I want to share my extremely negative experience. I went to Dr. Stephanie Joy Sweeney for dental bridge, and it turned out to be the worst decision I have made. The process took 7 months, which is far longer than expected. But the worst part is the result. After everything was completed, I was left with facial asymmetry, constant discomfort, and difficulty in my daily life. This is not what you expect when trusting a professional. They are by far the best dental office in Savannah. We drive an hour and a half each way to go see Dr. Sweeney and her team. Her new doctor is absolutely outstanding as well and everything is first class there. Their mascot Lexi, their therapy dog is one of the cutest creatures on the planet. If you want to go to an office that truly cares about you and will treat you exceptionally well and has the latest and greatest of technology which makes a big difference, this is the office you want to go to! read more

I called and scheduled an Invisalign consultation in October of 2023. I explained that my insurance wouldn't cover it and I would be paying out of pocket. The "consultation" consisted of a hygienist struggling to scan my teeth, then Dr. Redenz breezed in and out and let me know I was a good candidate for Invisalign. There was immediately a woman in the room with a payment device asking for $5k. No discussion of how the Invisalign treatment would work, what to expect, offer of a payment plan. Just wham, bam, give us $5k. Two weeks later my aligners came in and I went back on October 31st for installation. A hygienist installed buttons on my teeth and Dr. Redenz came in to shape my teeth so they'd be able to shift. While using a wire wheel on my teeth he slipped, let go of my lip, and sliced it deeply. Blood was pouring and out and he had to quickly stitch it up. He blamed me by saying "it's hard to stay still", as if it was my fault he slipped. They slapped my aligners on and sent me on my way with a mini ice pack. (Note: I immediately followed up and documented the incident with my primary care physician.) Less than two hours later the stitches came out and I had to go back later that day for four new stitches. (See photos) Brushing and eating was difficult and painful for two weeks in addition to my teeth shifting with the new aligners. I now have a permanent scar that curves from the inside of my lower lip to the top of it. My first set was 21 trays, I went back for a check up after the first ten, and then didn't have any more appointments until April, when I was on my last set of trays. In April I still wasn't happy with my teeth so after another scan (hygienist still struggling and had to call a second person in for help) they ordered more trays for me. On June 13, I went for a scan following my final tray. Although I would have liked to continue with my treatment for another adjustment, I explained that I was moving out of state in July and needed to order my retainers. I was originally told that the $5,300 package I bought included retainers. Imagine my surprise when I was told those retainers were "in-house retainers" and "trash" and that if I wanted the Invisalign Vivera retainers it would be another $600. I agreed to pay for them, and got the scans on June 13. At this visit I was seen by Dr. McLoughlin after being told "Dr. Redenz is no longer with us." I was told they would call when my retainers arrived in about two weeks for an appointment to remove my buttons. By July 11, with my out of state move getting closer, I called to ask about the status of my retainers. I was told they would find out and call me back. They didn't. I called again the next day and they told me that my retainers still hadn't come in but not to worry they could mail them to me. Okay, I still have buttons on my teeth. Not to worry, "Krista" will get the retainers and I can expect a call on Tuesday (July 16, over a month since my teeth were scanned). Tuesday comes and goes with no word from Krista so I call on Wednesday. "Krista" is not at work so I get passed to a couple other folks who don't know the status of my retainers. They call back 15 minutes later with amazing news! My retainers just arrived 20 minutes ago! My in house retainers will be done by the end of the day! I make an appointment for Thursday morning to get the buttons off and pick up my retainers. For the first time I meet Dr. Sweeney, when she comes in to finish removing my buttons and polish my teeth. She ground off so much of one lateral incisor that I now have a very obvious divot in it. (See photo) No chance to look in a mirror before they install the retainers so I didn't realize it until I went home at the end of the day. Half of one button on my lower tooth was left on making it incredibly difficult to install and remove the lower retainer. Two stars because my teeth are straighter than before, but I don't recommend Savannah Dental to anyone who wants to actually improve their smile. read more

Savannah dental is an amazing practice, from walking in the door I felt at ease. As someone who struggles to see a dentist due to fear they have a very relaxed, professional, and nice office atmosphere. Complimented by expert staff. Extremely friendly, helpful and understanding from the receptionist to the chair with my hygienist and dentist. I was personally blow away by the state of the art medical equipment( exam, Xray, scanning and felt comfortable with the amount of experience between the team for all of my procedures . Picking them for future dentistry is a no brainer. They are absolutely the peak of dental care. read more

Find another dentist if you're using insurance. I called for an appointment and they said they were able to see me the following day for a scheduled routine visit. They accepted my insurance and told me based on my plan the amount I owed was $40 and said they were out-of-network, that's why it showed as estimated, but they were confirmed my share would be $40. A month later I receive an invoice via email for $446, less the $40 that I paid. I follow up with the generic email listed, no response. I follow up again, no response. I follow up with my insurance, Anthem, they told me that a claim was processed for $179 of the $446, I accepted the funds from Anthem and paid this to Savannah Dental within 24 hours of receiving it. But obviously there's a large amount that wasn't covered that Savannah Dental is saying I'm responsible for. How can Savannah Dental quote someone $40 when they handled the insurance claim, then charge me $267!? After tracking down someone to talk to I was put in contact with Crystal and Elizabeth, who were unhelpful. They actually added a $25 'TC fee' without telling me why or what it's for. read more

I came across Savannah Dental after calling the emergency dental phone line. I had excruciating tooth pain and needed some relief after no medication would work. Upon entering the staff was pleasant and kept me calm as they worked to find the source of my tooth pain. I had to have 2 emergency root canals! They called Dr. Wiley Gustin's office and they immediately were able to fit me in. Then the follow ups with Savannah Dental were seamless and I didn't have to worry about anything. The whole staff is just immaculate and operates like a well oiled machine: the two Sarah's, Anna, Ms. Lacey and Ciara all helped me during my visits. Dr. Sweeney is just so sweet and really takes the time to get to know her patients. Savannah Dental was definitely my North Star during an emergency situation and I will continue to have them take care of me. I highly recommend them to anyone that wants to elevate their level of care. read more

DO NOT GO HERE! I went to the Richmond Hill location and was clearly LIED to and got the run around for over three months on my insurance claim, and was told it would be covered in full for my dental cleaning, not only was I told that in office face to face, but when I was scheduling my appointment over the phone, and Savannah Dental does not want to take any accountability and has my check from my insurance provider, that I keep being told will be cut to me when their Director of Operations returns, as I am on the refund spreadsheet. Then when I call in today I am told the additional fee was for service in the office? What? I have been calling for months and this is the first time I was told this, seems like a made up line to me. I was seen December 10th, 2024 and my insurance company cut the check December 18th, 2024 to the provider (Savannah Dental) and I really can not comprehend how a so called reputable company is ran like this. Then today I go online to see that the Savannah Dental in Richmond Hill is permanently closed, well of course because they are not running an honest business. This is UNACCEPTABLE and you are not running an honest company and I will be turning you over to the better business bureau. It is a true shame that a company is doing this to honest hard working people and they just DO NOT CARE!! This company needs to do the right thing and refund my money as I was promised before I turned over my debit card and was reassured it would be reimbursed in full for my cleaning. read more

I have no idea what the bad review is about. I've been going to Dr Sweeney for years and have never met a more caring dentist. Her entire staff is amazing and the technology they use seems to always be state of the art. Ive never had such a stress free and painless dental experience. I've sent many of my friends and colleges to her and everyone has been super happy. To top it all off Lexi the office Shiz tsu is adorable and the sweetest little dog ever. read more

I have had numerous issues with dishonesty from this organization. My initial phone call to this dentist's office was "Are you in network for XXX insurance". They said, "Yes". They were not, and kept charging my family increased costs. Every appointment we were up-sold. The hygienist (Ariel) would claim to do "deep-cleanings" without my permission and then try to charge more, even though the cleaning was the same quality and duration as any "regular" cleaning. They administered fluoride without permission, and then tried to sneak in the cost. When I noticed and complained ( Nichole) took it off the bill. My husband called and emailed numerous times once we discovered the in-network/out-of-network billing discrepancy, but they cut off all contact. They continuously massage the truth to fit their narrative. They are dishonest business people and will act kind while screwing you out of as much money as possible. read more

By far the best dentist and dental experience I have ever had. I have SEVERE ANXIETY about going to the dentist, but let's be honest going is a necessity. I have never had a bad experience and I have been going for over a year. Before writing a review I wanted to have a couple visits under my belt. You will not be disappointed. The staff is caring, understanding, and so empathetic. I always feel like I matter and they always answer all my questions with honesty. Oh and can I mention I never have to wait. My first visit at Savannah Dental was amazing. Elizabeth the receptionist, Mendy the hygienist, and Dr. Sweeney herself were amazing. I would recommend this practice to any and everyone. They made my dentist experience wonderful and I used to hate the dentist. I've never felt so warm. Amazing job!!! read more
