A window on the Mediterranean Sea, a rear view of the volcano Etna, Sonia is an old Villa, below the rock of Castelmola, that has been converted into a very elegant hotel. The architecture of the hotel has blended it neatly into the nature of this mountainous region. There are large rooms, good public areas, excellent terraces overlooking a garden and swimming pool. There is a good restaurant (The Parco Reale) with indoor and terrace dining.
A short walk - up several flights of steps or via a winding road - will take you to the hamlet of Castelmola, where you can unwind in local bars and restaurants or shop for local products in the small pedestrianised streets.
As the sun goes down, back at the hotel, sit out on the rear terrace and enjoy a drink as you watch Etna disappear under a cloak of darkness.
Castelmola is above all a place to relax, stay put, and recharge the batteries. The Villa Sonia will help you do just that. Be warned however, this is not a place for those who dislike heights! read more
