We both wanted a drink after the long drive and there was a well-stocked mini-bar fridge on the lower level. You take what you want, and enter your room number on a voucher. Honor system! We enjoyed our drinks on a comfortable balcony under a star-lit night. The room was equipped with a large closet and small dresser, two twin beds pushed together, two bedside tables, a small table with two chairs, a small lounge chair, and TV with remote. The balcony had a small table and two chairs. Great view from the window in the room and the balcony. Overall, the room and bathroom were small. It was tight with 2 people, but cozy. Breakfast was included with excellent coffee and a wide variety of cheeses, meats, breads, fruit, yougurt, eggs, juice, granola, and cereal. Well presented in their quaint and lovely dining room. Will definitely book this hotel again, when in this area.

The reviews on cleanliness and rude staff had me on edge, but my experience was the opposite. Our room was exceptionally clean, and I adored the quirky decor. The staff knew our names when we walked in (off-season and pushing 10pm) and went right into playful banter. The beer from the vending machine was cold & the glasses were clean. We arrived too late to enjoy some of the other amenities. Breakfast was good, and the servers were friendly. I've already bookmarked this one for a repeat visit.

The staff are extremely helpful and prompt and if you need any help they are always wiling to help. Like many hotels in Germany don't expect air conditioning as this is not common. Our room was clean and spacious but with somewhat dim lighting (both direct and indirect). Bathroom was adequate with a stand up shower. Queen-sized bed was comfortable enough and provided some good sleep quality for us. Quiet hours are from 2200 to 0800, and it was very quiet for the most part except some folks came in after mid-night one night/morning speaking loudly (our room was right next to the elevator). Perhaps the most inconvenient issue was not having breakfast provided on premise. This was the first Army Lodging location I stayed where no breakfast was provided, and I stayed at many such facilities in the past. Fortunately there was a very decent dining facility nearby within about three-minute walk that made it very convenient. So, it was a satisfactory experience overall here at Garmisch Army Lodging. Would I recommend it? Well, if you don't have any other choice, you can make it as comfortable as you want.

In the older building, our room was always hot. My parents were in the honeymoon suite. There AC was set to shut off at night no matter what the guest wanted. My parents woke up sweating and couldn't figure out why the AC wouldn't turn on! 2- My room wasn't cleaned until 4pm when I called the front desk for a second time. 3- The elevator broke and we had to walk regularly up and down four flights of stairs, six if we went to the car. It specifically caters to bicyclist but as a person simply passing through, I thoroughly was impressed with the accommodations along with the price point. It is family friendly, clean and well run for a family owned hotel. I picked this location because it had good reviews and was close to the iconic Neuschwanstein Castle in Germany. I only stayed here one night but I wish I stayed here longer. It really gives off a relaxing feel and they offer daily outdoor activities. If I ever for some reason find myself in this area, I will be sure to stay here longer.
