Well you get what you pay for and this place is proof. That said there are a lot of positives about…read morethis place. There are also some irratating aspects to staying here. Room selection is important as some of the rooms are subject to a lot of Noise both from the hallway and from the entertainment. I would suggest that building 5 or 6 are the quietest but further from the beach but not a long way. The breakfast and lunch restaurant is also a bit better and not so busy. We stayed in building 4 it was a bit noisy from the hall way as we were on the ground floor and near to where the wifi and restaurant sighnup was. The restaurant signup is daily which is a pain in the ass. You can do it online each morning at 8 but the app rarely works. The restaurants are shit, with the exception of the Picollo Medateranian. We tried three then just decided queing up for them was not worth it. The restaurant down by the beach is okay most nights were decent but it all depends on how many Mexican nationals there are on site. It can be a lot of beans and rice along with weird stewed meats. Beach is decent, alot of vendors coming by so if it bothers you don't go,. The pool scene up in building 5-6 is better and more laid back than down in 1,2,3. They price the seaview rooms higher but to be honest I couldnt stand all the noise all day. The shows are generally pretty lame. The drinks are good and the beer is Dos Equis so I was happy about that. All in all it's not bad if you can get a good deal on it. We paid 3200 for two, for 10 days but were ready to leave for sure. Really 5.5 out of 10. PS they keep the place really clean for the amount of traffic it gets!

Let's start with the only hiccup we experienced: the check-in process. When we arrived, the line was super long due to a large group arriving at the same time. It took about 45 minutes to check in, followed by another long wait for a golf cart to take us to our room. My only suggestion would be to create a separate line for guests who are not part of big groups to help streamline the process for everyone. That being said, once we were settled in, everything else was absolutely perfect. The staff is what truly made our stay exceptional. Every single person we passed greeted us with a smile and a warm "hello," "good morning," or "good evening." It felt like we were being welcomed by family. A few standout individuals deserve special recognition: Vanessa, our server at the beach club cabana, was an absolute angel. So sweet, so attentive--we had her two days in a row and felt like we had known her for years. From the moment we met her, she went above and beyond to make sure every part of our day was seamless. Always greeting us with the warmest smile and such genuine care, she made us feel like VIPs. Alberto at the front desk has the kindest energy. He checked in with us often, gave us great recommendations, and always made sure we felt taken care of. We hope he's there to greet us when we come back! He truly made us feel so special. Every time we saw him, it made our day better. Honestly, I don't even want to imagine coming back and not seeing him here--it just wouldn't be the same. Alberto is the besttttt. He's one of those rare people who truly loves what he does and pours his heart into it, and it shows in every single interaction. I wish we could do more than just leave a tip and a review--he (and so many of the amazing staff) deserve a promotion, a bonus, and all the recognition in the world. Alberto, if you're reading this: thank you for everything. You're forever part of our travel story, and we already can't wait to see you again. Benny, the bartender, made the best drinks we've ever had at an all-inclusive. The fact that you can upgrade to premium liquors was a nice touch, and he made sure to get to know us personally. Benny if you are reading this, I hope we get to practice our spanish and english together when we get back and we can't wait for those tasty drinks!! Miguel & Guadalupe at the buffet welcomed us like family and made each visit a pleasure. Miguel & Guadalupe if you are reading this thank you for your incredible service we hope to see you when we come back! Rosalinda, our concierge, was phenomenal--always smiling, always attentive, and truly went above and beyond for us. She was an absolute gem. She checked in on us constantly, made sure we had everything we needed, and was always one step ahead. I I was so moved by her kindness and dedication that I even wrote her a personal note before we left--that's how much of an impact she had on our experience. I truly hope she is still here when we return, because I can't imagine having anyone else as our concierge at the spa. Rosalinda, if you're reading this--thank you from the bottom of our hearts. You made our trip unforgettable. The spa team deserves its own shoutout. We had massages that left us floating on air. The spa itself is like a peaceful oasis with a private pool, sauna, and steam room. The ladies who gave us our massages were incredibly skilled and kind. We loved every second of it. On top of all that, the resort grounds are stunning. There are so many pools to explore, beautiful beach views, and plenty of spots to relax and recharge. This was one of those rare vacations where you leave already planning your return. The staff here isn't just doing a job--they're creating a home-away-from-home for every guest. They all deserve a huge thank you (and a raise!) because our stay would not have been what it was without them. Thank you for such an amazing stay. We'll see you soon! I am wishing the staff all the BEST truly they deserve it - they made our stay unforgettable. Genesis & Anthony

There's probably only like three for the entire hotel so you are waiting a long time. If you have mobility issues, you would be waiting pretty much all day to get to and from places. The food is awful. My friend and I had to spit some of it out. The pantry place doesn't really have much to eat. The walls in the rooms are paper thin and kids are always yelling in the hallway.

We were genuinely looking forward to staying at Distrito 88 and had carefully planned this trip…read more The service we received revealed a level of rigidity and indifference that was genuinely alarming. One week before our scheduled arrival, cartel-related violence broke out in the broader region due to the assassination of the leader El Mencho. Public reporting and widely circulated videos showed masked gunmen firing weapons in public streets, vehicles and gas stations set on fire, and road blockades established in multiple areas. The U.S. government issued advisories urging travelers to shelter in place and avoid unnecessary movement. This was not vague travel anxiety. It was documented unrest occurring days before we were set to arrive. I personally spoke with several people who had friends or family visiting the region who feared for their lives. After reviewing the situation at length, we made a safety-based decision not to proceed. Our airline refunded us. Another accommodation on this same trip refunded us. Distrito 88 refused to offer any flexibility on a $1,600 reservation. What was most troubling wasn't simply the refusal. We received repeated, almost scripted responses stating that everything was "happy and vibrant as always" and emphasizing that a "travel advisory is not a travel restriction." Technically, that distinction may be correct. But dismissing legitimate safety concerns less than a week after visible, documented violence I saw with my own eyes felt profoundly unreasonable. There was a complete lack of empathy and no cooperation to even provide a partial refund. We understand that conditions may have improved since those events, and we genuinely hope that is the case for the safety of the local community and visitors alike. However, our decision was made based on the realities at the time- widely reported unrest and official government advisories. It is not reasonable to expect travelers monitoring those developments to disregard them simply because a property assures them that everything is peaceful. We understand cancellation policies during normal circumstances. This was not normal. Hospitality is not only about enforcing fine print, it requires exercising judgment when circumstances change quickly and safety concerns are credible. Instead, the decision conveyed that protecting short-term revenue took precedence over acknowledging a good-faith concern for personal safety. Keeping $1,600 under these conditions may be defensible under policy. It also demonstrates that revenue protection takes priority over legitimate safety concerns raised by guests. This is not the standard of hospitality we expect, or support. Future travelers should consider carefully before booking.
