This used to be a great shop. Mabel was so helpful and cheerful and fun. I had the exact opposite impression of the three women who were standing around today...unfriendly and unhelpful. I saw online that the business is up for sale, so that may explain the lack of warmth. While the sign on the door said open M-Sat, the shop was not open Thursday, Friday or Saturday. I left messages on the answering machine asking to please let me know when they opened again. I happened to drive by at 3 this afternoon (Monday) and saw the lights were on. Mabel is no longer there. They no longer have anyone who can finish needlepoint belts. They cannot give advice about how many more inches to stitch, in case it would be wrong for whatever finisher I might locate. They do not sell embroidery floss. They do listen to their voicemails, but not until the end of the day, so didn't receive the several I had left. They do still have a beautiful array of fibers, but overall the trip was a waste of time. read more

I cannot say enough great things about House of Needlepoint. They made me feel welcome from day one of starting up this new hobby AND I greatly appreciate the COVID precautions they are taking. *The only reason my rating is 4 stars is because I haven't actually done needlepoint here. I walked into House of Needlepoint this afternoon with an odd request about where to find embroidery and stamped cross-stitch kits. While I did not purchase anything, I was amazed at the attention, assistance, and information the owners and their sewing circle provided. I walked out of the store with three websites I could visit to find what I was looking for, and the actual names of the things I needed to complete the project. HON (House of Needlepoint) is my favorite LNS (local needlepoint store). Heading into HON is like walking into Cheers. Mabel and crew are always welcoming and so helpful. There's always a table in front with gals stitching, laughing and chatting and you are welcome to sit and stitch whether you know them or they are all strangers. I have shopped here multiple times and each time the customer service has been terrible. They are rude and judgmental if you have questions or are asking for advice. I won't be shopping here again. Highly recommend checking out the other LNS in the area. They have much better customer service and develop relationships with the customers. read more

I had a worker in there tell me that she would help me "if she wasn't busy" and there was only one other person in the store. Then I asked her how much something was and she told me it was too expensive for me. Excuse me? I was about to spend a lot of money there, but I thought the staff person (super tall with shoulder length blonde hair) was so rude. She also kept giving my son dirty looks and he wasn't misbehaving at all. He was standing there quietly like a statue. So that I really didn't appreciate- you might as well have just put up a sign that says "no children or pets allowed" read more

It is an awesome store with a fabulous selection of canvases and fibers. It can get busy, but if you are patient, it is well worth the trip. They offer classes to learn new stitches and will always help you plan a project. Their prices are reasonable and their finishing costs are significantly better than their competition in Old Greenwich. If you are a real stitcher, it is a must go! read more

I am an interloper when I walk into this store.There is always a group of stitchers at a table near the window that has the attention of the owners/employees. I am disrupting their "party" if I ask for help I am an interruption. The selection of canvases is good but the fibers with which to stitch them is doesn't compare with their local competitors. read more

I commute to the House of Needlepoint for my stitching needs: canvases, threads, and expert guidance. I have visited other stitch shops across the country but none compares to the "homey" feel of this shop! Add expertise, experience, breadth of selection and "how to" advice, I've never experienced any better. I've been to many of the local stitch/needlepoint shops in Fairfield County and I love this shop for their variety, service and support. I will end up driving past a few competitors to the House of Needlepoint, but will travel the extra distance because I know I will deal with experts who truly love their work. read more
