The dogs they thought could sauna

Ok, I felt like I had visited a Rosebud Hotel straight out of Schitt's Creek POST renovations. It was honestly so much fun, and completely changed my opinion on motel stays. Would I stay at another motel? Only if it's redone like this In each room they had cool images of what the hotel looked like back in its "prime" aka before renovations. It was really cool to see! They had one of the best pet policies we've seen in idk how long: * $15 per dog * dogs allowed on furniture * no breed or weight restrictions * dogs allowed to be left unattended in a crate * pup packages provided with pet bed, tennis ball, and treats Hotel Rapids really has it all, too! They have the nicest mixologist from Denton that made HANDS DOWN the BEST old fashioned I've ever had. They also make phenomenal crepes. I did the "make your own" with bacon, egg, and cheddar - I ate the SAME crepe for 3 days. They have truly mastered the crepe making. There's also two patios, a sauna, workout room with one of those wifi trainer mirrors, and a yurt for activities. We can't wait to come back to Grand Rapids just for this cute hidden gem!

Absolutely love this motel! The price was the best in the area and it's adorable. It's clean, updated, unique and pretty posh for the middle of Minnesota. The crepes are delish! The yurt is so cozy! Don't skip this place! Came for a night as a stopover but will be back to enjoy the area!

If coming from the south, you drive thru the countryside, then come to a 'town'. This hotel is right on the main drag. When we pulled up, we thought we were at the Schitts Creek hotel. Knowing they allow pets in some rooms here, I asked for a pet free room. I love dogs, I'm just allergic to them. There was a short, dark haired girl at reception, who was also (maybe) the bartender. As we were checking in, I nicely asked her to confirm we were in a pet free room. She ignored me and went about the check in process. Thinking she didn't hear me, I asked again. She again ignored me, so I let it go...figuring she heard me. Well we get to the room and it has an overwhelming perfume stench. This is a blatant sign of an establishment trying to cover up pet smell. Then I noticed dog hair all over the floor. My husband picked it up and I decided not to make a fuss since we were with another couple. That couple got a different room with no perfume or previous pet presence. After about 20 mins, my eyes started to swell and I couldn't stop sneezing. So I go to the front desk and ask the girl why she put us in a pet room when I asked her not to 2 times and put it on my reservation. She said *verbatim* "oh I thought you didn't NEED it and were just trying to be difficult." At that point, I almost lost my sh#t, but as an educated professional, I can play a poker face. I asked her if she had other empty rooms. She said yes. Then I said 'so YOU decided, without further inquiring on the reason for my request, that I was just being difficult and to spite me, you gave me a pet room'. She just blinked her eyes and stared at me. Not the brightest bulb in the box. I also saw dog hair on the top bedding when I went back to the room. Needless to say, we didn't stay here that night. I contacted the 3rd party I booked through and requested a refund on the aforementioned grounds above. Ohh and it's so loud there with the sooped up cars coming thru, they give you ear plugs (note image). You won't sleep anyways, as my friends who stayed there noted. So if you want a loud hotel, no sleep, to be covered in dog hair, with a spiteful front desk staff bc of the simplest request, this is your place!

Don't even hesitate -- just come. Where do I even start? If you come to Grand Rapids, you HAVE TO come to this place. Our eyes were initially caught by the great photos on the Google listing, but we had no idea the experience we were in for. The first employee we met was Brooke. She was not only friendly but we noted that she also makes crepes and operates the kitchen (their crepe menu is EXTENSIVE btw). We asked her about their bar and she told us we had to come to the bar with Chris, the bartender, because he is the best in town. We didn't have time to stop at the bar on our first day, but we stopped for breakfast the next morning and met Nancy. Not only did she ALSO make incredible crepes, but the way she talked about her coworkers made us want to come back. That night, we met the highly-acclaimed Chris, who we ended up keeping way past his clock out time by accident by sharing stories and passions. The amount of creative passion he exerts for not only his cocktail curation but the hotel team/family kept us effortlessly in conversation for hours. If you want to have an interesting convo, stop by the bar. We also met the manager Lauren, who was super friendly and talked about how much she loves working here. All in all, you can tell that every single person here not only wants to be here, but loves people and creating an awesome experience. And that's not even covering the hotel. As for the hotel, the modern speakeasy vibes are amazing and it's a place you'll want to spend your free time on your trip. The room was clean and cute and everything was in great shape. Don't hesitate to stay here -- but if you do, make sure you het the full experience! But even if you're not staying here, you need to come here. Truly wish we could give this above 5 stars!

I'd say it was just odd, tho not so bad that we weren't nose blind to it shortly after arriving & didn't notice it while in the room. King room with plenty of space, outlets, lighting, temperature control & in-room amenities. The pad on the bed wasn't pulled tight or it wasn't sized correctly. I didn't sleep well because I could feel the lumps and ripples (princess & the pea moment). If I'd noticed BEFORE getting in bed, I'd have fixed it. I was flat-out beat tho & took the lazy way out. We, again, hit up breakfast. They had the standard spread of waffle maker, eggs (scrambled, omelet-like & boiled), sausage, potatoes & we greatly appreciated the seasonings & sauces available to give that same ole same ole a bit of pop. Parking was easy & we didn't use anything here besides the room & breakfast. We arrived late & left early the next morning, to officially start our tour. Note: We were 3rd of 4 in line to check in. The gal whipped out waters for #1, thanked him for being a Diamond member, told him what his points/bonus points were, explained ALL the hotel info - pool, gym, breakfast, check-out. # 2 gets up to the desk & the gal asks if they've stayed before, she replies not here but a lot of best westerns, giggle & gives hotel some info / #2 asks if there's Diamond Elite parking spaces (casual for hey, no mention of my loyalty, perhaps?) - response was "no, we're not that fancy" - no water given. We get up & the gal says, "did you catch all that or do you want it repeated?" We say we're good & she says most important thing is breakfast is at 6a - no waters for us. #4, took her back to interaction style of #1. It could be inconsistent or efficient, depending on how you look at it. (Had we asked for water, they no doubt would have given it. We had our own & it was perfectly visible at check-in.) Hubs is Diamond Elite. We booked direct with Best Western & didn't use points.

This was, without question, the worst hotel experience I have ever encountered, and it has left me…read morequestioning the standards and practices maintained at your property. My party consisted of myself, my wife, my mother-in-law, and--most critically--our 9-day-old daughter, which made the condition and functionality of the hotel especially important. Below is a comprehensive list of the issues we encountered during our short but deeply disappointing stay: 1. Undisclosed Amenity Closures Upon arrival, I was informed that the pool, hot tub, and both ice machines were out of order. At no point during booking was this mentioned, which is a clear failure of transparency and a breach of expectations based on your advertised amenities. 2. Room Confusion at Check-In After being handed my room key, the front desk attendant abruptly paused me to double-check whether someone else had already been checked into the same room earlier that day. This does not inspire confidence in your reservation system or guest security protocols. 3. No Hand Soap or Bar Soap in Room Upon entering the room, we discovered no hand soap or bar soap was provided. When I went to the front desk, I was told the hotel was out of soap entirely and was offered body wash as a substitute. For any guest this would be unacceptable--but for us, traveling with a newborn infant, this posed a serious health and sanitation risk during a time when hygiene is critically important for feeding, diaper changes, and newborn care. I was forced to leave the hotel and purchase soap from a nearby gas station at my own expense. 4. Plumbing Leak in Bathroom At approximately 1 a.m., I discovered a large puddle of water in the bathroom, which was leaking from the pipe under the sink. Upon inspection, I found that the leak had clearly been a known issue, as a towel had been wrapped around the pipe as a makeshift fix--prior to our arrival. The sink also failed to drain properly, leaving standing water in the basin throughout our stay. 5. Unauthorized Entry by Staff Later in the morning, we were startled by a hotel employee entering our room unannounced, waking up our 9-day-old daughter. The staff member apologized, claiming that the room was showing as unoccupied in the system. This is a major breach of privacy and guest safety, especially given the age of our child. 6. Inadequate and Dirty Bedding Both beds in the room were made with sheets that were too small for the mattresses, causing them to come loose repeatedly during the night. Additionally, the microwave was filthy, with visible food splatter inside when my mother-in-law attempted to use it. 7. Filthy Bathroom and Linens The shower had hair in it from a previous guest, and the towel I used after showering had pubic hair on it, which was disgusting and left me feeling dirtier than before I entered the shower. This level of uncleanliness is inexcusable in any hospitality setting. 8. False Advertising of Breakfast Despite advertising a complimentary breakfast, there was no breakfast available during our stay. This was another serious letdown in a long series of broken promises. 9. Poor Staff Conduct and Facility Maintenance Throughout the hotel, the garbage cans were overflowing, including those in the lobby and outside. To make matters worse, members of the hotel staff were heard loudly complaining about their jobs while sitting in the public areas, with one even commenting that they were on a "three-hour break from cleaning."

The weather got chilly quickly, so I didn't have the opportunity to try the rest of the amenities. The pool is currently closed for construction. (There is a nice pool at the YMCA in Grand Rapids which we used one day for a $10 day pass). We stayed in a two bedroom lakefront cabin which was nice, but fairly rustic, and one of the bedrooms had absolutely no storage, (no closet, shelves or dresser).
