Came here for a court appearance for a ticket. The security screening lines went smoothly and quickly and the screeners were friendly. People were stationed at the entrance to also help guide you to where you need to be, 2 different people were so kind to make sure I knew where I was going. Arrived to my court room and the officer taking attendance was very helpful as he told me I needed to talk to the clerk to see why I wasn't on the docket. I approached the clerk who was very welcoming and helpful, she printed out my new court date, apparently my attorney's office was on vacation so the date was changed. I got called for jury duty recently. I had no idea it was traffic court. I know it's my civic duty, but what a long boring day! I didn't expect this to be a fun filled day, but a review is still necessary. From the start, I was annoyed I couldn't find the "H" parking lot to use my jury duty free parking coupon from my jury summons letter. I thought it was just me. I ended up using the parking directly across from the building. There were plenty of spots when I arrived at 8:34 AM. My duty didn't start until 9:30 AM, but lucky me, I was early - heavy eye roll! The first parking meter closest to my spot that I attempted to use was broken. Nothing showed up on the screen to start my ticket purchase. I walked to the next meter in the middle of the lot. Anyone wanna guess if it worked. Correct, it did not! I moved a couple steps over and tried the third one. Finally! A working meter! Thankfully it wasn't raining, but even at 8:30ish AM in Houston, it is still hot. I was not pleased I had to try so many meters. $5.00 for 4 hours or $10.00 for the whole day. I opted for the whole day since I had no idea what time I would end up being released. I walked back to my car and placed the ticket on my dash. I also took a photo of it to have on my phone just in case. As I entered the building, I was greeted and told to remove my shoes. I get it, but the mat I had to walk on, while barefoot, was so dirty. I finally got my belongings and headed to the jury waiting room. The jury administrator was kind. I handed her my summons and she asked if I parked in "H". I told her I couldn't find it, but that I did self-pay in the lot across the street. Then, I took my seat. As more people entered, I kept hearing them say they too could not find "H". Phew! It wasn't just me. I heard at least 7 or 8 people say they couldn't find the free juror parking lot. We eventually were told about the process and due to the low number of cases, we would probably be released BEFORE lunch time. The judge swore us in and we started our long day of sitting. We were free to come and go and use devices. A bathroom is located directly outside the juror room. Down the hallway is a little area with multiple vending machines. I was surprised the prices weren't crazy expensive. One vending machine takes Apple Pay via your iPhone, so that was cool. The other machines took cash, coins, and credit cards. You are allowed to eat and drink in the juror room. In fact, most people had their own drinks they brought along with backpacks, and a couple people even had a lunch kit. I had no idea you could bring all that. I will be more prepared next time. As lunch time came and we were all still there, we were dismissed for an hour to get a bite to eat. A food service called Fooda was in the vending machine area with 3 types of chicken options at $15.14 each after tax. The serving portion was large, but the taste was not that great. I got the curry chicken. Maybe I should have gotten something else. We returned to the room for more waiting. No one ever got called and we finally got released at 3:10 PM. All this for traffic court and only $6.00 paid for the service. After my gas, mileage, time away from work, parking at $10.00, 2 waters at $2.00 each, lunch at $15.14, and my snack at $1.35, a $6.00 pay is insulting. And again, all for traffic court?? The people who don't want to pay their ticket put all of our day on hold. Maybe I don't understand it fully, so maybe it should be explained better. My suggestion would be to have the free parking more identifiable, fix your meters, lower the price of parking if not using the free lot, clean the entrance mat, offer free bottled water, offer one free snack in AM and one free snack in the PM, lower the price of your lunch service, and up the price on what is paid to the juror. My time is valuable as I know everyone else's is too. It's a hard hit on people who are trying to do the right thing. read more

It's court, lol. You are charged a minimum of $5 for parking, and if you are summoned here, you are probably paying them something. I was just merely turning in my def driving completion paperwork and was asked to remove my shoes to go thru security?? I didn't know I was boarding a plane. Use of power of authority over people at 100 percent but what's new...wife got a ticket 5 months ago, she did defensive driving, paid court fees to receive a call this weekend stating ticket is unpaid and warrant for her arrest.. we come to court this morning for the clerk to tell us we should be good to go but we still need to see judge. for the rude judge woman to not acknowledge my wife's statement and just say it's late you need to pay next.!like who peed in your Cheerios fr....people like this is what's wrong with the world... fr like Wowwww this just shocks me... how do these kind of people serve our city/govt smh. Really no other complaints other than the security being complete a-holes for no reason. Everyone there serving their civic duty is an adult so please check your attitude before you come to work. You are communicating with people of different education and socio-economic backgrounds. Came her for jury duty early May 2021 so covid precautions were still being practiced. At the entrance you must get screened with your belongings, just like at the airport- shoes off and you walk through a metal detector. The jury duty room you wait in is towards the back of the building and can seat a fair amount of people. Walking through the building I saw vending machines for purchasing snacks and drinks. And there were restrooms right outside the assembly room. The room itself can be a bit chilly so I recommend bringing a sweater. Wifi was spotty as well. Since it was covid times, masks were mandatory as was every other seat. They clearly marked which seats were off limits to maintain social distancing. Well, coming almost 30 minutes early for jury duty- this was a huge advantage. I arrived a few minutes after 9am for my scheduled time of 9:30. By about 9:40am, all the late stragglers had appeared and the assembly room was full which meant they got to release the jurors in the room (in chronological order) so the other jurors who were all waiting outside could come in. Score for me! I literally was there for less than an hour AND I got paid $6! I'm sure this will all change since covid times are slowly coming to an end. Otherwise I can't really complain much about my time spent here. I cannot comment on parking as my husband dropped me off and picked me up but the free parking lot for jurors seemed to be a few blocks down the road- not the adjacent lot across the street. Jury duty is one of those thing that I loath but feel bad if I don't do it. With that said, the City of Houston jury duty is much better than the Harris County one. So, below are the things I learned for someone who is new to the city. - Parking: Free parking at Lot H. No lot attendance when I was there on 6/8/23. Just tear up the "coupon" on the upper right hand corner of the notification letter and place it on the car dash. Best way to get there from the South or West is through Memorial Pkwy/Drive - STAY ON THE RIGHT LANE. Court entrance is a slow 5min walk from Lot H. There is a paid lot with with pay stations in front of the court too - $5 for 4 hrs, max is $10. - Security check: right inside the building entrance, like airport non-TSAPre. Jacket, shoes, belt, watch off. BUT, you can bring full bottle/cup of drink. Don't put it in the bin for it to spill. The security will ask you to take a sip from the cup/bottle! Then leave it on the bench in between the scanner gates, you walk thru the gate then grab your drink. - Assembly room: * Follow the signs to go toward the back of the building. Small quiet room, unlike the chaotic giant Harris County's Jury Assembly room. Still spacing out people, with paper signs on every other chairs. Comfy chairs and padding. Temp is a bit cold, since only half of the chairs can be used. Wear long sleeve shirt or bring a cardigan. * Check in with the admin first then find a seat then wait and wait and wait. If you have books, electronics and earphones to occupy your time then it can be blissful. There are also magazines in the racks next to front doors and emergency exit. Internet connection is pretty decent. IMO, best seats are in the back row against the wall - you can rest your head against the wall AND there are 2 plugs outlets there. There is also an outlet next to the last seat at the emergency exit, another one at the 1st seat on the right wall. There is a long L shape computer desk set up in the front with ~5 outlets. * Eating and drinking is allowed in the assembly room. Restroom right outside of the room. Vending machines and lunch vendor is about 20 steps around the corner. Overall, a good jury duty experience for me. Nice facility and staff. read more

I was here doing my civic obligation - JURY DUTY! I have been living in Houston about a decade. This was my 3rd time being summoned for jury duty. I felt honored because I get paid $6 for sitting in a room full of strangers. I like this City of Houston Municipal Court better than the Harris County Court on Congress St. Because we, the jurors, were on case by case based on court's demand for a juror. We don't get to see the defendants until we get to voir dire in the courtroom. Also, it's a one-day juror service, not a week-long dragging trial at the county court. The free WiFi was better than all the retail stores. OMG, I think it's faster than my house (not really). Restrooms are right outside of assembly room. Vending machines are in the breakroom after the 2nd guard post with metal detector. Speaking of this guard post, it is at the entrance with a ramp. If you are physically challenged, you should look for this entrance from outside (on the right side of building from main entrance). The guard was much nicer than the ones at the front entrance. I was really not comfortable of taking my belt off. It takes 5 minutes to thread through each eye on the pants with my ballooned belly blocking my view. And, I don't think they would appreciate me taking my pants off at the guard post. Get the idea? I think they need a dressing room there. At the Assembly Room, there is an electrical outlet in the back next to the emergency exit. A bigger flat screen TV behind the administrator station and 2 smaller monitors on each wall. The 3-seat chairs were very comfortable and well cushioned. It's an one-size-fits-all chair. The temperature is a little cooler. I was glad that I wore long sleeves shirt. Oh, come dressed in business-casual attire, just no tank tops no shorts. They gave us 1.5 hour for lunch. There is a HPD cafeteria open to public. Nothing fancy, food and drinks are cheaper. I didn't sample the food there; I saw police officer ate there. So food must be good. I heated my lunch box and got a big cup of coffee. People were very nice. A cafeteria worker even walked with me and opened door for me (I was walking with a crutch). I was a little disappointed that I was not being chosen to see the courtroom. We were told they don't recycle jurors who already called to go through another selection. At the time of release, we have to sign out and receive a pretty certificate that I plan to frame it along with the $6 check. Upon leaving, I told the guard, "see you next year." He told me, "jury duty in municipal court is every 2 years but county court is every year." Ah! read more

Jury Duty Review, This is the 2nd or 3rd time I've been summons to jury duty at the Lubbock location. They have had a makeover in the jury room since the time I was here 2 years ago. Which is nice, but the rest of the building is absolutely dated! Huge pro - everyone there is SUPER friendly, or at least that was my experience. What you need to know: Lot "H" is free parking for Jury Duty members. When you get your summons the information on how to park will be located on the form. The easiest way to get to this lot is coming down Memorial, but you should enter it on GPS before your trip because it can get tricky if you don't know this area. Plan ahead. Be on time. Even a few minutes early. Have your form filled out BEFORE you get to the jury room. The outside of the courthouse and most of the inside is very dated. The grounds our poorly kept. Cigarette butts are everywhere and I did spot a glamorous lee-press on nail with diamonds on the ground as I approached the stairs. Is anyone cleaning this place? It's also located in a somewhat shady area. So just be aware of your surroundings. But then again, who is going to mug you with 100 cops right there? Be prepared to go through a medal detector. You can bring water or coffee. DO NOT LET THEM TAKE IT FROM YOU. Let them know you KNOW THE RULES - if you take a sip of your dink in front of them you CAN bring it in!!! You can say you learned this from moi! - you can do this at the criminal court house too. When you are sworn in and watch the "very informative" video (and I say that sarcastically) know that it is ONLY in english. NO spanish subtitles. I felt awful for the 2 women in the room who only spoke spanish and still showed up for jury duty and had zero help! It wasn't until they were dismissing people an hour and half into the day that the clerks finally said they could leave because they couldn't speak english. You will usually wait until lunch to be dismissed or called for a panel. Lunch options directly around the court house aren't too awesome, so you may want to pack a lunch. On the flip side, you may also want to get out of the courthouse for a bit. There are a few options. Check YELP. Wifi is free, so bring a phone or iPad. They have a snack bar - junky type sodas and drinks and water of course. Coffee to purchase. Several magazines are available which was nice. It isn't a horrible experience, but it isn't fun either. read more

This review is about the experience of going to the courthouse, from start to finish. First off, parking. It really stinks that folks visiting the courthouse must pay to park, especially when many are forced to be there. I guess it's just another way for the city to gobble up more money. Second, the security station. They get points for being quick, but negative points for negativity. The staff at security were a little rude and the process is more strict than an airport. I fly weekly for work and I know what sets off a metal detector -- but nope -- everything, including watches off. Time to take some of that money they make from the parking lot and modernize. Upon entering the court room, the judge was very friendly and professional, as were the staff in the courts. The time it took to get in and out -- well, that's a different story. No. Just NO! I've been here plenty. Most of the time because I was speeding. But a couple of times because I don't have a "front license plate" on the car. Unless you're going to try to fight your case and plea "not guilty" when you get pulled over for speeding or any moving violation, then I would highly recommend for you to come in PRIOR to your court date. In the middle of the day when it's not busy. You can apply for defensive driving or deferred disposition and have the whole thing taken care of in less than 30 minutes. If you hire a lawyer or if you decide to go to court as noted on your ticket, then I wish you good luck. Last time I did that, I had to come in at 7 or 8 in the morning and my name didn't get called until after lunch time. And just like Daniel L. had mentioned, there's not really anything to eat around here. The last time I was here, I came to apply for a deferred disposition (for speeding at 38 MPH!!!! No. It wasn't a school zone) because apparently if you had applied for it through email, they will conveniently forget to call you back and force you to go to court anyway. So I went, walked through the metal detector, waited in line at the cashiers to have my name added to the docket, went to court (took less than five minutes), went back to the cashier, paid, and went on my not so merry way. THIS is the only reason why this place receives more than a one star. Everything else about this place? Bad. Just bad. I hope I don't have to be back too soon. read more

Not a legal Eagle by any means!!! Today I had to come in for a citation I received. Was really nervous since I don't have a lot of experience with the court systems here in City of Houston. Honestly, nothing but great things to say. Walked up and was greeted by Cory employee. She had smile "with a mask" and ran through COVID precautions with me. After passing there the metal detectors played their part. Thank goodness the metal plate in my head didn't set machine off! Lol. Got to court room that was empty. Had two clerks and a pleasant judge there. I was going to leave names but I figured public officials might be a little sensitive about that. So we will just keep it at that. She quickly gave me a run down and advice on how to handle this citation. She was informative and communicated extremely well. Times like this I appreciate the systems we have in place. Firstly it was my first time coming and I had to come alone and was very confused about where the entrance was and the parking, they could make it more clear where the entrance is with signs. Also I came through the back and was greeted by a VERY rude man. Definitely a narcissist because his behavior towards me was incredibly demeaning for no good reason. Treat people how you want to be treated. He started yelling at me in a very stern voice telling me I have to go all around the building to the entrance even though he could easily walk me through the door to the security right there. He was incredibly rude and condescending. Wish I had his name so I could call him out because he is not doing his job well. This world does not need more negativity. If I could I would give him 0 stars. Not to mention I had to walk back to my car 2 times. The first time it was because I was greeted by a nice young man my age and he told me technically I wasn't supposed to park where I parked but it should be ok and he told me I just have to put my pepper spray (it was on my keychain) back in my car but he scanned me so that I could come through the back to the security. Then when I came back from my car to leave the pepper spray the rude older man was there and he was not inviting at all. He was talking to me like we were arguing for no good reason and then I told him I didn't know where the entrance was or where the parking area for visitors was and he was still very rude. Was already confused and nervous because I had never been to court before and his goal was to make it worse. Definitely made me sad to see people like this still exist. read more

We decided to get married and let the court complete the ceremony to finalize it. From the moment we checked in until the moment we walked out the door we felt welcomed. The customer service was really awesome. The lady that took our payment held several positive conversations with us and wished us well. The judge made sure we were comfortable and gave us suggestions on holding hands and where to place the rings. The man that escorted us to the judge and around the facility was very hospitable as well. He offered to take a few photos for us, gave us encouraging words and told us to be safe. We felt like valued citizens. Everything moved very fast but the customer service took the cake. We were also congratulated multiple times. Thank you for making our experience great! read more

I had to come in here for a traffic ticket, but the entire process was confusing, but completely sorted out by not only one, but two supervisors. They were professional, and although you needed to pay a boat load of tiny fees, it wasn't nearly as bad as having to go through the motions of court. Parking is easy-peasy-lemon-squeezy -- there's a HUGE lot across from the court building and again (more fees) its not free. But it IS easy to find a spot in this HUGE lot. I recommend you bring at least 2 credit cards since they will be charging them for fees, fines, etc. As much as I thought the entire process was confusing, they WERE professional and got me in and out within an hour. Would I return? HAHAHAHAHA.... no. Only if I have to! read more

Ho hum. So everyone will get some sort of traffic ticket at some point in their life. No matter how "perfect" of a driver you are, you WILL get a ticket. It sucks. The young officer with braces who writes all of your tickets sucks. The finite amount of time to take care of expired inspections sucks. Having to get this taken care of during the holidays sucks. It's all a big bother. I wasn't certain what to expect as I'd never been to this Municipal court. To put this in perspective, it wasn't as bad as going to the DPS office. Every employee is nice, yes even the police officers. After seeing my laundry list of tickets, the officers at the information desk asked why he hadn't also given me a ticket for not having brand new tires or a properly detailed car. Ha, ha...right?! After the information clerk gave me a court room number and instructions on how to get to the court room, I ventured downstairs. I'm not certain if it was the holiday or just how they operate, but the line moved really quickly. Well, I think my tickets held the room up a bit, but still. I think from parking lot to information desk to court room to cashier back to parking lot, I was only there for an hour. (Bring a book.) Oh, parking is in the fenced lot across the street from the Court. The entrances are off of Houston Ave or the feeder to Memorial. The cost is $3 for two hours or $6 for all day. Also, the Court's hours are from 7am to 10pm. Oh, and even though you may deserve a burger from Stanton's (two blocks away) after finishing up with the whole ordeal, it isn't open on holidays (or the eves of holidays). read more

Jury duty experience here was actually not bad. The employees are all polite and some of them are actually pretty funny. I was there from 9a until about 3:45p. The latest they will ever make you stay is 5p which is nice and the cases never last more than 1 day. They offer jurors free parking, though the lot is actually 3 or so blocks away with no shuttle service. It's not a big deal really, just be careful crossing streets since Houston isn't the most pedestrian-friendly city. We got two 20 minute breaks (one in the morning and one in the afternoon) along with a 1.5 hour lunch. I chose to drive to the new Chick-Fil-A on Taylor and I got back in plenty of time. Be aware that you have to go through a metal detector just like at the airport when you enter the building. They have you remove your keys from your pocket/bag along with any other large metal objects like a watch or belt. Everyone entering the building has to do this, including jurors, so allow yourself a little extra time. So, if you happen to get a summons from here worry too much about it. The experience was as good as it could've been and the cases are usually just running a stop sign or something so there's not a lot of pressure. read more

Had a wedding ceremony here, and it was exactly what was stated. Very quick and efficient. The judge was had was so nice and very accomodating, as were the staff. If bare bones ceremony is whay you want, this is great! Also, though it is recommended that you bring only eight guests, there's plenty of room in the courtroom for more. Only downsides are that the outside of the building looks a little on the shabby side, and you have to pay for parking. read more

How can you rate a place that you have to attend Jury Duty a 4 star? Well one of my favorite quotes is "it's all relative". Yes I would hate to have to attend Jury Duty, but if I do, I would prefer it be here. The cases are not as life or death. The longest you would have to serve is until 5 pm of that day, no cases last more than the day. The judges here are very nice and fair. This is nothing like tv. I was called to be a witness. First they treat you like you're at an airport. I had to empty my pockets, take off my shoes the works! I got here early it was total confusion and I mean some of this people were dressed like idk what. Did you not know you were going to court? Tv totally dramatizes the legal process it's completely boring and most people end up having things dropped or get deals because no one wants to clog up the dockets with bull crap. Apparently someone hitting and running is one of those offenses. I mean why subpoena me and then ask me if I really want to testify?! Then the defendant arrives late and leaves early. Somehow I'm still here waiting to testify. The prosecutor is somewhat amusing. He was talking to a juvenile and decided to quote Ice Cube's "check yourself" to teach them a lesson. Btw he's a huge (big&tall) middle aged white dude. Even though he was mildly entertaining he's no Jack McCoy. Other than that the smell of stale piss, the utter monotony, drab colors, & ridiculousness of the system will drain your your soul! On top of it all having to take off work I wasn't even called! Also driving around here as well as parking is a motha! All in all a pretty sucky experience. read more

The only saving grace of muni court is you can email the presiding judge directly if you can find her email address on their website. The presiding judge actually seems like an empathetic human being which is far from the norm here. The bureaucrats who work here sent me a very threatening letter saying I was being criminally arraigned because I sent a check with the wrong amount for my deferred adjudication for a speeding ticket (which I got in a speed trap in an area with no speed signs, ugh). Thankfully the judge cleared it up. Email her direct and skip the bureaucrats. Reading the ticket was already like deciphering the Rosetta Stone. Just tell people what they owe and don't be so difficult. If I had been out of town when they mailed me, I would have missed my court date. Not very cool at all. First off, I have a variety of conflicting emotions about giving this place 4 stars, like some of the other Yelpers who left the same. A heads up, my review has no particular order, just a few points I wanted to mention. Parking. Some of the reviews mentioned parking for $3 to $5. I alway park at the same location every time, which has been more then I care to count. Across the street on Lubbock are old school parking meters. I usually have change in my car, so its not a problem, but they don't take credit cards. There is usually a homeless guy or two wondering around, but they are actually helpful, even if they do want something in exchange. The last time I parked there one of the guys told me parking was free after 6pm. You can't beat free parking in that area, so I gave him a dollar; everybody wins. Food. For some reason I am always starving before court and there are never any good places close by. The last couple of times instead of trying to ignore my hunger pain until afterwards, I stooped by Taco Caliente. It's a food truck parked in a lot on Lubbock by the parking meters. I was more then delighted by the fresh taste of the tacos. It demolishes Taco Bell and damn near as good as El Rey. The selection is limited, just chicken and beef. Skip the chicken thou, always go with beef and at $1.50, its a great buy. If you ever have to visit this place, hope for Judge Edwards, Court 9. She was extremely friendly and explained to people their options when she was talking to them. Metal Detectors. There are two with two employees operating them. Try to go in there with as little stuff as you need. I would leave the dress shoes at home, unless you want to talk them off. Once you enter there are giant screens to your left that have names listed in alphabetically order with court numbers, so you can easily find where you need to be without asking anybody. I suppose as citizens if we are called to serve as the judge explained it others having giving their life and limbs so in comparison a day spent at the court is justified. Had my wedding ceremony here and it was nice and simple. We did have to pay for parking but that wasnt a big deal because it was right across the street and it helped since I was wearing a long dress with heels. We had a Saturday ceremony which was pretty awesome for a courthouse wedding. Walking in was a little uncomfortable for wedding guests because they must got through a metal detector but the staff was very friendly and patient. Our judge was so sweet, thank you Imelda Reyes-Castillo!! She made our ceremony very comfortable and we didnt feel rushed at all. No regrets :) read more

This was my first time being summoned at this location. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE make sure you do a 'double-take' on your summons and confirm whether you are needed at City of Houston Municipal Court (the one this review is for and where I went and FYI, the free Lot H parking lot is close to Buffalo Bayou Park near the skate park) vs. the Harris County Court (downtown). Of course, I am telling you this because I made a mistake and went to the wrong one, but went early enough that I was able to arrive at the correct one, on time. The City of Houston Municipal Court received a high rating from me because the employees were unmistakably friendly. I have been to the other one multiple times and cannot remember ever having a more pleasant interaction than at this one with the Judge, Bailiff and employees! Even when I called to fret about possibly arriving late, the lady on the phone was calm, told me I could reschedule but also urged me not to worry about arriving a few minutes late and that I could still make it if I wanted to. Also, this court particularly hears misdemeanor cases where your service is basically 'guaranteed' to be 1-day only! Further, while the jury assembly room is not as fancy as the downtown one, it does have wifi. All these factors (along with a walkable FREE parking lot "Lot H" a few blocks away) makes this a win for me. I understand its tough being excused 1 day from 'life', but I do also believe in serving and having this right to be heard by peers--so here I am with a good attitude. There is a cafeteria and vending machine but I brought my lunch and I was able to bring 2 bottled waters and all items were in plastic containers. I brought my laptop and a thick book just in case and note that when you are actually called in for voir dire, that is when you cannot have the items and they should be tucked away. I will save you the suspense and tell you that I was chosen to serve in the first panel of the day, but after our panel heard the case from the plaintiff's side, it was evident to the parties' that they should strike a deal so they did and we were dismissed. Everything happened efficiently in a friendly manner and I never felt lost or really upset to serve. I know it can be frustrating as a hiccup in your day, but to serve at this court, I was very pleased. Note: Ladies, bring a jacket/sweater because it gets super cold in the court room and in the jury room inside the court room. read more

Originally, I refused to handle traffic cases but I have recently started picking some up. The waiting game is unfortunate. For a first timer who's expecting to get out of here in an hour or two, please let go of that expectation. As compared to the criminal court house, the elevators are much better & getting through security is a little easier (Thank God I have a badge that allows me to go straight past all of that). Anyway, some days it can be an in-and-out process, while other days it can be hell waiting for officers and judges. By the way, they perform weddings now for anybody who wanted to know. read more

Could be zero rating. All they care are money. There is no free parking for the court! Even paid parking spaces are too little, and you have to drive around to find a parking spot. I am the first time to the court, and it took me more than 20 minutes to find a space to park, and I had to go through security check point to get in, and I finally entered the correct court room (there are a lot of court rooms for the same day, which off course generates a lot of revenue for the city). When I checked in and I was told I was late I have to reschedule a court day or pay the fine even the witness wasn't there. My lawyer told to them a few times and they just want the money. Update: I got my traffic ticket dismissed because the cop didn't show up, no cops showed up so everyone who elected for a trail by judge had their cases dismissed, no defensive driving, no nothin'. read more

Cant expect too much coming to the courthouse but no complaints with my experience. Stopped by to get a warrant check around 9pm and I got a little lost going downstairs since the form said the office was located in the basement but a gentleman assisted me right away and steered me in the right direction. The wait was minimal but then again it's 9pm. The lady who assisted me was quick and not rude. Parking was a flat fee of $5 across the street but thank goodness they also accept credit cards. read more

I am almost 60 and I'm caring for my 79 year old mother, through this co-vid 19 and I received a speeding tkt at the sped trap they have for minorities when your leaving down the ramp to gulffrwy near Cullen and u of h , you can't give accurate speed going down a hill common sense, but it's a money maker for harris county , well I walked into 1400 Lubbock and these people have to do their job I understand but I went on a Saturday and the only people I saw were African-American not one asian not one Hispanic not one other race only African American , which is fine I'm glad that everyone needs a job but when you walk in as a brown Hispanic person and immediately get treated like a criminal or dirt it gets really scary that there's no justice for another race, the judge treated me like dirt on her shoe the court room was empty and no one was there , how can I as a brown Hispanic woman get treated a normal American anymore if everyone there hates Hispanics for the color of their skin , I'm afraid for anyone that they will never get help and only if your white or black , it does not matter that every person is black it's how they aren't doing their job just sitting there getting soooo much money for nothing there was 7 cashiers working and no one person showed up to pay tickets this is abuse of money paying people just to sit there read more
