Since we had just eaten, we weren't in the mood for the cone, but we had a great conversation with the owner, Christopher Michael. He makes all his flavors on his own, personal recipes. If you're expecting a snow cone with chunks of ice and store bought syrup poured over it, forget it. The ice was finely shaved, and the flavor was all through the ice, almost like the taste of heaven on snow. An excellent surprise and worth driving a few miles for. As we talked more, Christopher owns a local business, and has been trying to work with local leaders to get a place for the local kids to hang out, do sports, etc, but hasn't been very successful in getting city leaders to agree. So, he did what every other single bright intelligent entrepreneur would do. Start a business to get money to do just that! So, that's what this business is for, to make money to help the youth of his community! A true community leader, realizing that the kids are the future of their town. So . . . . . GO!!! Mine had romaine lettuce, tomato, red onion, pickles, and mustard, and everything tasted fresh. Kincaid's is still my #1 and Marty B's near Argyle is #2 for me, but Best Burger Barn is a strong #3 and still in my top 5 burgers. There is also a Dairy Queen in Yoakum, Texas where I grew up as a kid. What fond memories! Eating at this one in Alvarado was everything I expected from eating at the local DQ. The food was fresh and cooked-to-order. Service was also very prompt and friendly. The restaurant and surrounding property seemed clean and well-maintained.
