When you order strawberry ice cream, you get actual strawberries in it--none of that artificial stuff. The ice cream is always creamy and fresh, and it never feels heavy, even with the toppings or cone. The shop itself is super cute, and they have this nice outdoor seating area with big games to play. He was incredibly warm, friendly, and kind. An amazing first impression! Since it was our first time, he gave us a rundown of how it works, and then we made our picks. I kept it simple - a mini serving of the New Zealand style with mango. My husband got the Blueberry Bonanza. Both were so delicious! Their ice cream is fresh and the Dr Pepper is made with original cane sugar which adds to the original rich flavor. They also have scooped ice cream that you can add toppings to. The flavors are very mild and fresh, not on the overloaded sugary side. It's very refreshing! The service there has always been friendly and fast and they always seem to have a steady stream of customers. But, you say, what about the ice cream? Let me put it to you this way. We sampled the Hokey Pokey and found it perfectly delightful. Convinced that Henry is offering a great alternative to industrially-produced varieties, we left with two pints, one with fresh blueberries and another with pineapple, yeah pineapple. Phenomenal ice cream, it is on par with the real thing! Service was good, the sprinkles (or, to be more authentic, hundreds and thousands) tasted real too which I loved! Ambience was great, family oriented place with decent seating. My family is in NZ so I've spent plenty of time in the summers in these ice cream shops. My two recommendations to make it feel more authentic: add chocolate fish to the topping list and test out native fruit like feijoa. I'd loved to see mānuka honey featured as a topping as well.
