Finding decent restaurants in Bathurst is pretty tough. I've been to the hotel restaurants and thought they were good but a little more expensive. So I've been trying local mom and pop places and came across Papa Joe and Evy's. I came in fairly late about 20-30 minutes prior to closing. Once they seated me, the server got my iced tea quickly. They only have sweetened, packaged tea (was not good at all). But they kindly switched me to a soda. The menu was a bit limited and most things were fried. I had to choose a salad, which was a pretty basic garden salad and had some chicken on it. I was through it pretty quickly and was still quite hungry. The meal set me back about $18.50 after tax and tip. What was worse than the overpriced meal was that I was still so hungry than I immediately drove over to Dixie Lee to have another overpriced but more satisfying meal. read more
