I was in the area with 2 hours to spare before my next activity, but wasn't in a spending mood so I stopped by. There's always plenty of comfortable chairs, wooden tables, and public computers open for use. The workers are always polite and helpful if you need to use a computer or reserve a room. I've also used this place several times in the past several years to get some studying done. I've never had issues. There are 2 private rooms on the 2nd floor with a customizable air blower in each room. It functions well as both ventilation and white noise. You face a window to the front entrance which is great for letting sunlight in. However, the room is quite small so it's not ideal for claustrophobic people. I forgot to take a picture but this place has a children's only area as well. The windows are decorated with creative memes and other drawings that add to its kid-friendliness. Looks like a great place to bring your kid here. I've seen more impressive libraries around Houston but this one is by no means bad. This is the new Harris County Library branch that opened June 2011. It is a lovely building with a…read moregreat kid's section, separate teen room called "Teen Isle" and adult books. It also has a small book store. There is an informatin desk as you enter staffed with friendly librarians, and self check out machines. This location even has a drive thru to return books and pick up requested items. They offer children's story time and lots of activities during the summer for kids, teens, and adults with the Summer Reading Program. They have a book club, and active Friends of the Library group. The best part is they are part of the Harris County Library system and you have access to TONS of books and materials from the entire library system!!!

Another branch was the only branch to have it. I've enjoyed visiting various branches and since getting my library card. This library is really nice! Spacious and clean. There's ample seating with pods, open tables, private meeting/study rooms, and a lovely balcony area with more seating. There's an elevator as well- accessible. My initial visit was during the holidays so there was lots of decor. Librarians/Library staff were friendly and helpful. When I'm in the area, I'll definitely return!

I needed to locate a book for a discussion (professionally related) and the Pearland Library was the only location to have it. So shout out to the Brazoria County Library system! Thanks! I've visited this location once to pickup my library hold. I explored for a short period of time but not for very long. I was able to grab my hold off the shelf with ease and get it checked out with the library staff member. Kudos to them because I didn't have my physical library card with me. I chose to give them a call first to ensure not having my physical card wouldn't be a problem. Staff members were nice and helpful. This location is spacious. When I'm in the area, I'll definitely return. Oh something else to note - a huge green flag (!!) for this library system is that you can apply for the library card online and they will send your card to you in the mail. The children's section wasn't completely separated from the adult section as I could hear rambunctious kids talking oh so loudly and playing as if they don't understand the concept of silence. It does seem like the selection of audiobooks and DVDs is far greater than what Parker Williams and Freeman library has combined. Though, this isn't a Harris county library branch. I'm not sure if that's the reason why they don't have wifi for guests. The staff wasn't very welcoming as when I walked in I wasn't greeted, just stared at like I was an alien from outer space. However, one of the shelving assistant that had a Irish accent or British accent was polite and showed that she was friendly. They have early voting going on now in a separate room. There aren't any tile floors just carpet and no bad odor inside. Also, the parking wasn't limited meaning there is lots of spots available. It's pretty convenient to find, if you're traveling from Green Tee just drive straight onto Liberty Dr., it's on the right side across from City Hall. Just off of 518, right before you get to the episcopal church.

You don't have to live in friendswood to get a card and it's free. You could apply online but it's pretty simple in person. There is a QR code and it takes 2 minutes to fill out. We have only explored the kids area which is a life of fun. Plenty of parking in from of the entrance!

This…read moreis a small branch of the much larger Harris County Library system, but held a host of pleasantly sweet surprises and I don't have enough good things to say about them. Right when we walked in there were two ladies at the desk who sweetly asked how they could help me, which they did, with getting an actual library card (the only one I had was for e-books), helped with my daughter's summer reading program logging and prizes (she got to choose a brand new age/level appropriate book), then told me that reading to and with my daughter counts towards my adult reading program too, along with some additional helpful hints. Then she pointed us to the children's section, which was filled with all kinds of fun and sensory things to do besides read which were so fun I had to force my daughter, who normally LOVES books, to come over and pick one out. They also offered us a free school summer lunch, which are offered for school age children at various locations throughout Highlands and Baytown courtesy of our local school district Goose Creek Consolidated on certain days at certain times. All these things plus, weekly story times for littles (ages 0-5) and a family story time, other fun weekly activities for different age groups, as well as, 26 Computers with Internet, MS Office, and Catalog access 1 Pharos Computer Booking Station, 1 Print Station, and 1 Pho9tocopier. So, if you're ever in the area or just want to check out this mini, but mighty Harris County Library locale, I promise it'll be worth the trip.

I happened to be in the area and decided to stop by to check out their book sale. While their selection was smaller than other libraries I've visited, I loved that they had a "Fill a Bag" sale for just $5 running at the same time as their standard $0.50-$3 per item pricing. I found a few great titles to add to my growing personal library! What stood out most to me were: 1. The building doesn't have an awning or clear signage showing the library's name--kind of surprising for such a seemingly historic spot. 2. The space had a distinct "old" smell, like the carpets hadn't been cleaned in years and decades of foot traffic were still lingering in the fibers. 3. The librarians were incredibly kind and didn't rush me, even though I walked in just 10 minutes before closing. Their patience was especially appreciated as I wrapped up my purchase right around 4:55 PM. It's rare these days to not feel rushed, and their courtesy really stood out to me. All in all, it's a charming little library worth a visit, especially for the book sales!

Blink and you just might miss it…read more I think Manvel Branch library might just be the smallest library I've ever seen. Going east on Hwy 6, it's tucked in a tiny strip mall (if you can call it that). My husband and I went there to get our library cards so we could check out books for our Kindles. The process was simple: just fill out a form, show some ID, and you get your card. The librarian told us how to use it and how to access the library's online selection of Kindle books. All told it took less than 10 minutes. I can't vouch for their selection of physical books, because I've never checked out an actual book, but I can say that their Kindle book selection is pretty good. It's kind of nice because Manvel is really small and if you want a new release, you can usually get it right away, unlike some friends in large cities who have to wait a long time on a waiting list. I'm a fan on facebook so I get updated every so often. It sounds like they have a storytelling time for kids and maybe even some craft days, too. Books are so important for kids so I think it's great that they have these resources, even if they are so small. It's nice to have a library so close, but just keep your eyes peeled when you're looking for it. It's that small.
