I have been given a double room. Considering the Hotel ranking 4-star, first of all I am very disappointed regarding the cleaning condition overall but in particular of the bathroom. Its general conditions were in need of modernization. Regarding the cleaning we found toilette paper in the water bowl, the bowl itself had yellow stripes of limestone and flushing water was leaking running in it. The bath was with old taps without mixer tap and water was so hot I could not have a shower. The shower had also old taps. The room had a nice view over the lake, but furniture and mattress need some care and attention. We had a good dinner in the Hotel restaurant with very welcoming staff. read more

Welcoming staff and a nice meal. Had a fairly recently refreshed room which was nice and neat. Didn't have the best nights' sleep though as found the pillows and bedding a bit tired and lumpy. Ambiance in the dining room and the halls a bit cold and impersonal - none of that Lake Como old world charm. read more

Lovely hotel and location. Not quite 5 stars as attention to detail lacking in some areas - stained ceiling tile outside bedroom, end of curtain hanging off the track but overall a lovely relaxed ambience. Would be nice to have the pool bar open more than just the weekend to serve drinks and snacks. It may encourage more people to stay onsite rather than drive into Stresa for pizza etc. Friendly staff made for a very enjoyable holiday. read more

Room was lovely (the cleaning lady needs to use a bit more elbow power washing the bath tub) fantastic view; comfy bed Mr. Carlo on the reception was very helpful he deserves 5 ***** stars he is an excellent welcome card for the hotel. Breakfast was very good. Bar below par, " no aperativo food" only nuts and crisps, we spent euro 50.00 in 2. Better to go to Hotel Milano just down the road they have a wonderful aperativo with food salami cheese bruschetta arancini. Park is beautiful. read more

This was a very pleasant stay. The hotel has the some very charming qualities and a few things that could easily be improved. I will let those who wish delve into the latter while I tell you what is facinating. 1. It right on lake side with breathtaking views 2. Reception were, in every respect the most helpful and friendly staff. 3. The dinner was very good and breakfast varied. 4. The exquisite botanical garden at the rear of the hotel is not to be missed. 5. Belgirate is a tiny charming village and was visited by many famous writers, philosophers and the likes in bygone days. 6. It is right around the corner from numerous trekking paths with stunning views. 7. 5 mins by car or less to Stresa and the evocative Borromee islands and Mottorone cable car. read more

Hotel is called lux, but lux was in the 60s. We have spent 5 nights at Villa Carlotta and there was a disabled person with us. The 2 rooms that correspond to each other were actually not to be seen as old, worn and yellowed everything (except TV). But it was clean and the rooms were well equipped. We have not had a view, but were kept informed about this when booking. I think the other rooms were nicer than ours and most also have a balcony with a view. But if you are disabled then you usually get the worst room. Despite the fact that everything is so old and broken, for example rotten doorpost in the bathroom, our disabled son, who really needs care, slept and showered comfortably and we still experienced our stay as pleasant. This is largely due to very friendly staff, convenient location and beautiful surroundings. read more

Not clean, A/C not great, shower doesn't have a curtain and doesn't have a shower head only a handheld (small) wand that gets the whole bathroom wet. Room smelled of mildew due to the carpet getting wet from the shower. The elevator was slow so took the stairs and there were dead bugs on the way. There is a pool here but the sides haven't been cleaned in years it seems. It's also a long walk from the room being it's up in the woods. Worst hotel on this northern Italy trip. Someone in the group plugged in his IPad and blew the power for the entire 1st floor. The location is nice being across the street from the lake but the mosquitos are bad at night. I had adapters that worked all over Italy, but here you get to get an adapter for your adapter. Only had two outlets that worked with these, but had to either unplug the fridge or the A/C to charge a phone. Can not plug anything in, in the bathroom. The room has an actual key, however to lock the door you must put a key in on the inside to lock the door. Another in my group got locked in and the staff had to fight the door to get him out. Glad there was not a fire during my stay. I would not stay here again. read more

This was my 4th stay at the hotel since 2010 and it's still a nice play to stay. The location is very good, it's close to Stresa which is full of life yet Belgirate is a nice small town to get away from it all. The staff were all very pleasant and welcoming. We had 3 rooms for our party of 6 - but only 1 room had aircon and the other 2 rooms were too hot for comfortable sleeping with an outside temperature of 30 degrees plus. I would stay here again but the breakfast experience was disappointing. The food was great but it was far too hot to enjoy the food and you need some aircon or at least some large ceiling fans for the summer months. The worst part was that dogs were allowed into the restaurant area and one dog was seen by many of us helping itself to items from the table (standing with it's front paws on the edge of the table) while both it's owners were at the buffet getting more food. At least 10 of us saw it and I complained to the staff. This is not what you want to see at a hotel breakfast - and I am a dog lover. But I would use the hotel again. read more

Excellent hotel, very helpful staff. Great location in pleasant quieter part of the lake, near boat stop and restaurants.
