A really lovely property in a posh, well-located Madrid neighborhood, but with some service hiccups that knocked it down from a true 5-star experience for me.
I stayed here for four nights in mid-April 2026 for the tail end of a two-week trip across Spain. I booked through my travel agent a few months in advance, and it was certainly one of the priciest hotels of the trip (Madrid hotels in general ran higher than the other cities I visited), but I wanted to splurge a bit for the final leg. Breakfast buffet was included with my stay, which ended up being a real perk.
My check-in was a little rough, if I'm being honest. I'd requested early check-in in advance, arrived around 1 pm on a Monday tired and getting over a cold, and was greeted by an intern who first told me I couldn't check in early (which, fair enough) and then kept insisting I hadn't paid for the room -- despite a confirmation from the hotel itself that looked exactly like a paid receipt (it wasn't; very confusing). Eventually a more senior staff member helped sort it out and got me checked in early, which was lovely. Then came four (!!!) iterations of wooden room keys that did not work before one actually opened my room.
Once I got settled in, the stay itself was really nice. The room was incredibly clean, spacious, with a great bathroom, lovely spa products, and a much better hairdryer than I usually encounter in hotels. Decor was a little dated for my personal taste but very comfortable. Housekeeping came twice a day with turndown service (a favorite of mine). The breakfast buffet is held in a beautiful atrium and offered an impressive spread: fruits, yogurts, breads, prepared foods, meats, cheeses (with gluten-free options) and a real menu of made-to-order items included in the price. I discovered I could get Chocolatería San Ginés churros made to order every morning with my breakfast and you better believe I took advantage of that every. single. day. The breakfast staff, the door staff, and housekeeping were all absolutely top-notch -- stellar service across the board.
A few persistent annoyances prevented this from being a true five-star experience for me: the WiFi was unavailable the first night (they were doing service on it) and spotty for the rest of the trip, which was frustrating, and the front desk really could use some additional training. This was probably my least favorite five-star hotel I've ever stayed in, but I genuinely still enjoyed my stay and the location, breakfast, and most of the staff made it worth it. I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again if the front desk and WiFi issues get sorted out. read more
