Not to be confused with, but affiliated with the hotel down the street, Idyll was casual in almost every way. I'll keep this review simple because my visit only affording me the chance to see their outdoor area. And while it was great, the menu was the most captivating part of the whole experience. Of the dozen-or-so people we had in our group, we unanimously decided literally everything on the menu was worth a try. My only complain was that the beer selection could use some expansion. But, the overall check-time, friendly service and clean and relaxed atmosphere more than made up for it. Idyll was a fantastic choice. I could easily see -on the right day- this being a very casually romantic spot, or just a great place to catch a bite with some friends.

We went to the other side of the restaurant, to get away from any prejudice from the other night. We ordered a simple pork knuckle, but instead of mashed potatoes we wanted roasted. the order came, a pork "Shank" and mashed potatoes, 10 minutes later when we were able to flag down our waitress I asked her to look at our plate and tell me what's wrong? She immediately saw that the potatoes were wrong and took off to correct it. another 10 minutes later we got enough roasted potatoes for 6 people, served in a 2 quart bowl. My wife and I ate maybe 10 pieces, before we laid down our forks. The pork "Shank" was disappointing, anyone who has had a pork "Knuckle" will know what I mean. After dinner we ordered a Expresso Martini for her and a "Adios Mo-Fo", a play on a "Long Island Ice Tea" in 10 minutes the wife got hers, and by the time she finished it my AMF, still had not arrived. When we were finally able to flag down our waitress and asked for the check I informed her to make sure the AMF was NOT on the bill. She tried to make excuses but I shut her down and asked for the check, again. When it came I told her I wanted a receipt, got it and pocketed it, and we walked back to the hotel. In our room I looked at the receipt and threw it down and raised my hands in a "Field Goal", the wife was like, "WTF!" so I showed her the bill, the AMF was not listed but they charged us 5.50 euro's for the additional roasted potatoes. the 5.50 euros is going to be the payment for the next yelp they get from me. I hope the owner sees this and understands this is NOT a way to run a business, if you can't run it properly with the staff you have then hire more, or train the ones you have, better! I got the steak salad and it was huge. It was a large plate piled 6 inches high with lettuce, a thin slice of tomato and a mushroom with the vinegar and oil dressing on the side. The small chunks of steak was pretty tender. The dressing was tasty and properly seasoned. My only minor wish? The salad lettuce was made up of large, whole leaves and that made it hard to eat, especially on a plate and not in a large bowl. The Flammekuchen looked great and everyone loved theirs. The coworker sitting next to me had ordered the traditional one and said it was exactly what it should have been. We all talked about going back and ordering a few specialty Flammekuchen including dessert ones and sharing. Really lovely location and establishment, too.
