The worst customer service !!! Been a patient for over 20 years and seen this practice fall well below acceptable norms. 3 days for pain & antibiotic medications, waiting 5 days for ANYONE to return my phone calls and falsified returned calls and prescription call-ins. I am new to the area and made an appointment on a friend's recommendation. I must say I did not have a good interaction with this office. I went in for a cleaning and afterward the dentist came in and told me I had a cracked tooth and needed a crown. He showed me an x-ray of the tooth on the tv screen in front of me and pointed to an area that he said was a crack. I told him I didn't have any pain or discomfort and he just told me how lucky I was and that we needed to get after it right away. A week later I returned for the procedure. The dental tech sat me in the chair put on my bib and left the room, 45 minutes later the dentist came in. He injected my gums with novicaine and I sat another 45 minutes waiting for novacain to work. When the dentist returns he leans the chair back and starts drilling. After a few minutes of listening to the drill and settling in for what I thought would be a long procedure, the drill goes silent. "Oh look at that, your tooth isn't cracked after all" he says. He refills the tooth, turns off the light and leaves the room. So in essence I lost time from work just to have the dentist remove a perfectly good filling from a non cracked tooth and then refill it. And to top it off I was charged over $300. My advice is to steer clear of this office and find one with dentist who aren't trying to upsell services their patients don't need. read more

My daughter was basically fired today. She had informed them that her doctor had put her on medical leave due to a high risk pregnancy. She was scheduled to go out two weeks from tomorrow. HR was fine with it, but one of the dentists said they were getting someone to do her job, which means she's fired. The sad part is the HR approved her leave. Yes she is one month shy of FMLA, but she had already been approved, so no short term disability pay and no job, but I've been telling her for months that this was going to happen, although I thought she'd get her disability first before the let her go. I understand that everyone is entitled to their own opinions and I am not one to write nasty reviews but I just want to encourage others to ALWAYS reach out for second opinions. I'd like to start by saying that I was very eager to visit Howard Family Dental due to the high recommendations they received. My first appointment there was positive and I felt as if the staff was extremely caring and knowledgeable! I did have to be referred out to see and Endodontist and after my procedure, I was informed to reach out to my primary dentist to have my permanent crown placed. I called Howard Dental the day of my root canal and they informed me that they just needed to receive the completion notes from my Endo (which I completely understand that I called prematurely)! I was informed that as soon as they received that completion they would be reaching out to schedule my crown placement, this was on a Tuesday. I followed up on that following Friday and was informed that the scheduler was out sick and would not return until that following week. I called to schedule but I was told they did not receive my completion letter, I called my Endo and they confirmed that the letter was sent to Howard. I called back and was told a message would be sent to the scheduler. I allowed a couple days to go by and I called with no answer and was redirected to someone working from home and she was even having issues getting in contact with the office staff. I understand that the office will be busy as any place of business during peak hours but I was stressing the importance of getting my new crown placed. I finally was put in touch with the scheduler and she informed me she called days ago. I told her that I received NO calls or a message but they were arguing that they did. Regardless, I got my appointment scheduled. I came in for my appointment on 03/28 and was still greeted with kindness and I was eager to get my crown placed. The dental hygienist was pleasant and directed me to my chair for a quick eval. I informed her I was just feeling some throbbing when I would eat but overall I felt great, no pain. She informed me that of course any temporary crown doesn't last forever and that she would take a quick look in which she noticed a crack in my tooth. She told me at this point there would only be 2 options since there is a crack: 1. the crack may not be that severe and the tooth can still get a crown or 2. the tooth has to be extracted. Dr. Sammons came in and told me that she would take a quick look at the tooth. Quick it was. She examined my tooth for less than 2 minutes and immediately told me that the crack was too severe and that my tooth needed to be extracted. As someone who takes excellent care of my teeth this came to a shock and I began to tear up. She had no bedside manor and when I asked about the temporary placement on my she sharply informed me that there was no temporary crown/filling and that she was certain the tooth was severely cracked because "it was not moving" I asked if that was a good things and she told me "no" that is was essentially being held by bone/tissue. The only option was to remove the tooth. I told them that they would not be removing my tooth that day and I just wanted to go. Dr. Sammons just left while the super sweet technician was finishing up my chart. I was in that office for 13 minutes total from check in to check out. More time was spent speaking to reception and my technician than actually with Dr. Sammons, with ZERO explanations. They were so quick to give me quotes for an almost $700 flipper and scheduling an extraction appt. THANK GOD I called my Endodontist who did my root canal. I went in for an evaluation with them today and I am SO thankful that I did. Had Dr. Sammons scraped away my temporary packing/filling on my tooth (that 'wasn't there') , i.e. taken more time to truly evaluate that 'severe' crack. She would have seen that my tooth was PERFECTLY FINE! Getting a second opinion saved my smile and a few thousand dollars. Needless to say, I'll never come back. read more

When my wife and I signed up for the dental plan at 479 $ total we assumed we would be provided those services but Oh No we were told we needed an additional 600$ to get the services per DMD so Bait and Switch ,besides the office is not what I consider Clean and although the office staff were pleasant the overall feeling is not anything I can reccomend BEWARE read more

They tried the same scams with us, telling us we (family of 5 total) needed deep cleanings, my kids needed 20 fillings between the 3 of them, refused to clean mine and my husband's teeth until we paid for the recommended deep cleanings - thousands of dollars of additional work! We switched after my daughter's mouth was cut open during a routine cleaning that they wouldn't even accept responsibility for, even tried to blame her (?!), combined with their fraudulent charging and refusing to refund for services they never provided. They also refuse to provide our records to our new provider or us. I've filed a formal complaint with the Georgia Board of Dentistry and I encourage anyone else who has been scammed or harmed by this shoddy practice to please do so as well. We are SO happy with our new provider - and guess what? No one needs a "deep cleaning," my kids had 3 cavities between 2 of them, not 20, and we had our teeth cleaned without being harassed, threatened, scolded, sold a bunch of products that are "required" including a special mouthwash that you can buy on Amazon and a "prescription" toothpaste, or being held hostage until we did things their way! Went to this dentist for deep cleaning which I never had before.No one told me about any problem you have.A few days later it started. Severe pain on rt.side or face.During the 2 months I have not been able to manage the pain. after 4 doctors a ct scan and brain MRI turns out I have a damaged nerve that cant be fixed ,except for drilling a hole in my head.No one ever told me about Any risk.Please stay away they dont care. read more

I scheduled an appointment 3 weeks in advance only to find out it was cancelled when I arrived. The staff were not concerned and didn't show the slightest concern to make things right. This is a prime example of poor professionalism and deserves recognition at the highest level for the lack of customer service. My first visit here, super nice staff, and after two years of no dentist because of the pandemic, my teeth were in desperate need of a cleaning. My hygienist, Christy, explained everything about what i had going on and showed me pictures on the monitor over the dental chair. I always ask questions, but I don't usually get people who take the time to explain so well. During my cleaning, she clearly focused in and worked hard to do a good job, the difference is amazing. I don't write allot of Yelp reviews, but I had such a good experience I think it's the least I could do. I highly recommend Howard Family Dental. read more

I was referred to this place by a my friend. My friend doesn't speak much English and is not able to ask any questions about what she said that is needed to be done. Whatever Dr. Sammons said that is needed to be done, she paid for it. I just moved into town and getting braces soon, so I decided to have my teeth cleaned before I get braces put on. My last teeth cleaning was done in April 2016 my dentist told me that I don't have any cavities. When I got my teeth cleaned here in June 2016, Dr. Sammons told me that I have 6 cavities and a tooth needs a crown. I was so shocked. She didn't even look at my teeth to see if I have any, all she did was clicked around my x-rays and told me I have 6 cavities and a crown needed and left. I called my old dentist to have him look at my new x-ray and he once again confirmed that I don't have any cavities. So, I went to a third dentist to see if I have any cavities, the third dentist confirmed that I don't have any cavities and the crown is not needed unless it's bothering me. read more

RUN!!! DO NOT GO HERE! Worst experience of my life with Dr. Sammons! I genetically have bad teeth...they look beautiful, but get cavities very easy despite having excellent oral hygiene. I had a clean bill of health and no oral pain/issues prior to going in, and even the dental hygienist commented on how excellent my oral hygiene was. I left that day with this HUGE laundry list of problems per Dr. S. I wish I would have gotten a second opinion, but I didn't. After weeks of misery getting old fillings redone and 5 crowns done (yeah I was STUPID for letting them do all that to me without a 2nd opinion), I still was having server pain to the point of causing headaches. I would go back in for adjustments, but still no relief. I got to the point were I was so angry at Dr. S. that I decided she would NEVER touch my mouth again!!! Now a year later, I can't chew on the right side of my mouth, and even drinking room temperature water is miserable. I ha ent gone to another dentist because I am terrified now! I made myself a promise though that I am calling a new dentist this week to get this taken care of. Sad that I paid A LOT of money already....just to have to pay someone else to fix Dr. S's mistakes. read more

I made an appt here almost 2 weeks in advance to have a filling put in a tooth a had a root canal on (because, like most, I can't afford a crown) I have a filling in my other root canal that I've had since 2008 with no issues. I got a call less then 24hrs prior to my appt saying that they refused to put a filling in it and they would only do a crown, when I told them i have a permanent filling in another root canal tooth because that's what I can afford, they just said they refused and I would have to go elsewhere. This is really disturbing, not everyone can afford crowns, that doesn't mean they should be refused treatment. read more

If you want to have work done that you don't need and pay way too much for it then this is the place for you. I was told I needed 10 crowns... 10! .. I went to another dentist (not telling the new dentist what Dr. Howard had told me I needed) and nothing was said about needing crowns. I specifically asked the new dentist questions about the health of the 10 teeth I was told were "diseased" and he was please with the teeth, saw no problems. read more

I have had nothing but positive experiences with this dental office. Both Dr. Lindsay and Dr. Jason are professional, down to earth, knowledgeable, patient, and clear. I have not felt rushed, and they have always fit me in for every concern I have presented. The office staff has been understanding and helpful in regard to billing and insurance. My hygenist was super personable and knowledgeable, too. The facility is well decorated, clean, and cool. The assistants are kind and relatable and serve the team well. I highly recommend. read more

It seems I had the same problem that I'm seeing many others did. I had relatively healthy teeth my whole life -- a few old fillings from when I was a kid, but that was pretty much it. Upon seeing Dr. Sammons, she convinced me that every filling in my mouth needed to be switched over to a porcelain crown, despite the fact I had no pain or issues. I reluctantly agreed and regret it to this day -- SOOOO many problems! One crown never felt right and kept coming off. They readjusted it about 8 times and finally told me I must need a root canal and refered me to a surgeon. He was suprised I'd been referred, as he didn't really see the need for a root canal, but I wanted him to do it because I thought that would stop the crown from being uncomfortable and popping off. No such luck! It was still terrible. They also did some crowns on my upper left side that left my teeth so senstive that for years, I could only chew on my right side. I went to a new dentist who told me that most of my crowns did not fit properly and even pointed out to me on X-rays where the problems were. Insurance won't pay for new crowns yet, but when they do, my new doctor and I have plan to replace the problem crowns. And much of the pain on on the left side was caused by a "dentin island," which the new doc fixed super-easily. Also, Howard Family Dental told me I had advanced gum disease after I bled during a procedure. However, my new dentist said my gums look fine and have never had a problem with them bleeding during cleanings or fillings. I'm pretty sure they're a corporation/chain, just looking to increase profits. read more

Dr. Lindsay Sammons said I needed crowns. After having the work done, I went back numerous (4+) times to get my bite corrected without success. We moved to another state (job) & here I am not even 2 years later needing to have BOTH crowns replaced b/c they aren't seated correctly. The left side of my face hurts, especially when I chew. You can see in between my gums and the crown, food is always getting stuck. What is left of my tooth will rot until I can afford to fix it. What Dr. Lindsay Sammons set out to "correct," she made horribly worse! Also, my husband visited her on my recommendation and he has issues with every single filling/tooth she worked on. read more

We renewed our insurance with BCBS, I have been using it at my Dentist with no problem. My husband goes in and they tell him this was cancelled in 2/2016. I call them up and tell them it was renewed that February and backdated to October and has been renewed every year. I asked them why they don't check and verify with the insurance company and they said it is a courtesy when they do that. That is a flat our lie, since they need to verify insurance with everyone so they can submit the claims. They have no sense of customer service and do not care about their customers. After reading some of these other comments I think they just want cash paying customers and do not want to deal with insurance. They most definitely do not understand customer service and how they stay in business is truly unknown to me. Stay away, there are so many other dentists in the area that are better and really do care about their patients. read more
