Hidden extra fees that add up quickly. I paid in full for 2 kids. $1730.00 Had an apointment that they say they came to my house. They claim to have text my son. But they can't provide the text. I would not recommend Howe Driving School. We were told to arrive at 8:55am for my daughter's driving test. She had to wait 5 hours for the test. She passed, but I wanted a refund of the $100 test fee for having to wait so long. Lynn, the owner, told me that she "DIDN'T GIVE A FU*K" and I wasn't getting a refund. Then she yelled about how long she's been in business. They had 18 kids scheduled for tests at $100 each and only one tester. read more

At first the school seems to be professional but then you go there in person to meet the receptionist who is a very very rude lady . She gets upset when you ask her questions even though she wants you to pay almost $400 for your child to go there. I wanted to know what I was getting for my money and she seem bothered that I asked. She seems irritated to answer questions. When class starts she walks in and out to go answer the phone and kids are scared to ask her anything because of her attitude. I live maybe 3-4 blocks away from school. I rather drive 20-30 to a different location for better customer service and just some human decency. While the kids or leaning lessons , you can go in and out kids go to the store across the street. they watch old outdated driving videos, When you call them it takes hours or days for them to get back to you . And of course the receptionist act like you are intruding on her day like that's not her job. So today my daughter was supposed to get her drivers license , the people from the school never showed up we called repeatedly nobody ever answered I would not recommend the school to anyone not even my enemy read more

Time for howe driving school to pull over to the side of the road, park the car and just walk away. They will teach your child how to pass the test, nothing more. When I asked about taking my child on I-95, I was told they don't do that. What? We live in Stratford, next to a major highway, and the driving school doesn't take them on it. read more

My daughter took driving lessons through Howe in 2017. I called today to get a copy of the certificate. The Owner, Lynn, would NOT give me a copy of it. She said "you don't need it, your daughter got her license". I told her I needed it for the insurance company and she would not issue a copy of the certificate. The woman who schedules lessons for the Stratford area is SO NASTY. Her general demeanor lacks customer service which is disappointing considering I received my 8-hour certification and took 2 lessons. I called to get an estimate and maybe book a car for my road test and she was really unpleasant and this was not the first occasion. Additionally, the instructor I have had the past 2x was not bad, but he is aggressive in his teaching borderline cynical and bashes past students while your driving. Note to her: To keep customers you have to exhibit customer service or they obviously won't spend their money there. read more

I regret going here because I feel I have not learned enough. It gets the job done, depending on what kind of job you are talking about. It does not seem like Howe driving school really helps prepare students for the road, paper wise. There are no formal tests here, no assignments and almost the entire classroom time is devoted to watching boring videos. They don't teach much about car maintenance and claim the parents are responsible for that (though my parents paid 700 dollars for this school, so one would expect more responsibility on the school's end). They did not teach me how to parallel park while I was behind the wheel under their instruction. That is not on their repertoire. However, that knowledge is essential if you want to pass the DMV test. The Howe sponsored test is significantly easier than the Bridgeport DMV test (no parallel parking required), but you have to pay almost double to take the Howe test. If you want to get a thorough and complete driving education do not come here. If you just want insurance discounts, and you don't really care about learning, then by all means this place fulfills those needs. 2 of my brothers went to Knepler, and I went to Howe. The classes are fine, but only help to pass the DMV test. Instructors: Ed doesn't give a crap but is nice enough and Sam just pontificates about how much life sucks the whole time. As for lessons, I had Bob. He's a special one: (unhelpful, really impatient, pretentious and type A i.e. NOT HELPFUL FOR YOU KNOW... DRIVING). They still use tapes for videos (ugh) but the best thing about the school is the secretary Lynn. She's sweet and actually does her job good. read more
