My wife and I went to Shoreham last night and we forgot to check the reviews, If I had I would have read my own review from years ago. We had the walleye with bones at $37 per serving, (pan fried I don't think so) we also had salads with a strong chemical smell and taste meaning nothing was washed straight from Sysco bag. The au gratin potatoes were undercooked as always. The somewhat warm bread from subway was served with frozen butter. I don't think the cook actually eats there. If they them do, then they them lost their taste buds from covid. The waitress ghosted us right from the start she made us feel irrelevant. The manager was talking to the bartenders but not customers on how their food was, which I think he is afraid of the truth. I am proof that reading reviews is important. I am very sad that our local hangout has become so expensive. A 16oz summer shandy for $7.50 which is considerably more than all the other local places we've been to, and even more than the local brewery and most breweries charge for a micro brew. Are you getting a 22 ounce IPA. $10.50. A margarita $11. A 14 inch pizza $30.50. A bottle of Pacifico $7.50. I'm not sure if they're trying to pay for all the remodeling they've done or what is going on with these prices are way more than they have ever been. The new deck is nice although I liked the old one, thank God they haven't started changing the inside that has all the history of DL by much. They now have a gaudy T-shirt showcase in the dining room. I would think that T-shirt room and the rolling rack when you first enter the restaurant would be enough. I guess that is the Zorba's ownership. Sell merchandise. I guess I should be happy our local restaurant is still there but I'm sorry your prices have gotten way out of line. We celebrated my dad's 80th birthday here. I researched the menu beforehand and everything seemed overpriced. I was right. Ordered egg roll wrapped pickle spears with havarti cheese. 8 of them is $12.50. Dipped in their homemade dill sauce, and yummy. I asked about the burgers and yes they are frozen. Big no for me. Again super spendy. Decided on French dip with chips as I could eat my husband's salad. This was dry and food service quality. The one I had in Eagle River Alaska was super good. I dipped in au ju. Brought half back and gave to the college kid. Wild rice bread was a tiny loaf that you cut yourself for the table. Kinda old school as I remember this from the 1970's. Had to ask for a second loaf as we had 6 people at the table. Had a bite of seafood pasta and super rich. The place was brown paneling and taxidermy fish and decor on the walls. So super expensive. Seems to cater to lake crowd from Fargo. Maybe pizza is the thing to order here. Probably won't be back. read more

What an exceptional experience! My girlfriend and I got to the hotel shortly before five and sat at the bar. We had a couple of cocktails and the Alfredo '10 pizza--the perfect size for 2 to split. As it's getting cooler the patio is no longer open and we sat in the bar area. It's a pretty tight space and can be loud. Our food was great. The au gratin potatoes were creamy and flavorful. My steak was perfectly prepared but could have benefitted from seasoning prior to cooking. The seafood pasta was creamy and delicious. I would leave out the fake crab and use just shrimp as the flavor of the fake crab can be overpowering. Service was good. read more

One of my favorite places in the lakes area and the new owners have made it even better. Don't go there if you want cheap food, that's not what they're about (although the pizza and appetizers are very reasonable). The walleye is fantastic and the pizza is just as good. So sad, Shoreham was always our ace in the hole to take friends and customers for good food. Friday night we took some friends out for food and drinks but we should have stopped at drinks. The shrimp scampi was shrimp boiled in butter. The walleye was soggy and flat tasting. The sirloin tips plate, I swear was Dinty Moore beef stew. Our server, Jamie was very pleasant and helpful and did reduce our bill. I'm biased because we used to stop here on our bike rides around the lake when I was a kid. So it is nostalgic for me. We stopped again recently, and it still has its historic charm. The old pictures and the fact that it was a vacation destination 100 years ago is pretty cool. The atmosphere alone is reason enough to visit. As for the food, it was pretty good. I got the enchiladas. They're pretty much like the enchiladas that you get everywhere else. The bread is really good, though! My mom said her sirloin was really good too. We all got big portions and needed to get doggy bags. The service was very friendly and accommodating. One of my relatives (I don't want to name names...) insisted on sitting at a different table in order to watch the baseball game. Hotel Shoreham is a busy, busy place! It is no doubt the place to see and be seen in DL on a weekend night. As others have said, parking is challenging, but don't let that stop you. Cocktails are good and inexpensive. The outdoor space is inviting - lots of places to sit down and wait for a table. And you will probably have to wait for a table. It is a charming place - but when you put in your table request, ask to be seated off the beaten track. Lots of people go in to the bar and never quite make it out again. They end up standing uncomfortably close to the tables down the middle. The menu is varied. They are famous for their walleye and burgers. From what I've seen of other entrees, it might be best to stick with either walleye or a burger. Other items on the menu seem pretty mediocre - with the exception of the fried pickles. Those are delicious! My caution to everyone is that the food is served HOT! Really HOT! Hotter than I've ever been able to get anything in my kitchen at home. I don't know what they do in the kitchen - microwave maybe? - but food is burn-your-mouth hot. Whatever you order, be careful about testing the temp of it before you pop a bite in your mouth. The band that played the last time I was there was great! Very versatile - had people dancing and singing along. It was fun. I'll definitely go back. It is the atmosphere as much as anything that makes me want to return. There aren't that many places to go in lake country. This one won't make the fine dining award list, but for a casual, inexpensive evening - it might be your best bet. read more

Stopped for beverages and appetizers. We enjoyed our wings, which were out of this world! Such a great flavored sauce on them as well as delicious ranch and blue cheese! We also enjoyed the amazing nachos! If you think the "Z" restaurant has good nachos, I challenge you to enjoy these. So delicious! The wait staff and owners were friendly and just plain great! Hotel Shoreham has been around forever, was surprised to learn that Zorbas bought them recently. Fear not, NOTHING HAS CHANGED. The pizza ordered outside and consumed on the patio is still good, the Walleye is still great and the crab cakes are still all crab and gluten free (thanks!). The parking is still atrocious - deal with it and park across the street. The crowd on any weekend in the summer is still huge and the wait is still long. Just come when you're not in a hurry and kick back. You're bound to run into your lake neighbors or old friends to chat with. Bring a snack for small children so they're not miserable and everyone will be a whole lot happier. read more
