Eventually, there was good weather window and he did not follow through after confirming to come around to do the job and clean up the demolition materials he had left on my driveway for 2+ weeks. I got fed up and asked for my money back. I warned that I will report him to my bank as scam in an attempt to get my money, he said I can go ahead that he cannot return my money. He is refusing to give me back 2K of the $2,825 he has already collected from me, saying that, "my plan was to make a couple of payments to reach 1.3K." When I informed him I would take legal action against him and go to the police. He said he will not pay me anymore that and I quote him, "the money I was gonna send you will be spent on lawyers instead.". Afterwards, I allowed him to make payment of what he thinks is due to me so I can suspend the legal action I initiated, but he refused. So, essentially he wants to defraud me of $2.8K (63% of project cost) for incomplete removal of ceiling insulation of ca. 280 sq.ft garage and some drywalls including 85 sq. ft of my drywall that I never asked him to remove, then leaving part of the debris on my driveway and scampering for more than 3 weeks after failing to follow through with our agreement and being dishonest.

A metal inset was replaced in a kitchen door and was well done. I also had some lights located at some height which he changed. The lights are on a track and were installed over 20 years ago. When the transformer dies the unit needs to be replaced. Nick explained i needed an L track and 12 volt. light. I searched the internet and found a close enough match which i ordered. I have asked several handymen in the past about replacing these old lights and none had a specific reply. He was an excellent choice for my purposes.

All started positively, he was very responsive at first and seemed enthusiastic about the project. He came to visit the place a number of times to take a look and brought with him some workers he would be subcontracting. Communication was a dicy, but frequent. He assured us that his workers are the most professional you can find in all of Montreal and that the work would be done to "perfection". It turns out he and his workers were in it for some quick cash, and their priority was to come in, do their job as quickly and carelessly as possible, get out and get paid. When we expressed our discontent with the poor work and some mistakes made (even though we had given clear direction of what we wanted) he gaslight us saying that we had never told him what we wanted, insulted us calling us too "picky" and even went so far as kicking my father out of our own home. We are now having to pay thousands of extra dollars to get another contractor to come in and fix his many mistakes. Jacob might be fine for one-off small jobs, but not to be trusted for larger projects that require vision, precision and detail work.
