So our room was on the 3rd floor. As we returned to the elevator, we saw there's no buttons, and we had to look for the stairs to get down.

This place needs to be demolished and redone right. The employees are great, but the owners need to ask themselves, "Would they stay at a place with roaches and holes in the walls., stained floors, and rooms smelling like meldo and cigarettes?by the wa, they advertise refrigerators , but none if the rooms have theme. I hahad booked it for 5 nights but ended up staying for 8bhrs and I left.

Of all the times that... I have been to the Los Angeles Ca area on vacation this was my very 1st time ever that I have stayed at this hotel which was The GuestHouse International Hotel of Norwalk Ca!!! And the time that I have stayed at GuestHouse International Hotel which was back on July 11, 2017 which was on a Tuesday!!! And before then I have never heard of this hotel before until when I went on yelp just to read the past and the most recent yelp reviews of the GuestHouse International Hotel!!! And also back then I didn't even know that the GuestHouse International Hotel was used in the movie National Lampoons Vacation which was the crazy Chevy Chase movie!!! This GuestHouse International Hotel wasn't to bad on my 1st of my 3 days stay the rooms were very comfortable for me... Another thing was I was happy that the toilet and the shower bath tub were working and had no problems!!! And also what I really like most about the GuestHouse International Hotel which was the eating breakfast in the morning which was paid for on my 4 days tour of Southern California!!! Now that I got a chance to stay at this GuestHouse International Hotel just like the time when Chevy Chase was here and had his National Lampoons Vacation filmed here which was back in the year of 1982!!! And who knows if I would be able to go back and have another chance to stay at The GuestHouse International Hotel and for me this GuestHouse International Hotel wasn't that bad at all I really like this GuestHouse International Hotel!!!

This place should be fined in the millions for this shit.

This place is a shit hole. Roaches in the rooms, he bugs in the beds. Rooms are unclean in every aspect of the worst term for the word. The LA county health inspector need to visit this establishment asap. This place exceeds health code violations on every level. Do not start at this place, hopefully they will go put off business and be forced to close down permanently.

Zero stars. The workers are so rude and don't care. I waited 40 mins to have somebody change out the battery in the smoke detector. I called the front desk again and I was told they would call me right back with an ETA. Ten minutes later still no call so I went to the front desk and the two ladies there didn't seem to care, I explained that I need to go to sleep because I had to work soon and they said well we don't have any batteries so I don't know what to tell you. They could have handled the situation much better or offered a solution. There's also prostitution going on a few doors down. Don't stay here unless you want rude workers and semi clean room. Also no breakfast, no bbq area and no restaurant or bar as advertised. They don't even clean your rooms here. Towels had somebody else's hair on them, bed sheets have holes and room is very dated.

First off, never been bagged checked at a wedding! Super un-classy!!! Visited for my cousins wedding. Parking - arrived their at 1630 and greeted by a kid trying to sell me a fake watch. Waited at the parking lot for a bit because the party started at 1700. Walked in the lobby about 1705 and had to wait another 10 minutes because the staff wasn't ready setting up. Wasn't my wedding so I wasn't worried. Venue I wouldn't recommend it. Two ball rooms and night club outside at a hotel in Norwalk. Hints the security presents. The bag search was a big turn off but again it's not my wedding. Worst part was when I was asked for a high chair due to me seeing three already set up at the ball room, wait staff hastily answered no more! After searching for ten minutes they found one. Bar - open bar but why was bar tender charging only after 10 minutes of the bar opening? That was quickly corrected but no refund was given. Again, the uniformed security guard present in the bar and lobby is an underlining reason why I wouldn't recommend this venue. I do understand the safety requirements and need. I would reissue the security staff a blazer and tie uniform then the current rent a cop uniform. Train the wait staff in costumer service and QA the food!

Rant over. The Double Tree was right there it seemed so we went in. Thankfully we carry TO GO bags in case I get too tired to drive or just want to stop. We walked in and it was hot outside. The front desk I think knew I was livid and kept me calm and they helped me. They were great. We were able to get a room right away. We had no reservations so the price I thought was high for a hotel that needs a refresh, but we were trapped. No matter, our room was small, but super clean and all I needed was there. We even used the pool and it was great with some nice seating. They have an eatery right there and we had both dinner and breakfast there and it was great and the staff was wonderful. The only reason they have a 4 and not a 5 is because it is time to refresh the place, but the staff is a solid 5. They were great to us and if we are near again we might go back there, this time with a reservation.

I had a great experience here. My room was right in front of where I had parked and it was…read moredownstairs and I can't complain about that. I had one of those adjoining door type of situations not too sure with the formal name of that is called but where the parents could be in one room and the kiddos can be in another the only issue with that is is that when someone sitting against the wall near that door you can hear the voices but once the TV is on it drowned out the sound. Fortunately for me my neighbors were not that loud all throughout the night. They had more normal tones in regards to their conversation so I didn't have to complain or ask anyone to turn down the volume or the noise. The king size bed was clean, I had four pillows that were fluffy and although I do not sleep under their blankets/sheets, but I always bring a sheet or something else that I can sleep on top of that. It's just my personal preference. I have never been bitten by bedbugs in any hotel and I must be doing something right. This bed was somewhat firm but not extra firm and I got comfortable sleep as I brought my own 'my pillow' with me as well. The shower/bath tub was nice size and like the additional security of having a hand held rail inside to hold onto as I stepped in. It was super clean ... the whole room as a whole was very clean. I had no issues whatsoever. The air conditioning worked beautifully. The TV had a multiple selection of channels, there was coffee inside the room with the coffee maker,a refrigerator that was clean, there's an ironing board already in their closet with an iron and there's bags that you could use when doing your own laundry. Plenty of towels and lotions and shampoos and different kind of hygiene things one may need all within reach. The check-in was pretty easy and I like the fact that I booked my room on booking.con with no cancellation fee as long as I called before 7 PM but obviously I was there and checked in right. I walked up to the front desk a little after 830pm and was given a room key with the WiFi's info and told that check out was the following day at 11 AM and that they serve breakfast up until 9 AM. Although I slept in - when I got up to get some ice I walked by the breakfast area the smell of the eggs and bacon were filling in the hallways. I looked inside the breakfast area that had a nice station and it's own isolated room - next time I'm gonna have to have that. I was told when I checked in that I could telephone when I was checking out. That didn't work out so well as I called multiple times to the front desk but I didn't feel comfortable just leaving my room key in the room but leaving well before the 11 o'clock hour. So after calling the desk multiple times to no answer I walk up there and there's an older lady behind the desk was standing there looking at something on the computer. Nobody was in the front office so I don't understand why she could not take the time to answer the phone so that I could've checked out via phone and left from there. It's not that big of a deal but it just goes to show that no matter how many times one calls the front desk if they're not busy that same person might do the same thing to someone else. Now this is not a five-star hotel with all of the luxuries and the amenities but I have to say for being right off of Firestone Boulevard, down the street from Portos and all the other goodness that Downey has to offer this is a great hotel to stay in. It's safe, there is ample parking, it's well lit, easy check-in with an easy cancellation when booking on booking.com and I had no issues whatsoever with that. I actually used Trivago and they directed me to booking.com which had the lowest rate!!!! The price was comparable to others in the area if not cheaper. The sooner you book the better rate you get.

The room was clean and comfortable, but what really made our stay stand out was the service. Everyone we encountered was incredibly sweet and gracious, but ASHLEY M. truly went above and beyond. I had originally asked for a pool view but couldn't really see it from our room. Without hesitation, she said, "Give me a moment," and rearranged things to get us a room with a proper pool view. That alone was amazing, but then I realized I had left something behind in the previous room. Ashley immediately reassured me and had someone retrieve it and bring it right over. She handled everything with such kindness, a smile, and genuine care, it really made a difference. When we checked out, I believe the manager's name was Isaac (I didn't catch it for sure), and he was just as pleasant and professional. You could tell the way the place is run reflects strong, gracious leadership. Overall, it was a wonderful experience. Clean, welcoming, and filled with kind people who truly care. Definitely two thumbs up!

This stay was far below expected standards in cleanliness & guest care. I would strongly advise against staying here. I endured an extended business stay at this property and from the start, the room was not properly cleaned -- food debris on the floors, a heavily soiled couch with crumbs throughout, and an unsanitary shower head that required replacement. Maintenance issues, including plumbing (foul smelling water) and power concerns, took days to resolve. Housekeeping was inconsistent and often unacceptable. On multiple occasions, floors were not cleaned, sheets were not changed, and visibly stained bedding was placed on the bed. Debris was left behind, including someone else's hair and trash, indicating the room was not properly serviced. Most concerning, I experienced insect activity and developed a significant bite during my stay that is still healing. A colleague on the same floor reported similar issues. This raises serious sanitation and health concerns. Despite multiple reports, concerns were dismissed or inadequately addressed at the management level. Rather than resolving the issues, responses were deflective and unprofessional. I ultimately had to escalate this matter to corporate to receive any acknowledgment. For a Marriott property, this is unacceptable and this establishment is unfit. I would never return to this property.

The food in the restaurant and breakfast buffet is quite mediocre and I'd suggest going somewhere else. Our room had several broken features starting with the curled up rug in the sitting area which is actually a trip hazard. The door from the sitting area to the bedroom was actually broken and hard to open and close. The motion sensing light switch for the bathroom was physically cracked and the manual override had to be pressed several times to get the light to come on at all. When I picked up the phone to call about it, the cord fell out of the handset, and even when I plugged it back in it didn't work. The tub drain was laying in the tub and I wasn't going to be the one to re-install it. Even the TP roll holder was broken and the jacuzzi was out of order. I had even called to ask if they had a jacuzzi. They said they did, but didn't feel it necessary to tell me it had been broken for weeks. The bed was comfortable, the temperature acceptable, and the fridge worked. The place is worn out and in need of a full restoration if they're going to charge premium prices! I booked through Expedia, so they were unable to do anything to make up for these shortcomings other than comp my parking fee and offer me a can of low-end beer.

Within a month later, we received a phone call from Angelica along with a Filipina associate named Meg stating that there was a mishap with the booking -- that the day of was "double booked" with a Salvation Army all-event! You can imagine how livid we were; demanding for them to correct this; being forthright with the initial contract and the fact that there were no other rooms available on our fixed date. They exclaimed they (Salvation Army) were "dedicated" annual contractors and tried to insist having the nerve to try and downgrade the venue in the Dining Room!! This was utterly proposterious and outrageous, I was enraged and yelled at Angelica with just how appalled we were with this whole debacle -- an absolute disservice in having the audacity to treat their customers like this after we have already sent out physical invitations to our guests coming out-of-town and out-of-country. We demanded the refund of our down-payment. There was a leu of procrastinations even getting that back! It almost felt we were getting stiffed.
