Service was a bit slow, but the staff are friendly, prices are reasonable, and the patio is dog friendly. Parking can be a hit and a miss being downtown, but there were a handful of parking spots available not too far from the cafe entrance late morning. What a marvelous downtown area! Equipped with a fabulous coffee shop. Great spot to work. They have lots of small gifts as well. The food looked delicious. I tried the special Mint Mocha. I didn't taste much mint, but the coffee over all was fantastic. We popped in quickly to have a quick rest while we were waiting for a table at the Pizza Spot across the street. Friendly Staff. This is a nice little place in downtown Dickson (which, side note, as a whole is a really neat downtown area). What struck me about House Blend is that the prices are VERY fair especially when compared to comparable coffee shops in downtown areas. I can't vouch for the specialty coffee drinks as I stuck with a dark roast drip, straight up, but it was hot, bold, and fresh (and cheap) so I had no complaints. What really stood out was the food--a lot of great sandwich options, salads, and the soup of the day when I was there (a chickpea soup) was outstanding. All in all I had a nice cup of coffee, a great (veggie and cheese melt) sandwich, a delicious soup and a handful of chips for less than $12. It is a rather small area so if you're going to camp out and do work on your laptop you might want to come early or after lunch. read more

Been here before and got a scone and coffee. That visit was delightful. This time; not so much. Got there at 940am on a Saturday. There may have been 5 people in the shop- that had already ordered and were eating. I ordered a breakfast biscuit. Paid. THEN was told they didn't have biscuits. If they knew that not sure why I wasn't told before I paid. Cool. I said a bagel would be fine. 4-5 other orders were placed after mine. They got their drinks and food before mine. I did place a second order for a friend. Cheese toast. I didn't get my order until 1105. Cold. Then toast right after. Will I order a hot meal from them again? No. I'm actually not in town often, but I doubt I'll be back. I typically prefer a local shop, but McDonald's it'll be next time. read more

There is nothing bad to say about House Blend. This is one of my all time favorite coffee shops that I frequent multiple times each week. The owners are a couple and I have only ever met the husband because he works there often and he is extremely kind and remembers most everyone who comes through there. The coffee is fantastic and worth bringing some home to brew later. The menu has many healthy options and is vegetarian friendly. They have a great gift shop for finding quick and unique gifts. This is a great place for an afternoon or evening cup of coffee with friends or family or for writing a paper or doing work if you want to connect to their WiFi and enjoy the scene. I came across this little place when going to meet some friends at Zander's. Parked here, noticed they open at 0600 and stopped the next morning! When I arrived at 0600, there were already 4 other people here. The locals obviously know how good this place is. I got large cup of the house blend and some toast to eat on the commute to work. The quality and freshness of the coffee is excellent, and they have a variety of lattes,cappuccinos, and espressos both hot and iced. There is a very small patio section that sits on Main Street and is a good location for people watching or just taking a break. Free wifi is provided as well as an inside dining section. My husband and I were walking around the main strip playing Pokémon Go(don't judge, you do something that makes you a nerd too) and it was a little chilly so we went in to get some coffee. I think I am single-handedly paying for the college tuition of the owner's children. I come here almost daily, sometimes twice a day. Very friendly staff, very nice atmosphere, very very good food. The scones are awesome, not dry and crummy like others. The drinks are fantastic, very creative. You gotta try the Elvis smoothie, Coffee in the Raw, and the cream sodas. I personally get the Chai tea every time because caffeine messes me up. Sandwiches are awesome! 10/10 read more

Pros: - low prices - cute items for sale that help pass the time while you wait for your order - staff were friendly - iced americano was nicely done - staff were deep-cleaning (which is often lacking in many coffee shops) Cons: - hot americano was watery and tepid -- worth throwing out completely. - at the request to put the hot americano on ice (to try and salvage it!), the barista didn't switch the coffee to a cold cup but merely put cold water into the same hot cup -- which made for an even more tepid americano and even more watered down. This is one of those places where I wondered if there's really any point in reviewing this place. Most of the time I've wondered if I should, I decided against it. Usually, I don't like the places I decide against reviewing, but I've had varying reasons why I didn't end up reviewing them. In the case of House Blend, I wondered if I should review it primarily because it really doesn't matter one way or the other. If you're in downtown Dickson, and you need some coffee, this is the only place to go. If it's the best ever or garbage, you'll still walk throw down $3.50, and walk out with a cup of caffeine. Nothing I, or anyone else, will write will change that inevitable fact that there is no where else nearby to go. That being said, I am giving this place three stars primarily because the coffee is not bad. They use bongo java out of Nashville, so there's a one-up there. The only problem is that you know exactly what you're getting with it. Whatever drink you order tastes EXACTLY what you'd expect a Bongo Java drink to taste like. I suppose this is a good thing, but I wasn't surprised in the least when I tasted my Iced Latte. House Blend doesn't try to do anything different, doesn't do anything new with their menu, and doesn't even really try to make their store anything more than the style of all the other antique stores on this road. On top of that, the guy who made my coffee was just unpleasant. He seemed bored of my questions and didn't seem to care in the least of his presentation. He seemed bored by being there, and at my attempt at conversation. The only reason isn't a one star is because the actual product is satisfactory. I hate this place, otherwise. read more

Went here for a kind of coffee date with some girl. Great environment, good food, but the coffee is certainly lacking. I got an iced caramel macchiato and it wasn't too good. Overall the coffee just tastes like milk with a very tiny amount of coffee, no flavor. The food I got was mediocre, I ordered a grilled cheese and a salad the grill cheese was good but tasted under seasoned, the salad was good but wasn't tossed and was difficult to do so myself as for the sizing of the plate. The only thing I think that house blend nails is the environment and vibe inside the shop. For better coffee head down the street to pumphery and beard who have excellent coffee and great food. read more

I grew up in the area, so don't let the location on my profile deter you. House Blend has a lovely environment. I've come to know many of the baristas here since I went to school with a couple of them, and they do a great job with drinks and food. I've never gotten a wrong order, and I don't know anybody who has. AND ladies and gentlemen, there are VEGETARIAN OPTIONS! Presentation aside (because you DO have to have some sort of dexterity to put together a beautiful looking cheese plate), this is my go-to place to catch up with people when I'm visiting home, which brings me to the local environment- -There's nothing like cozying up in a chair with a Reeses Mocha (the drink I'd recommend the most) and a book. The ambiance is great. It's not always spotless, but I commend the baristas, because it's usually super busy and they're usually at 110% keeping up with the flow. There's only so much you can do at once. The only downside, which isn't necessarily the business's fault, is the area it's in. But again, that's rural Tennessee's fault, not the business. I was wearing a rainbow shirt with "Nashville pride" written on it, and I got SEVERAL looks like I was some sort of heathenistic child. The worst part? I was literally helping a blind person, getting their bag and making sure they had everything to leave. Like, my gay ass is helping a blind person and your straight ass is judging me for it? Okay. Whatever. I would give this place five stars if the staff wasn't underpaid, if it was perhaps in a better place (though this is the best place you can get in Dickson, to be honest), and if the coffee was a little bit finer of a quality (although it is pretty good). Super cute coffee shop just off Main Street. We went about 11am on a Saturday and they weren't super busy so we didn't wait long. I had a latte and the Green Grill sandwich. The sandwich was awesome, great flavors, fresh ingredients and hot. My Latte was good but the cup was only 1/2 to 3/4 full. My hubs had the Bagel Bomb and a Lemonade. He liked the bagel but it was super super messy. The lemonade was really sweet! Lastly the place was really in need of tidying up. Tables needed wiping, chairs pushed in, and trashed cleared off of the tables. I'm guessing they were really busy earlier and just hadn't gotten to it but between that and my Latte I can only give 4 stars. It's definitely a good option if your passing through town. Me and the kids all love House Blend! Every time we go downtown the kids want to stop in for a smoothie and I get to get my coffee fix! I like everything I've tried there but a Mint Mocha Ice-spresso over ice is one of my faves when I want a sweet coffee treat! I've gotten a pound of coffee beans from there to make my own brew at home, too, which I love! The friendly staff and the atmosphere keeps me coming back!
