929. Exterior is. Not sexy like Las Vegas- this is a small copper mining town but I loved the vintage neon miner on the building. Lobby and small gaming area are decorated with antlers and mounted deer heads. The front desk staff was happy and pleasant. The crowd in the gaming area also has a fun vibe. Our room was a pleasant surprise. Seemed to be freshly renovated, clean, crisp sheets, microwave, refrigerator, Keurig, coffee and a large TV. Our stay included a free cocktail or beer from the fully stocked bar and breakfast for each guest at the adjoining Denny's. We will stay here again if passing through in the future. Oh yes, quite a bargain rate for what you get. read more

When we arrived at this hotel we found that they had given our room reservation away to someone else. They indicated that the third party we had used to reserve the room had made the mistake. We found that they lied about this and it was the mistake of the hotel. The room they placed us in was a cheaper room, as I discovered on their website. I asked about the difference in cost and they indicated that they were all about the same. Another lie. In addition, the room they placed us in smelled of vomit! The Denny's restaurant at the hotel was so short staffed that there was no one to bus the tables. When we walked in food and plates were left on several tables. Overall this was a bad experience. We are trying to get a refund through the third party we booked this with. read more

When I decided to visit Ely, several friends mentioned that I had to stya in the historic Hotel Nevada and I'm glad I did. The hotel was built in 1929 and while it shows its age in some ways, if I were to guess having not known, I would have thought she was younger than almost 90. The room I had was a standard double bed. It was a small room but more than adequate for my needs. I wish I had a small table or desk for my laptop. Instead, I sat in bed and worked with it on my lap. The Keurig coffee maker was perfect in the morning. Two cups of coffee to get me started before going downstairs for breakfast. The hotel is decorated in several places with murals, items from years past from farm and kitchen, and historic photos. In front of the hotel is a Walk of Fame with stars for the names of people who have stayed at the hotel. The casino is somewhat small by standards I'm used to. It was smoky at times (smoking in the hotel is forbidden). Parking was easy. There are some spaces on the east side of the hotel and a lot of places in a lot behind the hotel. The front of the hotel has cones to reserve spaces for motorcycles that seem to be there every day. Then staff was very pleasant. My one complaint would be the light coming from the Jailhouse Casino across the street. It's like I had a large night light in my room and the flashing from the sign was somewhat distracting. I learned the second night to place my laptop's case on top the air conditioner and that blocked that flashing but above the curtains and on the side, light was evident nonetheless. read more

We had another great nights stay at the Hotel nV in Reno. We haven't been there in a few years and they've remodeled the rooms. We stayed in 403. A 2 double bed with a tub shower combo. The bed was the most comfortable I've slept on in years!! Staff was exceptional. We really wanted to watch the Yankee's Giants game and despite being run ragged by customers she (Missy I think?) took time to find it and actually stuck up for us when a customer asked to change. She left us with a tv on game and changed others. She was super great with everyone. The pm and Am front desk staff were also wonderful. Good nights sleep for a great value. We'll be back! read more

The girl who checked us in was short with me, the bartender wasn't very attentive until we tipped her, and there was a man walking around monitoring people with their masks placement. We weren't sure what to expect, but were happy with our experience here. The building is historic in the area, and you can see its age, but they've obviously done some upgrades throughout. Our king room was comfortable, if not overly spacious. There were plenty of outlets for our needs. The bed was very comfortable. The AC/heat kept the room at a comfortable temp. If we'd do this again, we'd try to get the suite instead, just for a little more room. When we checked in, we got a voucher for a drink in the casino bar area. We also got a voucher for a basic breakfast in Denny's on-site in the morning. The hallways in the hotel were filled with old pictures, cowboy items, murals, etc. It was fun to look through those. They have an elevator conveniently located for getting luggage to our room. All the workers were friendly and helpful. It was close to several restaurants, within walking distance. Where to start? Check in was ridiculously convoluted. Finally understood that the clerk couldn't finish check in because her computer was down. Then she promptly handed me our keys. The clerk said she would need to verify our credit card and we would need to come back later to do so. Are we checked in or not? When we returned later in the day to verify our CC - she had no idea what we were talking about. Apparently, the CC charge went thru - it was already charged to our card. A minor annoyance. But totally unnecessary. We got to our room. (We had upgraded to a "suite".) We walked into a dilapidated room. Grossly filthy carpeting. The queen size bed took up most of the available floor space. The bathroom was a horror. The tub hadn't been cleaned properly. There was a perfect outline of a bar of soap on the edge of the tub. Human (hopefully) hair in the sink. The only outlet in the bathroom did not work. One tiny little table with two uncomfortable chairs. The TV was firmly bolted to the wall, so using the pivot was not possible. One outlet did not work out of the limites number of outlets in the room.It was considered a "suite" because it had a broken refrigerator and a questionable microwave. The upside of our room: the coffee maker worked. We were able to see into other rooms that the housekeepers were taking care of. They left room doors open as they cleaned. We noticed this when we left the hotel in the mornings. The other rooms appearedto be much nicer. New vinyl plank floors. Freshly painted walls. Lovely furnishings. Etc. Why didn't we just request a different room? The hotel was full. As were the rest of the hotels in the immediate area. We made the best of it and called it "camping". Our stay in this historic hotel was pleasant. It was affordable and the room was clean. The staff was helpful and friendly. But, in keeping with the period it was built was quite small. Rooms are small, clean and decorated to go with a historical theme, bathroom is small too and the water situation is true, just take a fast shower and it will be fine, in room coffee make, water bottle and WiFi, the a/c unit works well it cool the room very fast. We got a complimentary drinks in the evening and breakfast at Denny's . Affordable price for our room and extras, staff was prompt and friendly, nice walking around the area at night as the weather was perfect. No smoking, vaping and other shenanigans aloud in the hotel rooms. Casino smelled like consistent old cigarette smoke but not the rooms. The hotel/casino is very old. They have done a great job keeping up the appearance of the place. Old smoke is in the air but they are keeping the smoking out of the rooms which is nice. We stayed in a "room" which had a comfy bed and the cutest little bathroom. Staff was very helpful and super nice. Breakfast at Denny's in the hotel was free and Mary our waitress has been there for 23 years and super friendly. The guns on display are beautiful. It's a must visit. read more

The room and hotel is super cute. Parking is easy and convenient. They have really good and cheap beers. Some of the older slots that are getting hardier to find are here like quarter Wheel of Fortune which is great. The bathtub and bathroom is outdated, but it is still neat. Loved this hotel, very quaint. Rooms are upgraded very nicely. We opted for the larger master suite that actually had bunkbeds in a separate room because I had read the reviews about the tiny bathrooms. We ended up with two bathrooms one with a bath tub shower combo the other one with just toilet and sink. The sinks are very tiny but worked fine for us. Would definitely stay again, will probably try just a king bedroom to see how tiny the bathrooms really are. Nice that they give you two drink coupons and coupons to Denny's for breakfast. It was chilly there so it was nice that Denny's is attached to the hotel/casino so we didn't have to go back outside. read more

I love this place! Penny, Stephanie and Chelsea at the desk are outstanding all of the time. The casino is a great place to be, it is kept clean, the atmosphere is always fun, the machines are very well maintained, I often walk away with more cash than what I came in with, the bar tenders are creative and accommodating, I have never met a better group of people! Dennys is the Restaurant in house and they are certainly part of the team and are also awesome! Kelly is the first name to come to mind but I wish that I was better at remembering names because each waitress should have their name mentioned here (so should each bartender) but the service is A-1! The cooks do a great job too but the servers are kind, quick and amazing at making us feel like old friends while serving us and those around us with smiles and terrific attitudes. read more
