Updated: look at picture I was encouraged to join this HOTWORX location with a friend who was really looking forward to me joining. She was a member and I was going to join with her. Unfortunately, the experience was incredibly disappointing and honestly concerning. From the moment we walked in, the staff member Elizabeth was extremely friendly in the beginning. After my friend signed up, Elizabeth was okay until she needed to cancel due to getting pregnant. She froze and Elizabeth charged her card without any authorization or explanation, which is completely unacceptable. What made things worse was the complete lack of support or accountability. Trying to speak with a manager was nearly impossible. My friend made multiple attempts to get help and clarify the situation, but she kept getting ignored or redirected without any resolution. Despite her dues being paid, she was still denied access to the facility. Watching all of this unfold firsthand was frustrating it felt wrong and borderline unethical. Elizabeth's behavior was unprofessional and disrespectful. She spoke to my friend in a demeaning tone and made the entire experience uncomfortable. As someone who witnessed this firsthand, I can say it reflects very poorly on HOTWORX as a brand. If this is how paying members are treated, I would strongly encourage others to think twice before joining this location. There are plenty of wellness studios that actually care about their members and uphold basic professionalism this was not one of them. Either allow her to use the remaining services she paid for or issue a refund--plain and simple. Revoking her access while withholding her hard-earned money is completely unprofessional and speaks volumes about the quality and integrity of this business. It's unethical, especially considering she is pregnant. This level of disregard is unacceptable. Let's be clear, she did not have financial difficulties. That was never the issue. The real problem is the disorganization at this location and the fact that her card was charged without authorization. If her account had simply been frozen during her pregnancy like she requested, instead of being charged without permission, you likely would have retained two members and even gained more through referrals. Instead, you chose to mishandle the situation and now you're denying her access to services she paid for. That's not just unprofessional, it's discriminatory. To make matters worse, disclosing personal information like claiming she had financial difficultiesis completely unethical and a serious violation of privacy. What kind of establishment shares private member details in public responses? That alone speaks volumes about the professionalism and integrity of this business. If you were confident enough to post that response publicly, you should be willing to stand by it. Removing it only confirms that you knew it was inappropriate, unprofessional, and entirely out of line. read more

Joined a week ago and can easily see myself becoming addicted! The staff is friendly and helpful, and the facility is extremely clean and upkept. Starting my day in the sauna makes me feel recharged and has helped relieve body aches, joint stiffness, and muscle tightness. This is my hotworx location for about a year now and I have loved every minute!! It's always so clean and ready for use throughout the day. The manager, Liz, is always so welcoming and creates a positive environment for the gym!! As well as the manager, the staff is always so friendly and accommodating to anyones needs. I don't know if anyone else has noticed but all the new reviews are all uniformed and the same , I would not listen to any that mention new management or the words "GM", it's clearly a scam and it sounds like some new management trying to coax people into this scam. The sign on fee here is $200 n then from there it's 50$ a month. additionally to cancel, you have to cancel 2 months in advance which is absolutely ridiculous. I would recommend getting a golds gym membership, it's cheaper and way more worth it. Also the owner won't harass you and consistently leave business cards on your car. Leaving business cards on someone who gyms is absolutely ridiculous, learn how to market. why would i transfer to a more expensive less beneficial "workout"place when i have a membership at golds. read more

I have never written a review before. But here I am because if I would have read the reviews, I would have never signed up for Hotworx. Everything everyone says about the cancellation process is correct. I came in to cancel my membership on October 7, 2023 because I was moving out of San Antonio. I had really enjoyed the membership up until this point and was considering joining my local Hotworx location. I received my proof of cancelation in my email that stated 1. The day I submitted my cancellation. 2. Last Payment Date. (which stated November 1, 2023) 3. Termination Date: December 1, 2023. When December 1, 2023 came around and I was charged again for my membership I called to get a refund, as my signed cancellation agreement stated my last charge was on 11/1/23. First it was difficult to get ahold of anyone over the phone. When I finally got Michael (the employee) over the phone it he couldn't figure out why I had been charged and told me that I would have to dispute the charge with my bank as well as email manager.tx0129@hotworx.net to have a manager look into my charge. So I did, I called my bank in regards to the charge and sent an email to manager.tx0129@hotworx.net. only to receive a text from Michael stating "My manager reviews all cancellations and this one was incorrect and I apologize for not calling you and letting you know sooner after review of Hotworx policy here is the statement that was made by the manager team: Cancellation: if a member wants to cancel, a 60- day cancellation notice is required. An email reply to my first email was also sent with the same response from Michael. I reached out to the same email address that I was provided manager.tx0129@hotworx.net now requesting to speak with a manager because now I have further questions only to have Michael reply to that email "my manager reviews all cancellations this one was incorrect and I apologize for not calling you and letting you know sooner". Which is completely unprofessional. I need this resolved as I am no longer in San Antonio and can not just drive over to get this resolved in person. I will be posting screen shots to this page also as my proof. If I were you I'd think twice before signing up for a membership. **** I wanted to provide an update. I was finally able to speak with Angela, the manager of this location. And she was able to answer the questions I had. I still stand by my review as this has been my experience and should have never happened or taken this long to get the clarification that I needed. read more

Oh where to begin... When I first moved out of San Antonio, they told me that "transfers" were not a thing and that if I wanted to still be able to use my membership, I would have to upgrade to Sweat Everywhere. After speaking to other locations about it, that's not the case. I have been trying to cancel my membership since the beginning of 2022. I assumed everything was taken care of in May because nothing was pulling from my bank account. Three months pass and randomly, Hotworx starts charging me again. I have placed stop payments in every possible way and it seems their system just keeps changing the way it pulls from my account. Matt was the employee I was in contact with and he no longer works for the location. He didn't leave messages or notes on my account when I called. The manager is claiming that my name never came up and that she knows nothing. I could see how she wouldn't because every time I called to speak with her, she was "in a meeting with the owners" or "unavailable" and never returned calls. Now that it's a issue for her and I keep calling, she finally gets back to me. I have been telling them time and time again that I will not be going through the cancellation process again and that I will not pay $99 to cancel immediately. They keep giving me the "oh we have to talk to the owner" and "we are just following policy" excuses and I'm done with it. I gave them until the end of the day yesterday to get this resolved or I would post my review. Obviously they didn't follow through again...let's see what happens from here. I highly recommend finding a better place to spend your money. read more

I canceled my membership in december and am continuing to get charged. Hotworx claims that there is no note in my file stating I cancelled, probably because their employees change every other month and dont know what theyre doing. a friend is going through the exact same situation, when i tried calling they said i could cancel now but i would still get charged for a few more months. seems like all they care about is a buck. wish i could get this resolved but management is rude and seems like owners dont care. read more

Went in to cancel and was told I would be getting charged for two more months then told or the more expensive route when it's the SAME amount as paying. Absolutely a rip off. I cancelled my membership last September and continued to be charged. Then cancelled again in June so we will see. It has taken two visits to the location and multiple phone calls to get the manager to respond. She says she's been busy. There's hardly ever anyone in there so busy doing what? The person who cancelled before no longer works there and they say they email you but nothing ever comes through to emails. Have asked to contact the owner but am told they are on vacation until mid-July and do not want to be contacted. Poor service, poor attitude. I had heard of Hotworxs last year and finally decided to try it out because I injured my back so I haven't been able to do heavy lifting. 1. I am a nurse who works night shift, so the fact the this gym is 24/7 is AMAZING. 2. Being open 24/7 safety is important which they provide. The doors are always locked and you need your specific code to get in. If you feel unsafe on non-staffed hours they have a emergency button and emergency necklaces so that 911 is called for you. 3. I burn way more calories than I ever have lifting weights in less amount of time. At first I thought this is probably not going to keep me interested, but these workouts are not easy. Sometimes I go after I get off a night shift and it's so nice to get in and out. 4. You have to get their mat because of the type of heat so it doesn't ruin the floors. Or you can rent one with a towel for 5 dollars when you go in, but at that point you might as well buy their. 5. It's not crowded like your typical gym which is very nice. You schedule your appointment for your workout and you can have another person schedule too but so far I haven't had a random person schedule a workout with me. Technically it can hold up to three people but they only have two people as of right now. 6. They also have a mini weight area to do trx bands or free weights if you want. 7. The staff is very nice and encouraging when I happened to go during staffed hours Overall I love it because right now I cannot run or do my normal workouts I used to and I feel like I am getting stronger and losing weight. You can try a free workout to see what it is about. Also I recommend signing up in the beginning of the month they usually have good promotions. The reason I gave 4 stars is because some people that go in late they don't book an appointment and just go in whichever room is "open" not thinking that someone is scheduled to use it. There was one time that I had two people in the room I was scheduled to use. It was annoying but I just went into another room.
