First off, I called many times to register my daughter for a try-out class because their website wouldn't let me register for one class. All I would get back is a vague text message. I drove all the way from league city because I really wanted my daughter to try salsa class. Thinking to my self well, I can just register her when we get there. I get there, and they tell me she needs a mask, but they wouldn't provide her with one .. if it's a requirement, then they should provide it . I was brave enough to sign up for salsa classes and it was so much fun! First class was a blast and Eddy is an excellent and patient instructor. I've been taking classes with Eddy and his instructors since the fall of 2017 and it's been great! I've taken Salsa, Merengue and Bachata and plan on taking Cumbia later this year. They emphasize the fundamentals of each style so that their students can become excellent social dancers. They are patient with their students and are always gladly willing to demonstrate a step or move when requested. After learning the basic steps, they teach different combinations of moves each month. The fourth class of each month is an evaluation to ensure that you've properly executed the moves. Don't Let This Scare You! It's great preparation for social dancing. It's a bit anxiety provoking, but if you can perform well while being somewhat anxious in the class, you'll more likely be able to remember the moves when you're a bit anxious going social dancing. This psychological concept is called State Dependent Learning-you're more likely to remember something in the same state in which you've learned it. Eddy and his team, including Anthony and Evie, are dedicated teachers and really want their students to be successful. They're also fun, as they can crack jokes in the class, invite their students to various dance venues and join in the dancing with their students. I've taken private lessons too and these have been very valuable in my progression. They've also offered tips outside of class, which was most appreciated. My fellow students have been very friendly and supportive including those who are more advanced. We often go dancing together, which you should do also. Even if you're a first class beginner-Go To The Socials. People will be patient, kind and offer you tips as you learn the moves. I very much enjoy Salsa Eddy and his team at Houston Dance Factory. My daughter LOVES coming to dance! The first few times we came here, she wasn't all too thrilled, but I think this was because it was a completely new and different experience for her. We started her off trying out a class, which was $15. After the class, if we decided to enroll her for other classes (which we did), they would deduct the $15 from the monthly price. We were able to snag the promotion they had at the time; buy 2 months, get the 3rd for free. Needless to say, we come to HDF four times a week because my daughter loves it so much. She not only attends one class, but THREE different classes! Her favorite is Hip-Hop, which she excels in. The teachers for each class are superb; they are patient and very helpful to the students. It's also nice that you are able to view your child(ren) while in the lobby. There are multiple cameras throughout the studio that allow you to watch your child on a TV screen in the lobby. HDF also has classes for adults as well. While I have not attended any of the classes, I can tell you they are well attended as the lobby begins to fill up right before they commence. I've heard that HDF also has dance socials as well, but I have not attended.....yet. read more

I absolutely love SalsaEddy's routine and approach to teaching Salsa 101! I signed up for Salsa1 in Jan and I just concluded my 1st Salsa2 go around. Eddy explains that in order to graduate to Salsa3 one most be skilled in all of his routines, which I see fair. I enjoy his personality and the way he brings the steps to life :) Unfortunately my work schedule won't permit me to attend in March but I will most definitely sign up for April again because I truly believe in his teaching abilities; so much so that after only two months I already feel the "Salsera" in me flourishing ;) I totally recommend his class for anyone who is serious in learning.. Horrible horrible place! I signed my child for hip hop classes. She was looking forward to dancing and making friends. When we got there front desk person couldn't find our singin for a long time. He gave my child a wrong chip and had no idea about specials advertised online he also never gave a receipt for money I paid for the classes and a shirt he forced to buy because it wasn't ok for my child to have little starts on her black leotard ( she's 3!). I asked if my child was the only one signed up and he said they don't keep a track of people who sign up. My child was upset because she alone and she was crying. I asked if it would ok for her to take a ballet class instead before the class started and he said she wasn't wearing a proper outfit after forcing me to buy a shirt! I tried to get her to go dance but she kept crying. I asked a front desk person if I could switch her classes for next time and he said he didn't know how to do this and the only was to figure it out was to email an owner and wait a week for replay. Same thing if I wanted my money back and there was no way for me to get money for a shirt back that he forced me to buy! He made me cry and my child cry! This messed up our whole day! And they still don't want to give me money for a shirt that I left there back! Cheap people! I spoke to an owner and asked why didn't they tell ahead that my child was the only one signed up and he said they never do that and they never keep a track of people sign up! P.S. The shirt that they made me put on my child looked like it had blood splashed all the front and it took me a while to realize it was dancers! I would never put anything on my child! We came to Houston for our granddaughter's dance recital. It was held in a church which was extremely hot with no air movement. After each performance the owner would speak for a minimum of 5 minutes about himself, future classes, and other nonsense. I started taking salsa dance classes in January 2012 with Salsa Eddy at the Dance Studio in Humble, TX. I love to dance, and I always wanted to learn salsa. Since my friend told me about it, I finally had the opportunity to do so. He is an amazing instructor, and you get a lot of practice in for an hour. It's a great workout and really fun. You don't need to have a significant other to join the class. I started with the basic class in January on Wednesday nights for 4 weeks, and it was $40 ($10 per class). In order to move on up to the intermediate class, you have to know the basic steps (traditional, basic, basic turn, cross body lead, and counter clockwise). It's simple with plenty of practice, trust me! I'm now taking the intermediate class which is also for 4 weeks, and it costs $40 as well. I wanted to pick up a hobby with my boyfriend where we would both be coming into it clueless. I thought it would be fun to learn something together. I decided on salsa! My boyfriend and I have been taking salsa lessons from Salsa Eddy over the last few weeks. My boyfriend (who I had to ask three times if he would puh-lease take salsa lessons with me), after the third week of class, suggested we continue through to the intermediate and advanced classes. Yes, and he knows that means an additional 12 weeks of salsa classes!! I had a couple of friends recommend Salsa Eddy, and others who heard of him as well. It came out to $10/class - super cheap for the kind of one-on-one attention you receive in a group class. He's extremely thorough in his teaching. Basically, if you come to class and practice a few minutes each day - you'll learn the steps. The pace is perfect for us - as we don't have dancing backgrounds. We stayed after for a sneak peak on what to expect in the intermediate class, and we got super excited. Most of the people in class are not couples - so don't fear if you're a single. It's a really fun atmosphere and would recommend it to anyone (especially living in Houston, as salsa seems to be everywhere!). read more

I take classes with Eddy Deynes. His teaching method is very thorough and very efficient; it also has a lot of variety. He emphasizes musicality more than other instructors in some studios and his format provides opportunities for individual feedback within a group class (which is difficult to do). There is a lot of rigor involved in Eddy's method: he doesn't allow his students to slip under the radar with bad technique or bad timing. It is both a studio for people who are serious about improving as well as serious about meeting friendly people. Además, Eddy promotes salsa dancing twice per week every week at local clubs. It's not a studio where you feel anonymous or undervalued because of your level. It's not "clique-ish." You learn about the music while you learn about the dancing (two sides of the same coin), and THIS I have not found in any of the other 4 studios I have been to. read more

So unprofessional! The toddle ballet instructor (Paula) is always late. The class starts at 11:15am and she always shows up at best at 11:16am or at 11:30am ( it happened twice already within a month). Does not apologize does not make up for lost time and just moves up with her life and our money. The only reason why we're still here is because it's the cheapest thing around us. I guess you get what you pay for. Also beware of starting a class in the middle of a month when they'll have you pay for 4 weeks ( 4 sessions) and your kid will only end up getting 2-3 sessions because guess what: "no rollovers" but no one tells you when you sign up. So you pay for sessions that your kid would never attend. The owner is ok. He understood that the information was misleading allow for an additional session at "no charge". read more

Very nice dance school, I've been there since two years and I did almost all types of latin dances and I can guarantee that all the instructors are very professional. They always spend extra time to explain the moves if you need. the classes are diversified and Eddy use his creativity to build new combos almost every class.... you will never get bored... Love this place!!! I am taking Cuban Salsa/ Casino class with Alex. I took some Cuban Salsa class when I was in Paris for 5 months. When I came back to Houston, I have been looking for the right one who really knows the terms in Spanish and can explain the steps like how I was taught before. I am so glad that I finally found this class. People here are very friendly. Alex also teaches salsa for free at the clubs on every Friday and Saturday. We get to go to the clubs and practice salsa dancing with the group. When I come to dance, I feel the passion, and I am happy! I think I am addicted to it!! read more

Coming from Puerto Rico and being a salsa lover, I always wondered why I could not lead well my partner. The answer was that I needed to be educated in following the salsa beep (la clave). SalsaEddy educated me to count with the beep, corrected me the basics turns and provided me the tools (pulling and the Puerto Rican pushing arm) to lead my partner during five private lessons. I enjoy footwork dancing and SalsaEddy does have 24 defined steps to learn. I still need look forward moving to the next level. My son tried the Hip Hop I class. Fortunately, they do have a "try it" rate of $15, so the money isn't the issue. The instructors never included him in the class. The other participants have apparently been taking for awhile and they were called up by name to try out different steps, but they never acknowledged or included my son. Very strange. I have been a memeber for 4yrs and as the years have gone by the service here gets worse and worse. It is so very unprofessional the teachers leave like a revolving door. The front end changes receptionist almost every 3 months. The owner is not a man of his word. Sad that theae kids dont really have much progress in their art of dance. The payments are very affordable and all the teachers specialize in their form of dance but are also able to step in for other classes because of their vast knowledge of dance within its self. Very disappointing! I have never taken the time to write a negative review about a business but I was so disappointed with the customer service, I took the time to review my experience. My five year old signed up for a hip hop class. We did the trail class and signed up for the classes in the future. The front desk manager said we would have the same teacher for our future classes. When we arrived today, the original teacher said she was no longer teaching the class and a new young girl would be. I asked about her experience and this was her first class EVER teaching. My daughter went into the class and as I watched, The manager asked for payment for the month and I asked if I could pay for this one class seeing that we haven't experienced this teacher. She refused and said either I signed up for the whole month or she would pull her out of the class. I offered to pay for this class, seeing that she had been in it for 20 minutes. She refused. I asked that she call the owner. She refused. As we were talking 2 little boys ran out complaining that she was teaching too fast. My daughter complained about the same thing. It was a disappointing experience. I would NEVER refer anyone to spend their money at a place that doesn't handle disputes with care and concern. Very UNPROFESSIONAL! read more
