This place actually isn't bad at all. I stayed here in August 2019 while visiting town for a work event. The lady at the front desk that checked me in was nice and explained everything to me. The property itself is definitely a motel rather than a hotel. With that being said, it is one of the best properties in 2-3 mile radius. The room was quite good, very modern furnishings, ice cold A/C, comfy bed, and the WiFi wasn't bad. It was a little slow, good enough for browsing the internet, but not good enough if you're wanting to work remotely and join conference calls etc. Overall I had a good stay here, and would recommend this place if you need somewhere to stay in Downey, and on a budget. read more

I was bit by bed bugs. I've been staying here for the past 9 years or so. Unfortunately, this time was different. Room was visibly clean but after a little inspection, I couldn't say it was. I woke up after the second night with bedbug bites on my arm, back, and leg. With my 15 month old in the bed and bit a few times as well, I was pretty upset. Way Overpriced for what it is. This is definitely more like one of those places that you need for just a few hours. Perfect if you need a place to just shower, get ready, and go. I wouldn't bring my kids to sleep here again. Bedding felt old and was stained, walls and dirty, shower curtain stained, felt icky when showering. We feel ripped off $335 Friday-Sunday. You can tell things look a little modern except for the one thing that's important the TVs were like from 2000. We couldn't hook up to the Internet and the Wi-Fi sucks. That is not cool. This place is a rip off. I called to confirm that the rooms were only $100 a night as I needed a place to stay in Downey (near my job interview the next morning) as I didn't have much money. Over the phone, I was told one night was only $100. Then, once I get all the way there I was told I had to pay the $100 AND a $100 deposit. It was late, I was tired, needed to be near my interview, and didn't know where else to go so I paid the $200. I was told I'd get my $100 back when I checked out in the morning. It never happened. They played that "you need to contact your bank" game. They should just say the rooms are $200 a night, since that is what they are going to charge you. They don't tell you about the $100 deposit over the phone and I didn't see anything about it on their website. read more

This place was quite accommodating! I had a very big mishap (my booking error) and was helped out with the front desk. My husband works out of town and must stay near the freeway while he works. This is a reasonable price and location is ok. It was right before the holiday and even though it is busy the front desk made sure to help get my husband checked in and my reservations banes switched out of my name and into his. Awesome place! this is the most nastiest inn i have ever stayed in my life its dirty expensive and really ghetto we payed $136 for a two room the pillows were super hard and the sheets reeked of cigarette the room smelled like mold and the carpet was so dirty i had my 2 kids with me and we had some really noisy people upstairs they had the music blasting until 2:30 am the people next door slamming on the wall and the girl screaming her guts out it was horrible i will never be back here again and don't recommend to anyone with children or a family at all it was a horrible night with no sleep. read more

On Christmas Day we had a bad experience with a airbnb being terrible. We have stayed at Studio Inn over a dozen times in the past. We called needing a place for my family of 7 in a desperate moment and Noah was so amazing! He showed us two suites that would fit our family and didnt gouge us in prices just because it was a holiday. He truly helped us and we are so thankful we had a place to stay for the week. Studio Inn is Downeys hidden gem and we will be back for sure. Also found out its under new ownership so Im looking forward to the great new changes they will make! Had some family drama and needed a room for one night. I found this location via Yelp. Called in to find out if they had any vacancies. Vinay answered the phone and was well spoken, kind, polite and very informative. Good price on the room, the 5% Yelp Check in was honored. The room is nice and clean, clean bathroom and toilet. Microwave and fridge were both clean. Firm bed, which I love. The bathroom didn't have a shower curtain liner, just the fabric curtain. There is even USB ports right next to the bed on either side. I would definitely recommend this hotel. We have bookmarked this hotel and will come back when we need a break away from the crazies! read more

I called on the phone to find out about the AAA Discount, the person on the phone was helpful and very polite. The room was clean and the environment quiet. I didn't see any bums or stragglers hanging out or around. Parking can be a little tight but I imagine that's the reason they give an OVERNIGHT PARKING PASS to put in your window to prevent visitors from taking up all the parking. The bed was comfy. Good location close to restaurants, shopping malls and shopping centers including a few attractions. Parking lot was dirty full of old furniture, it looked like they were remodeling the rooms. There were a couple of guys standing outside looking at who's coming in and out, I was concerned for the stuff in my car. Parking spaces are not assigned so any one can park right outside your door. The room was not to my standards. As soon as we walked in the room there was a strong smell that didn't go away. Room was too small even for a family of four ( mom, dad, boy 2yrs and baby). There was only one roll of toilet paper, one towel, one bar of soup. There was no blankets just a sheet to cover ourselves. Room: very clean, big, comfortable beds, the restroom just beautiful with the best mirror. Clean fridge and microwave, nice tv. This is a ghetto hotel. There are no "suites". It's a motel, not a hotel. And it shows. It tries to be a decent place but it really isn't. They want to charge you 50 bucks for early check-in's, even if you want to check-in an hour before the allowed time. There's less than 50 rooms & they need all day to clean them? Are these maids down with CSI that they need to clean so throughly? Cuz I've gotta tell you, their rigorous cleaning doesn't show. Trashbags and towels with all kinds of DNA thrown about on the floor of the hallways. Vending and ice machines smell as if someone urinated on them. The rooms smell like rotting wet carpet. The trash cans are always overflowing & they actually keep the worst one at the top of the steps, right next to the entry of a "suite". So you'll probably wind up with some additional guests of the insect kind when you open the door. The Wi-Fi sucks. You're better off getting rabbit ears for your cell phone. The service is actually better standing outside of the hotel than in the room. The towels are dingy and rough. There are some nice parts about the room like the mirror & the tb until you realize it's Spectrum & there's almost always a delay on changing channels. When you lay down on the usually broken, and extremely noisy bed everyone who has checked in can hear when you're laying down. The sheets wreak of bleach & sxx. Another little tidbit they don't share with you is they charge you a deposit nearly the amount you pay for the room, as if you could damage it anymore than it already is. read more

I spent a week looking for a not too expensive hotel for a special one night stay. I compared prices and reviews and decided to go here after I called and found out that they take cash deposits. I spoke to Jessica who was willing to get me as close as she could to the hotels.com price. She answered all my questions and informed me that the rooms were recently updated. When we arrived check in was fast and easy. The room was nice and clean and the updates were new paint and carpet. I checked the bed and bathroom, both clean. The bathroom was a bit small but the vanity was outside of the bathroom so it didn't matter. The place was quiet. With plenty to eat and do in the area. Check out was painless. I only waited a few minutes to get my deposit back because I paid in cash and they had to look at the room first. I have no complaints about this place and would definitely go back read more

I only stayed here because my main motel Days Inn was totally booked. The red is a nice touch to the rooms, I love the pop of color mixed with the beige tones. I wish the bedspreads were red too. Speaking of the bedspreads, their so-called top "blanket/comfortor" is a joke. It's basically just another sheet, it's so thin. The shower was a hassle to work, some weird new-age thing so be sure to call to the Front Desk if you can't work it. At least the cable TV had good selections. They charged the wrong card after check-out, but was able to fix situation only because I was still in the area. OH but GET THIS; they had the NERVE to ask me if they could skip my room service one of my days because "there were only two maids working". And that is my problem WHY and HOW??? I'm still having a hard time figuring out why they would want to skip my room specifically. I should have asked how many rooms were they planning on skipping. I don't care if I'm staying 2 nights; IF A GUEST REQUESTS ROOM SERVICE, YOU GIVE IT TO THEM. THAT'S THE POINT OF PAYING TO BE A HOTEL. Wow. Lucky for them they didn't realize the maid had already went to my room anyhow when I had got back to the hotel. They need to step up their customer service. Awful! The parking lot feels unsafe. People hanging near office that didn't look like they were up to any good. The room we got smelled of smoke. There were hairs in the bed that didn't belong to us. As I undid the bed to get ready for bed, my daughter and I found 3 hairs! I called the office and asked for clean bedding. I get the part where you get what you pay for but for $140 I surely was expecting more. Bed comfortors had bad stains on them then hair on the sheets place was dusty and dirty in the corners like it never gets cleaned right plus the tv shelving was filthy. Coffee maker and cups and accessories were under the desk on the dirty floor and microwave was unplugged and in front of the tv. Neighbors were outside by the pool partying until about 2:00am then went upstairs above us and partied until 4:00am. Not a great experience at all. Stayed here while visiting LA, it takes about 40min drive or so to Hollywood and downtown but if you have a car it's a pretty good deal staying here. The room is spacious and clean, I didn't really like the red walls but that's not important. The bed is big but it isn't very comfortable, the mattress is hard and the bed sheets didn't help much. Wifi and breakfast are included. Don't expect too much at the breakfast, there are only simple things like toast, milk, granola bars and such. read more

Stayed here several times, not a bad place, but get some late nighters awake every time I have stayed here, some screams from time to time, and if you have any changes to your reservation and you can't be present when this happens be careful they will remove all your items out of the room with no notice. Told 2 different people at the front desk the situation, left my number if anything happens, both told me it was ok that it shouldn't be a problem and still manage to get it wrong and get all my items pulled from my room without my consent or notice. And then after retrieving I notice a missing blanket and again told 2 different people at this location and that the item is missing and the front desk has offered no solution... I'm out a blanket today who knows what I will he missing tomorrow !!! read more

I know you get what you pay for, but damn. Everything went well with check in, they even gave me the wi-fi code without having to ask. Got to my room - looked clean, came with fridge, microwave, iron, blow dryer. Wasn't expecting much since I just needed a place to stay for the night. I thought, hey, this isn't too bad! Went to sleep, I keep waking up because it's kinda cold and the blankets are thin. I also have watery eyes and a stuffy nose for some reason, start wondering about the cleanliness of the place.. Hear random noises throughout the night, footsteps, etc. 3:00 am the fire alarm starts beeping at one minute intervals. Probably means the batteries are low? Tried to call front desk - phone is either disconnected or .. not working? Not too sure, when I pick it up, it has no dial tone. Called the hotel with my cell phone, man answers "hello?" explain to him situation only for him to say "hello, hello?" again. Hang up. Im a young girl by myself so kinda scared to let anyone in at 3 o'clock in the morning anyway. So now I'm sitting here, wide awake writing this review. Came to the hotel because I have an important exam in Downey at 8:00am (I'm from San Diego) and didn't want to wake up early for the drive and be stressed out for my test. Guess that's not gonna happen! I'm guessing the batteries being low on the fire alarm is a rare occurrence, especially at this time of the night. Probably easily fixable if it wasn't so late (or early?) in the morning and I had the balls to have someone come in the room and fix it. Edit* - fire alarm finally stopped beeping after an hour or so. I'm guessing this place is either a hit or miss, +1 for a speedy check out and continental breakfast. Parish at the front lobby was EXTREMELY rude. If it wasn't 11 at night we would have definitely stayed elsewhere. He spoke very little English and it was hard to understand him. When I would ask questions about the hotel he would seem very aggravated. In no way was he hospitable whatsoever. I work in hospitality and would be ashamed and embarrassed if my coworkers ever treated a guest the way he treated us. The room itself looked okay. I stayed there last June, just after their rooms had been renovated. I stayed in the first room as you entered the driveway, their main handicap accessible room. I understand that they just did a remodel, but things were just disorganized. There were 3 remoted for the TV, just none of them worked. I won't say that the room was infested, but in the 2 hours that was there i got 9 bug bites. I could not even stay. I checked out 6:30 that same night. The manager was unavailable that day and was unavailable the multiple time that I called to follow up, the following week and did not receive a call back from my messages. I hope that they have cleaned up and are doing better now, but I have little interest to go back to see. read more

You get no cell phone service and if you log on to their supposedly free Wi-Fi AND don't read their terms and service agreement you won't Who is taking your information to and who their leaking your info to. While I was there I saw that they rather rent out to rooms to hookers instead of legitimate people who need them. Overall if I can give less stars I'd give it -5 stars. Its nearby a lot of shopping, food etc and parking is close to the rooms and plentiful. Here's the problem: the internet is horrible, and it's a dead spot for Verizon cell service. So decided to stay one night for a soccer Tournament and boy did I make the right choice, room was affordable and my girls were excited to stay somewhere other than home, got a King Size room and it was big! Our bes was very comfy and the girls slept in the pull out sofa bed, room was missing a couple, but with a simple phone call, it was taken care of right away.
