I'm so disappointed. We called Houser to see what they could do to help us with our driveway. It was in great condition but because of being "topped" it was causing water to pool back on the concrete skirt of our garage. Of course that will freeze in the cold temperatures causing ice and a fall hazard. Not ideal for anyone, but because I've a physical disability which effects ability to walk , we needed it corrected. Their salesman came out remarked on the condition of our drive being good and suggested a fresh seal coat. We explained and showed him the watermarks and the problems that caused in the winter. He suggested that a tear out would lower the drive enough to correct the problem. And he gave us a quote to replace it with concrete. We opted the tear out with replacement being asphalt. They called the following spring and wanted to come that day in just a few hrs to do the tear out. That wasn't possible since we were out of town. To which we were told they weren't sure when they could get us again. Well it simply wasn't possible for us ar that time. A couple months later we received a call to come the next day. Of course we said yes and prepared for the next day. They were so quick. They were in and out in with amazing quickness. Great job. The next day a work crew came to lay down the new drive. I spoke to and reminded them of the water issue. Looked good as the one they tore out. I was so pleased. However, then came the rain....still running back to the concrete. So I contacted Debbie at Houser and their agent came out to inspect and took pictures of the water mark left by the last rain. I explained to him about a perfectly good driveway being removed and reset because of the water being directed to the concrete and that with my disability that could cause a fall as well as it damaging the concrete. He told me that since it was Thursday it would be the first part of the following week before he could get the pictures downloaded and his report completed and turned in. I'm a fairly patient person and when 2 weeks later I'd heard nothing from Houser I called again assuming it had been lost in the shuffle some how. I again spoke with Debbie, i explained where we were in the process and that my expectation was that I'd just get a date when the repair would be made. She made certain I would remember her name and that she would get with Mike and see where we were on the process. Several weeks passed and no information. I called and got voicemail and gave name address and reason for my call. No return call however I received a nasty gram demanding payment immediately or a lein would be placed on my house at noon. Eternal optimist that I am I'm thinking their has been a breakdown in communication some where. Surely such a large company would want to make their work right. So evidently not. A further demand for payment and a bit of belittling my need for safety being the driving factor in our choice to replace an otherwise perfect driveway. A fall can be the catalyst ending in a wheel chair rather than being able to walk. Would I recommend them? I think not. I'm still in a bit of shock. This company came in with one of the better bids and because my company had used them for projects, we hired them. My husband had multiple conversations with them about what we wanted for the area we wanted poured in concrete. Photos, measurements, several conversations. And yet, now we have concrete poured that is not straight and it's very noticeable. Also, my husband asked for a certain grade on the concrete because we have a very specific purpose for it, and that was also ignored. So, we spend our hard-earned money for a project that isn't done correctly and yet, it won't be re-done, because, well, it's concrete. Also, the way the contractor, Rick, treated his co-worker Tommy, was despicable. He swore at him, yelled at him and ordered him around without a shred of respect; which doesn't reflect well on the person or the company. Not a professional company and not one I would recommend or ever hire again. I will also be sharing this experience with my company just in case they are considering hiring them for any projects. read more

On June 14th a job was started by houser at 1001 st. Adalbert Ave. Dayton Ohio. The contract states they put down 2 inches of asphalt and measurements were taken that clearly show 2 inches of asphalt were not put down. There was also a verbal statement that they took 60 tons of material off of the parking lot. We have video evidence that nowhere near that amount was removed. We have video evidence of the poor workmanship performed. The parking lot has multiple spots where water can form and multiple spots where it is not level. There was damage done to the parking drain cover which is on video and they have pictures. The seam is not level. Certain spots on the parking lot appear to be a quick patch job. On the hill it is appears to be cracking. Instead of staying on the fence line the asphalt goes onto a neighboring property and is crooked. There is gravel showing through the asphalt where it was not rolled properly. Again the entire job performed is on video. Since then they have tried to reroll the asphalt and used another machine that melted the siding on the building. read more

Concrete work awful! Areas chipping off within 2 days, cracks, crooked seams, random patterns on the brush marks, concrete slopped on the building. Very deceiving estimate by getting multiple quotes for partial work for one job and then combining the quotes for an additional $5K surprise on the final bill! HORRIBLE customer service! The receptionist that answers the phone is extremely rude. Can't get the owner to return multiple calls about the poor quality of the work and confusing estimate. They did do a good job of stripping the asphalt. read more

Use another company. Awful communication. The crew that performed the job left a HUGE MESS that I spent hours cleaning up after and when I expressed my displeasure I was ignored. They made sure to contact me to get their payment on time but every time I tried to talk about how I was unhappy - nobody had anything to say. Even the owner himself. Very difficult to work with. Poor communication and got bounced around between a lot of people when getting an estimate. Owner is a very sour individual - they were late in sending me the invoice, then when I tried to pay within a week of getting it, he accused me of being a deadbeat and that I was lucky he didn't start charging me 18% interest! Gave him my credit card information, but then said he would charge an outrageous 4.5% fee that he didn't disclose earlier (which is required by law, and is also higher than the lawful amount). When I disagreed with the fee, he threatened to place a lien on my house within 2 days if I didn't pay in full with cash. No apologies after receiving payment, just more threats of legal action. Needs to take a class on how to properly treat customers. AVOID!! read more

Asked them to do an estimate, made an appointment, they never showed! Rescheduled, didn't show a second time! A month later I received the quote I'd asked for in the mail. Wouldn't do business with a company that stands its customers up and doesn't communicate. read more

This is my rating for Houser "0" stars. I have never work with a Company that treats its Customers so bad. Their workmanship is very poor and their communication within their own Company and to their Customers is even worse. I will never use or refer them to anyone. Avoid! Poor communication is bad for business. I requested a quote back in April and they were quick to NOT come out, but take my measurements to quote a job. I am guess they would have raised the price once they finished the work so I was stuck. I was told once I signed the bid that someone would call me to schedule the work, and here I am weeks later and no one has said a word. I understand with all the rain that things would be pushed back, but a simple email or call like was originally stated would happened would be good to know where I stand in their schedule. I emailed to cancel the bid since I found someone else to do the work that will actually communicate. The response from the owner is that since it was a multiple day job and all the rain they didn't feel any need to let us know anything since it was stated that depending on weather it would be 3-4 weeks. I was still waiting on the promised first phone call, but as I read the rest of the reviews I see it is common for this company to not communicate with the customer. This is not a company that is willing to make the customer happy to gain business, and I will be sure to spread that word around the Dayton and WPAFB area. In their last email response when I cancelled the bid they said as of April 30 (A month ago) the person who called was told 3-4 week depending on rain but bid was signed and submitted on April 22 so we are a week or more (6 weeks total) over the 3-4 weeks. I would avoid this company at all cost there are better businesses that should earn your business. read more

Houser crews did a great job on our residential driveway replacement. Hard working nice crews and a very fair price. Highly recommended.
