As much as I wanted to like this school because of the initial tour (which is gonna be the only times that you might ever see a director or the owners) and the proximity to us, the experience for us was disappointing on many levels. We left three years ago after several months of enrollment, yet I STILL have negative feelings about our time there and unfortunately, I continue to hear from others about some of the same issues. I was initially very enthusiastic about Mariner and even recommended it to two friends, both of whom stayed And were quite happy. In my case unfortunately, things did not work out and turned unpleasant quickly. In my son's class, one wonderful teacher left, followed shortly by the other. Within a short period of time, the class went from a teacher-to-child ratio of approximately 1:8 to 1:22 children. The replacement teachers who showed up over night were very young, no native English speakers and without credentials or experience I would expect from teachers responsible for so many young children. More concerning to me were the safety issues. On two occasions, my son came home with unexplained bruises. The second incident ultimately led me to withdraw. I received him back with a huge bruise, and no one at the school could explain how it happened! Two days later was then told that he 'had a habit of rubbing his head against the carpet'--something he had never seen before and I have never seen since. During my meeting with the director, it became obvious that someone was not watching my son and he got injured, but they were not clear about how it happened. Do not send your child here! We immediately withdrew and while Ms Jenny and Ms Pat handled the situation courteously and refunded tuition and deposit without delays, the experience left me deeply concerned. During the time my son was enrolled, there was also an extraordinary amount of staff turnover. Several teachers who had left stayed in touch with us and told us they had left because of poor working conditions and low pay ($13/hr). There was also a woman at the front door (Ms Jessica 2021-2023) who was consistently rude and made morning drop-off unpleasant for families. She was eventually replaced only after she moved to New York. Another thing that always bothered me was the overwhelming smell of cleaning chemicals. I understand and appreciate the importance of cleanliness, but my son would often come home smelling strongly of Fabuloso. It was so strong that I found myself wondering whether the school was relying too heavily on chemicals rather than using more thorough cleaning methods such as deep or steam cleaning. I genuinely dreaded that smell when I picked him up. To make a long story short, there are better options out there. After leaving Mariner Montessori, we enrolled our son at Children's Village in West University, and our experience there was absolutely wonderful year after year. Mariner Montessori was a very difficult experience for us, and unfortunately, even years later, I still have not forgotten it. I heard a similar concerns from another parent, and finally decided it was important to share my experience as well. I hope this helps other families make an informed decision. Each school has their pros and cons. read more

Had to call the fire department AGAIN today to have their blaring alarm reset. If they pay this little attention to their alarm systems, imagine how little attention they'll pay to your kids. I'vd heard this alarm going off for hours during the school day as well while children were walking in and they did nothing. Beware this place y'all. And if you're the owner reading this, CALL YOUR ALARM COMPANY TECHNICIAN to fix your issue so we don't have to keep wasting the fire dept's time. Also they said they'll ticket you eventually and you better believe I will keep calling them. read more

I cannot recommend this daycare. In roughly 10 days, my kid came home with around five injuries, including bruises near his eye and scratches and bruises on his arms. There was zero communication from the teachers or management, and they often couldn't explain what happened. The lack of supervision, transparency, and accountability was unacceptable. I completely lost trust in this daycare and withdrew my kid because I no longer felt he was safe there read more

First let me start that I Absolutely loved Infant 2 class. Mrs Ester and Mrs Nancy are Amazing. I felt very comfortable knowing my child was cared for and loved while being away from me. My child learned so many amazing things and was excited to go to school each day. After infant 2, you no longer get activity logs or pictures of your child even though it state ms you will in the parent handbook that you sign. 45 day withdrawal notice without proration so be sure to time it perfectly or you'll lose out on your deposit. My child no longer enjoys going to school and haven't been able to connect with the new teacher with the exception of 1 that has since resigned. 2 of the 3 teachers in Toddler class is no longer there within such a short period of time. . The food is unhealthy (Apple Jacks, ect ) for a 20 month old even-though my child feeding directions show nothing with added sugar. I really want to like this school but with the higher ratios than all of the neighboring schools and multiple undocumented accidents leaving my child with marks and no explanation I just can't recommend this school. $1700 per month, + $150 quarterly supply fee... not bad but not worth it for what you get read more

Words cannot express how grateful I am for Mariners. My 3 kids graduated from Mariners and we had a very positive experience during our time there. The teachers are fantastic and provide a very caring and nurturing environment. They make learning fun and I was constantly surprised at how much they were absorbing at school. Also, I felt that my kids were well prepared for kindergarten as Mariners has given them the foundation to succeed and thrive in elementary school. The administration is a pleasure to work with. I appreciate their flexibility and understanding. They are willing to work with parents if they can on their end. Thank you Mariners! read more

Mariner is not just a daycare or school, it was a safe and happy second home for our son. If we didn't have to move, we would have kept him here for all of preschool. The school's curriculum, cleanliness, and teachers' individualized attention for each student are reasons why Mariner is a 4/4 star Rising Star school. Also, Mariner's playground is hard to beat - which is why Jax's favorite time during his days here was being outside! For the entire 1.5 years at Mariner, our son had consistent and loving teachers from start to end during his time here. This school was a happy place for our son and we owe it to the teachers and staff who care and dote on him. Thank you to Ms Sharon for your patience and being the first teacher in my son's life. Thank you to Ms Nancy and Ms Michelle for potty training our son and for cultivating a fun and safe environment where he created his first friendships in his life. From the bottom of our hearts, we're incredibly grateful to all the staff and teachers who played a part in developing our son's independence, curiosity, and politeness. We felt like everyone treated him with special attention - any parent can't have been more pleased to have this for their child. read more

My daughter was previously enrolled in two different daycares, both of which were difficult experiences due to the lack of care from the caregivers. However, at Mariner Montessori at Galleria, she has had the happiest moments and a wonderful time. She is currently in the Infant 2 class, and her teachers are incredibly caring and loving. They always show genuine empathy for my baby's feelings, and I feel completely comfortable leaving her in their care. The growth and development I've seen in my daughter since she started with them has been remarkable - I'm amazed by her milestones every day. I'd like to extend a big thank you to Ms. Daniela, Ms. Ester, Ms. Moraima, Ms. Tania, and Ms. Alaguthayammal for all the love, care, and dedication they show my little one. I couldn't ask for a better environment for her! read more

We have been extremely fortunate to get a referral to Mariner Montessori for my 15 month old son's care. Although we live in Austin, I often have to be in Houston for work for extended periods. Mariner is an absolute godsend. The teachers are so loving, attentive, and knowledgeable. I feel very comfortable with the care my son receives. The administration is also very attentive and responsive. I couldn't be happier with the communication. I love the updates and photos through the parent application. Whoever takes the photos should go into private photography on the side because the pictures are beautiful and candid. It is very reassuring to receive updates throughout the day. Mariner's prices are better than fair. We could not be happier with our experience and will continue to return to this center as long as we are able. read more

Thank you to all their teachers, specially the ones my baby has had. Ms Claudia, Ms Maria, Ms Lupita, Ms Eugenia and we love Ms Jenny Thank you for being so so amazing with my baby. We were concerned with sending our one and only son off to school. Work demands made it impossible to keep him home. Thankfully, our son's first visit was a hit and he's loved each of his levels, Infant 1 and Toddler 2. We know he enjoys his instructors because he lights up at the mention of going to school. We couldn't have asked for a better environment for our kid. read more

This school has become an extension of our family. We really appreciate that Mariner excells at creating an environment where students can develop and be genuinely cared for. It was a big relief when we found this place because we were really nervous about putting our kiddos in school. I'd like to share an update since my last review. The school, staff, and curriculum are still wonderful! My children have thrived with the amount of support and guidance given by the wonderful teachers. When I drop them off at school they run towards the building with huge smiles. I can tell they truly love being there. The teachers work with me & my husband during transitions and fussy phases to make sure we're all on the same page with how we respond. The school has added extra curricular activities (Ballet, Soccer, Tumblebee Bus, etc) and my oldest absolutely loves participating in these. Mariner Montessori is the first place I recommend to any parents looking for a school. read more

If you are hesitant to put your little one in daycare Mariner Montessori is the place for you. The day i toured the facility i knew it was the place, the whole staff is friendly and knowledgeable and seem to love what they do. My 1.5 year old has excelled and learned so much at Mariner! I'd like to give a special thanks to Ms Esther as she is AMAZINGGGGGGGG, my daughter thinks she is her mom that is how loving, patient, attentive and kind Ms Esther is. She always makes me feel like my daughter is in great hands and is no trouble at all (although my child is VERY active and i know can be a handful). Ms Esther I can't begin to thank you and the rest of the staff enough for all you do for our children. My baby loves you and we are sad about relocating. Thank you again Mariner we have enjoyed our time with you all. read more

Mariner Montessori is not a daycare, it's a family. We've been here for almost 3 years and I've seen firsthand all the good they invest into these kids. Ms Jenny is the director and she leads these teachers with accountability and support. Her focus is on making sure your kids are cared for and have the best team to do so. Her leadership is why this place is successful. I have seen over the years how she's diligent in getting the right teachers to the right classrooms. She offers support and at the same time requires excellence from her team. Mrs Natalie is the assistant director and she always has a smile on her face. She is so kind and helps keep this place running smoothly. My sons have had the pleasure of being under the care of a few teachers but here are some of our favorites: Ms Nancy & Ms Michelle- as a team these ladies lead their class with structure and a great amount of love. They have helped my little dude regulate his emotions better and become a good listener. He loves the projects and comes home singing all the songs they sing in the class. They are mommy #2 to my son and I feel like every day I drop my son off, I'm leaving him with family. Ms Mona & Ms Adele- they have taught my eldest son so much! He comes home talking about science concepts, history and LOVES math. He's memorized addition, subtraction, counting, sight words and starting to word blend for reading. He completes full addition and subtraction workbooks and asks for more. His enjoyment and want for more education is because of these ladies. They've made learning fun and he loves being a part of every activity. Every day I feel like I'm dropping my kids off to be with family. What they are teaching the kids is so valuable. Good morals, treating people with kindness, learning to express yourself and a love for education are only a few things they focus on. To have a school family this loving and kind is beyond valuable. My boys still talk to their old teachers and get to see them every day. It's a family, through and through. I never worry about my kids being exposed to screen time or them developing bad habits with tv, video games or any electronics. The only electronics allowed are the iPads the teachers use to play music or communicate daily activities to parents through the procare app. Positive communication is encouraged and kids are held accountable for not saying "potty" words. In this day and age our kids are exposed to so much early on. Mariner has been a safe haven to keep my boys at appropriate levels of learning and being held accountable for being good humans. If you have a chance to be at this Montessori, you're going to be pleasantly surprised at how incredible this place truly is. My kids have been through each class here and it's always been a positive experience. We love it here and are so thankful to the teachers and culture they create. read more

Mariner Montessori has caring a knowledgeable staff that will not only care for your child but they are a well polished team that is truly loving with all of the kids. My daughter transferred here from another great institution and Mariner has over exceeded my expectations. They offer extra programs during school hours like ballet and soccer. Instructors come to the school for their lessons so that is a big time saver. My daughter constantly brings home age appropriate learning lessons, her class has a homework folder that they use weekly and I can go on about this place. They have a good system going with their check ins and dismissal. I love the updates they are making on the parking lot. Overall 10. I feel like my child will be prepared for public school come Fall. read more

I can't talk enough about this school! My daughter attends the toddler 2 program with Ms. Renee, Ms. Mary, Ms. Marcela and im so glad to have such lovable teachers my daughter can trust. It's our first time ever at a school and my daughter walks in with such confidence and loves her class. The curriculum and S.T.E.A.M activities are amazing and such age appropriate for my toddler. I definitely recommend this school to everyone starting from the office staff with the wonderful director Ms. Jenny and the knowledge of Ms. Jessica and the warmth from Ms. Nataly to the teachers everyone is so welcoming and made us feel like home. My daughter has learned so much and loves helping me at home. Mariner Montessori is the way to go!! read more

I've had my kids in a few Montessori schools in Houston but my family settled on Mariner because they were quite simply the best. The location is great, the facilities are excellent and the price is a great value. But most importantly it's the people. They simply have the best staff of any Montessori in Houston. Bar none. A few were trained by Ms. Montessori's relatives! They take pride in their work and spend a lot of 1:1 time with the children they care for. My son shows it in his knowledge and inquisitive mind. Best. Montessori. Ever. read more

For anyone considering daycares in the Galleria area I strongly urge you to visit Mariner Montessori. My daughter is 5 and currently in their Primary Class under the direction of Ms. Fatima, Ms. Mona, and Ms. Emily; and I can not express my gratitude enough. My biggest anxiety is hoping I have left my most loved possession in good hands, and that she is safe and learning in a fun environment. This school and these three teachers far exceed my expectations on a daily basis and I feel it's important to share. I'm a single dad with a demanding job and it isn't easy keeping up with school events and curriculums. These teachers make my life so much easier by always communicating and keeping me in the loop on menus, learning agendas, and the day to day happenings with my daughter. It makes me so proud to see how much my daughter's mind is growing and how ready for the next level she is. I see how her teachers are so loving and nurturing and how well they know the needs of each kid. I have spoken with other parents for this class who share the same views of how amazingly lucky we are to have them. My daughter is learning lessons in life, and manners, and broadening her curiosities. She says phrases in other languages and asks me how my day was! :) But most importantly, she tells me she loves going to school and learning, and loves her teachers and making friends. I owe the credit for that to these very special ladies who take the best care of my kid in every way a parent would want to, and to the Directors Ms Georgette & Ms Angelica too. Mariner's Primary Class is a Godsend and we couldn't be happier. Go see it for yourself! Bring on Kindergarten, we're ready! Thank you Mariner for all you have done for us! read more

I have transferred my three year old to Mariner from another school due to its convenient location, and stayed there for the exceptional experience. Please notice that Mariner was opened as a Montessori in 2019. Many older reviews refer to Excel daycare that was replaced by a true Montessori school with a completely new team and management. The school building is completely renovated and well organized. Parents and students are personally greeted each morning by the school director Ms. Vela. Then you walk into spacious, open, well lit rooms with brand new wooden furniture and a multitude of Montessori training materials. Your young one would be even more impressed by a large outside playground with plenty of space to run for even the most active kids. But it's not the building that makes all the difference at Mariner Montessori. It's the teachers and all the personnel at the school. I was very concerned about my son's transition, but it turned out to be surprisingly successful, all due to the most welcoming and friendly teachers. On the second day he ran into the class, waved to me and kept on running to his teacher. No tears since! For a brand new school, Mariner boasts several teachers with years of experience in Montessori education. Learning is very obviously a high priority at the school, though I am equally impressed by the effort spent on teaching good manners and social skills. And did I mention all the extracurricular activities? Music, dance, ballet, soccer, gymnastics, just to name a few. Another thing I love about the school is the ease of communication. With weekly newsletters, daily updates with actual pictures of your child throughout the day and instant communication with administration and teachers, I finally get to be a part of my son's school day! As we have a new baby, it is not even a question for us which school she will be going to. Thank you, Mariner! read more

It's our third year at Mariner, and our experience could not have been better. my kids were in The school from toddler II to Primary II. The teachers and administration go out of their way to make each day special. The amount of fun, learning , development activities they do is countless. They Decorate a whole room as a space ship, Christmas decorations are over the top and so personal - classes compete for best door decor, learning visits from first responders, field days, outside snacks in Spring, on top of celebrating every holiday on earth. It is the best return for your money on the market - school hours run from 7:30-6 pm, the inhouse food has variety wirh Veggies or fruits with every meal, the enclosed outside play area, great communication from administration. And you stay because your child know not only their class teacher names, but all of the teachers and staff by names, because teachers take extra effort to take pictures of siblings in different classes together when they can, because I have not seen a frown on any of The teachers. I don't know how it's humanely possible, but this is what Mariner is. read more

Mariner is an amazing school with amazing teachers who sincerely care for your kids and make them feel special. I was apprehensive about sending my baby to daycare and had considerable mom guilt, but the teachers put me at ease quickly and more importantly, they put my baby at ease by welcoming him. Thank you to the director Ms. Jenny and also to his wonderful teachers!! Ms. Maria and Ms. Monika taught him so much as an infant, some highlights were baby sign language, sensory experiences, how to blow kisses, how to dance to baby shark. Ms. Ester, Ms. Lupita, and Ms. Crystal were also amazing. Some highlights were his art projects, playground time with friends, epic door decorating contests, and birthday parties. Its a joy seeing how happy he is about going to school, he walks right in without looking back. As a mom, I'm proud because he is growing into a confident, independent big kid. Our daughter came in from another daycare which we absolutely loved, so despite hearing positive things about Mariner from a family member, we still had some initial reservations. Our daughter loves the staff, her teachers, and her fellow students, so much in fact that she is excited to head off to school most mornings. Jenny, Jessica, Nataly and the entire crew simply do a wonderful job with our little girl, and our family is overly glad and thankful we chose Mariner as the place for her early learning and growth. When our family moved to Houston from Paris, France in March we were desperate to find the perfect daycare for our son. He had already been moved schools twice in one year. My husband's company arranged for us to visit with a realtor some of the best Montessori schools in Houston/Katy. All the schools were nice but it was Mariner that impressed us right out the gate! The manager, Ms Jenny was extremely welcoming even for Texas standards! She took us on a tour of the premises and even offered to let our son stay for the day while we looked around at houses nearby. Ultimately we chose Mariner and our son attended until the end of the school year. Nothing about Mariner disappointed us! Their approach to Montessori is very different from what we are used to in Europe but he learned a lot and made friends quickly. The teachers Ms Mona and Ms Adele gave my son specialized attention and care. You can feel the love that they have for the children. They saw my son was already a strong reader and worked individually on that and he even taught him some Spanish which he loved! My child has been at Mariner since 12 weeks of age. It was such a terrifying thing to put her in daycare during pandemic, but Mariner made the process smooth and easy for us. We cannot sing enough praises for the teachers to date - Ms Claudia in Infant newborn and Ms. Maria and Ms. Lupita in Infant 1. One of the reasons that drew me to Mariner is that they had a specific class for 0-6months as compared to other daycares with a 0-12 month room. We are so glad we chose Mariner. We have a soft spot for Mariner Montessori as our daughter first started to go to school here and had an amazing start to her educational experience. My daughter was initially skeptical about starting school as most 2.5 year olds but Ms. Renee went above and beyond to make her feel comfortable. My daughter excelled while at school and was advanced to the next class where Ms. LaRentis and Ms. Nancy continued her learning adventure. My daughter is vegetarian and Ms. Jenny went above and beyond to accommodate her meal needs. We recently relocated out of Houston and sadly had to move our daughter out of this school. Ms. Jenny and Ms. Nancy gave our daughter a wonderful farewell with a beautiful poster memorializing her memories and time at school.
