They have a buffet everyday. I was there Sunday night when it is the highest cost of the week $15.95. They had wonton soup, spring rolls and egg rolls, a variety of Chinese and other dishes including Thai Chicken and Sweet and Sour Chicken. Plus several rice and noodle mixtures. I'm a huge lover of Chinese food. Being a vegan, it's also often the easiest place for me to eat. After driving several hours to Bathurst from Shippagan, I looked around for somewhere to eat. I walked in to House of Lee, and looked at the buffet. Nothing was vegan, but I saw a lot of vegetables. I asked the waitress if I could order something vegetarian, and she said sure. I sat down and got a menu. A different waitress told me that no, I could not order a dish without meat. I said, "You have beef and broccoli. Can I not have just broccoli?" She said no, it doesn't work that way. I said, how about just fried rice with veggies. She said the fried rice has green onions and cabbage. I said the menu has dishes with other veggies-- broccoli, water chestnuts, carrots, peas, etc. Couldn't they add those in? I said I would pay. She said no, but that she would ask the chef. She returned and told me they would not do it. I was baffled. It literally was using things they had and just putting in the rice. She said it doesn't work that way in Chinese food. I said I lived in China, and it absolutely does work that way. She said, "Dearie, that was China. You are in New Brunswick now." I ended up with an extremely plain "veggie" friend rice and french fries. The french fries tasted like beef and were inedible. The rice was fine, but super plain and really expensive. Plus it had mushrooms, despite me asking for it not to, since I have an allergy. Don't go here if you are vegetarian or vegan. read more

Every 1-2 years I take a visit to New Brunswick to visit family and friends living just outside of Bathurst. House of Lee has been a regular stop on every trip for as long as I can remember. I may be partial since I am a huge fan of classic, American-ized Chinese food. Those dimly lit restaurants with dragons on the glasses and the animal horosocopes on the placemats. House of Lee is American-ish with a Canadian twist. On my first visit I was surprised to find onion rings in the buffet and chicken balls replacing my beloved chicken fingers. What??!! Despite the differences, House of Lee quickly became a favorite. Although there are no dragons on the glassware, my placemat did confirm I am a tiger. The decor is dated and simple. It delivers the feel of a Chinese restaurant, yet in a less tacky manner without brightly colored floral wallpaper or red vinyl booths. The restaurant is dimly lit, which I like, but has large windows overlooking the distant bay. Feel free to seat yourself and head to the buffet which seems to be available no matter what days/times we arrive. The servers are usually friendly, greet you promptly, and grab your drink order. Once you head to the buffet, they leave behind the bill, but circle around the dining room in case they are needed. The buffet is quite extensive with the usual favorites fried rice, chicken wings, chop suey, and more. As I mentioned above, you find a few surprises such as the onion rings and chicken balls. I can remember on a prior visit the buffet offered fried fish fillets, but these were not available on my recent trip. I am a big fan of the bone in spare ribs which are not red in color as normally found in Chinese fare, but are certainly slow cooked to perfection. Soups and salad items are available on the buffet in addition to a huge assortment of amazing looking sweets. Unfortunately I did not save room for dessert on my recent visit as I piled my plate rather high and made a return trip to the buffet for those ribs. My visits to House of Lee are far and few between so I must enjoy it while I can. Fast and friendly classic Chinese at a reasonable price. See you next summer House of Lee! read more

We were in Bathurst for the last Thanksgiving in 2022. We visited the Bathurst area many times and always tried House of lee buffet. This time the food is no longer good as it once was. The won tons in the soup were soggy and tasteless. Chicken vegetables had no chicken and had to much cabbage. We asked where is the chicken and they said people pick the chicken out. They brought a new serving and there was very little chicken. Not enough for two people. The chicken balls were dry and hard. It seems they fill the buffet with cabbage as fillers for most of the dishes on the buffet. One last thing was they use to serve musscles but no longer... I hope they improve their quality of food so I can come back and enjoy a good Chinese meal. Until then I do not recommend the buffet. read more

My husband and I went to celebrate our anniversary early, thought it might have changed in the last two years, nope. Lighting was terrible, can't see hardly, food saturated in grease, not a lot of choices. The dessert wasn't much, the ice cream was the best thing there. My husband went to the bathroom and it was a disaster because it was flooding everywhere, use the bathroom before you go.Service wasn't super, but it wasn't bad either, not good enough for a tip. I guess I got spoiled by the Chinese restaurants in Ontario, haha. I don't recommend this place, go somewhere else. read more

If you know typically bad Chinese food from small towns in Canada, you'll know House of Lee. Overly sweet, salty or greasy is what they'll be serving. The buffet is pretty basic with chicken chop suey, fried chicken balls, pepper chicken, chicken wings, sweet and sour chicken and some pork dish. I also tried their wonton soup. I was scared of their beef macaroni dish. Buffet was $13 before tax and tip. Try Mai's for a much better Asian alternative in Bathurst. read more

This charming restaurant offers buffet style cuisine most days of the week. Always crowded so you know it is popular. The food quality is medium/high and there is always a lot to choose from. The desert section is the only thing that is lacking and if they were to install an ice cream station they would have the best place in town. read more

Dirty inside, the food was flavourable but I did get food poisoning from the food the next day! Terrible service had to wait an hour to receive the food too. This place is dirty and needs to be checked out by the department of health and safety. read more

Had dinner here tonight. The. House of Lee in Bathurst served my son spoiled milk, told me that it is my responsibility to check the milk before my child drinks it. After drinking the whole glass Jake tells me that the milk tastes funny. SO. The owner tells me that we don't have to pay for Jacobs dinner or his milk. This place has been around for years and it boggles my mind as to how it's remained opened. I recently dined here and the food is sub-par to say the least. The food tastes like it's been all fried in the same oil, the sauces were disgustingly sweet & sloppy, and I wasn't aware elbow macaroni with beef & honey garlic sauce was considered "Chinese".
