I asked them to provide an estimate for creating an entrance into my garage from my house. Also to replace my kitchen floor without removing all the cabinets. Alex said both were impossible jobs without major expense. Six months later I have had both jobs done for a reasonable price, great quality of work. I contacted Renovco for mold remediation work related to an insurance claim. Sandro came to assess the project and we decided to hire Renovco to do the entire project. Unfortunately, as the project progressed, significant problems began to arise due to poor workmanship and lack of competent workers. Without letting me know that they were going to gut the kitchen, Dimitri the worker, just dumped everything in opened boxes . they was dust in every box and all my dishes etc had to be washed. When I brought this to Sandro's attention, his answer was we will wash everything, which was never done by them. The ceilings in both the living room and Bedroom were not installed properly and had to be done 3 times. When they were redoing the ceilings, They took the furniture and just dumped it on the leather couches without covering them There was dust everywhere . As they were redoing the entire kitchen, the floor was installed first followed by the cupboards, counter sinks etc. Unfortunately due to lack of competent workmen, the sink pipes were not properly installed and leaked on the tiles which caused them to lift up And the floor had to be redone again. The backslash was installed and again poor installation. They were suppose to paint the living , dining room and bedroom . They just painted the ceilings and part of the walls, I had to fight with Sandro to get him to paint the doors or window sills/radiator covers. As far as painting in the kitchen again, I had to fight to have the doors painted His response was always, it's an insurance claim. I was told in writing that the project would be completed by June 15th at the latest. ( I gave the place I was staying notice that I was leaving on the 13 due to Grand Prix and I went to stay with a friend for 10 days as I had no working kitchen. The kitchen was finally completed in September . When I brought all this to Sandro's attention, his answer was, " in my 20 years working in the business, sometimes there are projects that do not work out the way it was planned and your project was one of them". I could not believe his response.i am extremely disappointed with the handling of the project as well as the quality of the workman ship! I tried on numerous occasions to contact Walter Assi the owner but he never responded.I think they took on more projects then Renovco had workers f.... We received an estimate of 95k$ including tax to renovate a 90sf bathroom (see attached documents) where we were providing most of the material and the design. When we asked Sandro, to highlight the price of each element so that we can prioritize, his answer was: this is not the way we work. When we asked Sandro why we could not see in the estimates the heating floor we requested, his answer was: we can add it for the same price... my first reaction would be to stay far away from this company... read more

Paid $6400 deposit to do our washroom months ago w Alex - they quickly cashed their cheque but trying to get a hold of them since has been a disaster. They haven't been by to ensure we purchased the correct materials or returned our phone call to start the construction project- which is supposed to start next week. UPDATE: Henry is now our new project manager. Fingers crossed it goes smoother with him. I've bumped up my score to two stars... So to follow-up Henry didn't show up and we waited all day. Finally just ended up cancelling our job and asking for $6400 refund which they gave back the same day. So frustrated. Now after 1 month we are back to square one and looking for a contractor. They are not professionals as their ads suggest. They basically hire anyone off the street. Workers did not have proper tools for job required and wasted many hours yet I, the client, was blamed by project manager for job running late yet. Project manager that works as my "partner" according to their ads, never visited the job site. Literally harassed me day and night for payment before job was completed. Renovco wanted a payment for materials by simply providing an amount written on a torn piece of paper. No invoice. Thoroughly un-professional and have zero care about clients-only want payment. Their workers are put in a difficult position as they are required to perform duties outside their area of expertise. Materials not delivered on time and job ran 7 days late - yet client was blamed. If not for all the stress, it would be laughable. read more

They quoted me a mold removal job of $6500, but Mold Busters quoted me $1700 for the same job, in a fraction of the time, with tests after to prove it was clean. Also, when I asked to get the "free quote" from them in writing, they said it would cost $750 for the written estimate. If you hire these people, you are just too lazy to actually do a bit of research and shop around, or just don't value your money. read more

Terrible company. Just keep trying to get you to do expensive repairs that are not even necessary. Their people work on commission so they keep pushing repairs that are double the price of any other company. Their quality of work is unbelievably bad. It would be a huge mistake to use them. Took time off of work to meet with Alex to go over the work I was looking to have done on the home. We needed to completely gut the basement and redo everything as well as create a bathroom. Also needed to take down multiple walls in the bedrooms to insulate them properly. 4 weeks after the meeting and after calling and leaving messages and having no one call me back I get told they can't do the work. Renovco kept (stole) my $5000 deposit! Before you give these people a deposit, first ask them if they have returned Hong's $5000 deposit yet! I had some issues with a previous, "gem", of a contractor, so by the time Renovco was called, I was ready with a complete list of ALL the jobs that I wanted done to complete my renovations. To avoid surprises, and that game so many contractors like to play, "Name that extra", as he walked through the door for the quote, I provided Alex from Renovco with his very own, take-home copy, of my completed list of all of the jobs to be done. We went down the list, looked at all the jobs, an agreeable quote was given, so we signed a contract, and I gave a deposit. Part of the agreement was that we would be working from a list, at least as detailed as the one I provided. A few days later Alex returned with an unacceptably incomplete list of the jobs to complete the contract. They wasted a month of my time as I tried everything imaginable to get these people to provide a copy of the list of jobs they would be working from to complete the renovation. The game was, every few days they would copy and paste a few more jobs from my list to their list, until they had finally recreated my list as their working list. It was ridiculous. I should have just said at the beginning of April, "Well, I guess we're working from my list if you can't provide me with a copy of your list". Renovco apparently doesn't like working from a detailed list and were doing everything to avoid having to work from one. Contract was signed on March 17 2017, work was supposed to have begun on April 18 2017. I was still trying to get Renovco to provide me with a copy of their list on April 14, so I cancelled them from beginning the job until they provided me with a copy of their list. They had finally completed their list by the end of April. They then rescheduled the job to begin three and a half months later in mid-August. By July, I had experienced such a lack of professionalism, and had read so many bad reviews about Renovco that I cancelled them doing the work. I have requested the return of my deposit ten times in the past nine months, since August 2017. It appears that they intend to keep, or steal, my $5000 deposit. If and when Renovco returns my deposit, or I am in the process of collecting the money they stole from me through a court proceeding, I will edit this review to reflect any developments with the situation. Best advice I can provide about Renovco: Avoid these people unless you have time and money to burn. With any contractor, and especially Renovco, insist on a complete list of all of the jobs to be done, and all imaginable aspects of each job (finish, materials, specs, everything..), to avoid surprises, unless your contractor arrives with wings and a halo. read more

I heard about Renovco through their radio publicity. The company was suppose to change the second floor balcony door and remove mold from the bedroom and living room lower corner walls. I was quoted a fee of $5,000 because the wall would have to be removed, reinsulated an d mold protected. However when the contractor came to deal with the mold issue, he discovered that there was no mold behind the walls but instead surface mold due to the cold air coming from the balcony door that needed replacing. He actually showed me the condition of my walls and that no mold treatment would be necessary. He showed me the material that was put between the outside and inside walls during construction that helped prevent molding (I have an older home). He replaced the gypse for two corner walls and proceeded to replace the balcony door. Since my quote included the mold removal and treatment, I asked that it be modified since the labour and product was no longer needed. The service rep became irate and said that I signed the contract therefore I was responsible to pay the full amount. They threatened me to put a lien on my house. I was persistant and the amount was slightly modified. The door was not well installed, there is cold air coming through. The service reps are nice when they meet you but once they get your money they do not live up to their reputation. I would never recommend this company!!!!! read more

I have to say that I am completely disappointed with this company. I called three weeks ago for an estimation - nobody called me back. I called back a week ago, and made an appointment for today at 11:30 - nobody showed up. I called at 12:00 and left a message on the voicemail - no call back. I called at 12:30 - got the person who I had made the appointment with - all apologetic - forgot his agenda at home, etc, etc - promised to meet me at my house within a half hour - I finally gave up an hour later and went out to do the errands that could have and should have been done earlier in the day. Just got home, and am told by my son that nobody ever came by - and I didn't even get a phone call. Needless to say, I will never use Renovco - completely unreliable!! read more

A very bad experience. They came, gave me and estimate, which I agreed. The next day they tore up my ceramic floor, opened the wall and then returned 48 hours later with an estimate mutiplied by 12. The quality of the work--mediocre at best. I could have hired a handyman and I would have had better work for a lot less. They are very aggressive, and pushy, want you sign immediately. We noticed little flies in our basement bedroom and knew something was going on behind the gyproc. The problem became so severe that we could put our hand through the gyproc. We called Renovco after hearing their ads on CJAD. John & Roger from Renovco came to the rescue and they removed the gyproc and behind the wall was sludge and mold which they had to remove and spray and disenfect. They recommended that we call our own plumber and "Borenstein Plumbers" to the rescue. The problem was a cracked pipe near the ceiling and we don't know how long water was seeping in from our kitchen sink and garburator above. Renovco left a dehumidier in the room for a couple of weeks. Alex was orginally in charge but when Henry came to take over our project, things began moving quickl. We needed the job finished for our guests arriving to use that bedroom. Thank you to a professional and clean staff under the direction of Henry, a very nice and kind man. Bad experience. Pressure / fear tactics to sign. Overcharged; 6.5 hours for 2.5 hours service. VERY expensive.

We had an ensuite bathroom and walk in closet built by renovco. They did quite a nice job and the only issues were a few lengthly delays. The problems started immediately as the shower started to leak into the room below and they couldn't find the cause. Finally after many months of phone calls and different repair guys the problem was solved but they never repaired the ceiling where the paint bubbled. Unfortunately, this was not the only issue. The toilet gasket began to leak, the handles fell off the cabinets and the valve fell off the shower tower. It has been 2 years of telephone calls and visits to renovco and these issues have never been resolved. Each time we go in they assure us they are working on it, but after 2 years..... well!!!! I give them 1 star as the original job was nicely done but since then it has been a nightmare! read more

STAY AWAY--STAY AWAY!!!!!! A one month job ended up taking over 7 months and only because I hired someone else to finish the job. They kept making errors and having to redo things and don't ever expect them to be on time. To top things off, they wanted to be paid for the full job, even though they had barely completed anything and tried to put an illegal lean on my house. They made all kinds of promises before signing that never came to light. They use a lot of subcontractors and some don't even have a license to work. I say STAY CLEAR! They're great with negotiating with the insurance company but that's about it because the actual work itself lacks in quality control. read more

The basement in our newly purchased house had never been finished (carpet had been placed directly on to the concrete floor and basement bathroom was too tiny to be practical and functional so we called Renovco for an estimate. I was skeptical because the experience we had with a different renovator for our first house was not good - too many delays starting the work and too long living in chaos waiting for them to finish it. Alex of Renovco sat down with us and explained the work to be done and the time frame for the work. The Renovco workers were extremely prompt and punctual and professional and we never felt inconvenienced. The entire job was completed in just two weeks and the quality of the work is exceptional. We got an extremely positive review from our personal friend who is a real estate agent, but of course selling our house is not even an option because we are enjoying our home and newly finished family room/basement far too much to ever want to move again! read more
