My family and I stayed at The Craftsmen (in the Blacksmiths room). We will not go back.
We paid almost $2,000 for three nights, including the taxes paid when we left. I know it was a busy time of the year and prices are higher and that the room has two bedrooms -- a king for us and twins for the kids -- but that is a lot of money in any situation.
Here are my complaints:
THE PUBLICITY PHOTOS ARE EXTREMELY DECEPTIVE: When we arrived in our room, we were shocked how small it was because the photos on the hotel's websites gave us the feeling it would be much bigger. The photographer is a masterful manipulator of wide-angle lenses! I know that such images are taken to give a good impression, but I think in this case the camera trickery went too far. We were expecting something spacious and instead found ourselves in something very, er, cozy.
NO CLOSETS/CUPBOARDS/DRAWERS IN THE ROOM: After we checked in, we went to our room to unpack our bags and get settled. There then followed a few minutes of searching for closets or other storage -- but there was none except for a chest with some hangers in it! This box was both impractical and too small (and if used by those in the bedroom upstairs, would mean trips up and down the narrow spiral staircase connecting the rooms). This meant we were living out of our suitcases, which was both untidy and inconvenient and added to the cramped feeling already engendered by the small rooms.
There were some good things -- the staff members were delightful, the breakfasts were very tasty, the bedding was good and the location was excellent -- which helped to get over our initial letdown, but overall this was not a good experience, especially for the price charged.
I wish we had stayed somewhere else. I do not recommend this hotel. read more
