I needed a spare key for my 2023 Chevy suburban. I called the dealer and they wanted a lot not to mention they told me the wait til would be several hours at the dealership. So I called Howard Safe & Lock, and they were extremely friendly and helpful over the phone. They quoted me two prices different prices, one to come to me and one price for me to go to their shop which I appreciated since I was not looking to spend a ton of money! I decided to go to them because the cost was cheaper and they were able to get it done within 30 minutes. I was beyond happy with how FAST, AFFORDABLE, and professional they were. I will definitely be coming back and would recommend to anyone who is in need of a locksmith!

Last year: After researching Wi-Fi locks and paying $250 at L*we's for a high-rated one, my thought? How do I install this thing? Tried...too complicated for me. Nope. Not doing it. Read reviews for several locksmiths and chose Howard Safe & Lock to come out to do the work for me. Service: took less than 10 minutes Cost: $129.90 I am not complaining because this was a "want" purchase, not a need. For me, it was worth every penny. The locksmith came out--maybe not on time, but he did show on the day scheduled. He didn't talk much, but that didn't bother me. The lock was installed smoothly and quickly. You know how much of a pain in the butt it is to try and get a spare key for a freaking Infiniti? It's a whole lotta pain in the butt!! I called a couple of local infiniti dealerships to ask them how much it would cost just to cut and program a new key fob and both places told me that they couldn't just cut and program a key fob that I'm providing; but instead, I'd have to buy the key fob from them that they will program for me. The cost? Well over $350 FOR ONE!!! Thanks, but no thanks! So what did I do? Step 1: Buy new key fobs from eBay. Cost? $120 for two key fobs. Step 2: Use Yelp to get quotes from multiple locksmiths with stellar ratings. Step 3: Win. Howard Safe & Lock was one of several locksmiths I'd sent a message to through Yelp. Although all the locksmiths impressively replied to me within five minutes (seriously!!!) I decided to go to Howard Safe & Lock. Why? (1) Lowest cost if I were to come in to their shop but not to have them come out to me. Although the next lowest was only about $15 (per key) more to have them come out to me, Howard Safe & Lock is pretty conveniently located from my work and is within walking distance to Hughie's Heights and Fusion Taco so I figured I could stop by here when I'm doing lunch. (2) They have stellar five stars rating from 27 reviews on Yelp and 4.8 stars rating on Google from 77 reviews. Although the other locksmith also had a excellent ratings on both Yelp and Google, the $30 savings from going to Howard would pay for my lunch. So as I was planning, I made my way out here during lunch time. When I arrived at the shop, however, I was told that the person who gave me the quote (Liran V.) was currently out and that he had the programmer for the keys with him. I was told that he'd be back in around 45 minutes. No worries, as I stated above, I was planning on having lunch anyway so I walked to Fusion Tacos to wait. When I came back to the shop, Liran still hadn't returned so I waited a bit. Not ten minutes later he came in and started working on the keys. After he had programmed and cut the new key fobs, he asked me to go ahead and test them out. I did to make sure that the key fobs will remotely lock and unlock the doors and to open the trunk as well. No problems there. And then I tried the key to manually lock and unlock the glove box - no go here. So I went back inside and told Liran and he quickly fixed the issue. Once I was satisfied with my new key fobs, then I proceeded to pay for programming and cutting. After everything's said and done, I have two spare key fobs for less than the cost of one from the dealership!! So if you're in need of an excellent locksmith, definitely give Howard Lock & Safe a chance to compete for your business. I'm definitely glad I did.

Excellent service!! This is my first time to use Howard Safe & Lock because of good Yelp reviews. I had trouble to open my safe at home. I called to schedule a service, but the technician called me back. He patiently talked me through on the phone and instructed me to change brand new batteries and try again. I tried and it worked!! Howard Safe & Lock was nothing short of top of the line service. I called on Sunday when they weren't even supposed to be open and he came and opened up for and and cut both of my keys for my car and a great price, it was fast, easy, and very affordable. If I ever need keys or locks, this is the place I'm coming to! read more

First...never ever ever lose the only key to your mailbox in a subdivision central mailbox unit! Oh my goodness. But, if you do suffer from that, the folks at Howard Safe and Lock need to be your first and only call. Mor made two visits, worked with the USPS to get a replacement lock at a very fair price and spent a fair amount of time in the hot sun. Before he left, he made me demonstrate that I understood how best to get the key to work in the lock! Suffice it to say one of the three keys he gave me is now on my key ring and the other two are definitely accounted for! read more

Someone told me about this place when I was at the hardware store discussing a problem using my key to open my truck tailgate. The dealership wanted too much money to correct the problem. Mr. Mor Vidal at Howard Safe & Lock Company was quick and repaired it very quickly. Mr. Mor Vidal is a licensed Locksmith. I met another locksmith, David, who was Just as polite and professional as Mr. Vidal. Mr. Mor Vidal was more than fair on the price (which was nothing near what the dealership wanted to charge). They are located on 826 E. 14th ST. and North Main Street, a little off N. Main Street. I drove slowly so I didn't pass it up. I will surely call Howard Safe & Lock Company for all my locksmith needs. Thank You. read more

Originally known as Howards Key and Bicycle. Uncle Howard Yetter opened the doors in 1946. His nephew Roy Yetter, began working for his Uncle at an early age and eventually Roy took over the family business from his uncle and the company began focusing on locksmithing and safe services and changed the name to Howard Safe and Lock Co. Today the shop is serving the greater height and surrounding Houston area with all your residential, commercial, and automotive locksmith needs, as well as providing many safe services. We service our customers in our shop and we also provide a mobile service for emergency and non-emergency needs. We sell new and used safes in our showroom, and if you don't see what you want we can special order one for you. We also sell high security lock and provide key duplicates for over 1,000 different key blanks, along with many other security items. We are open 9:00 am - 6:00 pm Monday through Friday. I recently moved to a different neighborhood in the Heights, and was in need of a new deadbolt for the door to my house. After settling in, items would disappear from my house. My best guess was that during the move,somebody made a copy of the key to the deadbolt, and was sneaking in while I was away. Unfortunately, I had almost no money. I combination of the move,and several other issues, had almost completely tapped me financially. After asking around, the consensus seems to be that Howard Safe and Lock would be the best place to go for a good deadbolt. I walked into Howard Safe and lLock with $15 in my pocket, knowing that I would probably not come out of there with anything that will secure my door. After listening to my story, and seeing how distraught I was over not having a secure home, the people at Howard Safe and Lock helped me out with a new deadbolt, using the money that I had. I'm quite sure they took a loss on it, but they were truly concerned about my situation. These are good people, and they actually care. I find that to be a rarity these days. And, if I understand correctly, they are responsible for the locks at the Museum of Fine Arts Houston, so, I would add "trustworthy" to their description. The people at Howard Safe and Lock are courteous and professional, and I highly recommend using them. Even if you have to pass up a locksmith that is closer to you, it will be worth it to know that your needs will be met by courteous, caring professionals, at a fair price. read more

I could not of had a better experience with Howard Safe and Lock. I am a huge over thinker and I panic when things go wrong. The technician who came out was so nice, first he assured me everything was going to be ok, he then very promptly and professionally rekeyed my lock on my condo. The price was a little more than what I wanted to pay but I got quick excellent quality service. I am a firm believer in you get what you pay for. You want great service then the little bit of extra cost is well worth it. I had an electronic front door lock that was malfunctioning. After two other companies declined to look at it, Daniel came to my rescue!
