I wished I would've read Yelp. I would've NEVER taken my brother's car there. I called and talked with Chris Howell(owner)my brother played basketball with him..small gas station that does auto repairs about repairing my brother's car (exhaust system) Took car in 10/30/23 and and looked at it..He quoted me $400 and said think about it and let him know. Week went by and took it in on Monday 11/6/23 and my brother was told 400 everything included in front of his workers..maybe for except for taxes. bring it back Tuesday 11/7/23 Took it in Tues Morning and Chris was out all morning. I wanted to talk with him before repair. I got a call from chris saying the car was repaired and it was $472 far from 400 + taxes maybe 422.00 so where did an extra $50 come from???? I think it's very inappropiate and extremely unprefessional to quote someone and say it's all included and then find out from the bill it was an additional $50. If you have been in business for years one should know what it's going to be charged or within $20. I ask a lady there to have Chris call me to talk about the bill...I never got a call back. It shows how unimportant customers become once he has your money. I think this was very bad business like and I just hope his work is as good as what he charged. Relationships are built on HONESTY !! NOT changing your mind when creating the bill. Thinking about getting it inspected by a "Certified" mechanic. Be warned.... know exactly what your going to be charged from this station!!!! get in writing!!! Karma always comes back around !!!!!!! Hope people reads this review.I wished I wouldvd read more

i live in manassas va , my wife was traveling alone she had a flat tire ,i called them to ask them if they had any used tires , very nice young lady answer the phone and took down my information so she could call me bqck to see if they had that tire available , 15 minutes passed and called me back to let me know they had my size , i sent my wife with my kids there , as soon as she got there was very helpful & great tire , and it took no longer than 20 minutes to get them safely back on the road ! my wife did not have to ask the mechanic to put her spare back where it was , he did it right after replacing the tire ...... i would recommend this place to anyone in need of help sometimes small businesses are the best may god bless them read more

Dear Yelp Community, Had to share my "NO STAR" experience with this company's owner so that you can understand what you may be in for if you decide to use their services. Howell Sunoco was dispatched on a service call Sat. July 16th to put air in a tire on our vehicle. Chris Howell, the proud owner, came out to perform the "air in the tire" service task. Chris decided he would jack up the vehicle without any permission and assess the condition of the tires. He tells our rep that we "desperately" need 2 tires & in his professional opinion, she won't make it 50 miles to get home. Of course he can sell her 2 used tires for $150.00. I get on the phone with Chris and ask why my vehicle is jacked up without permission? His answer is I need 2 tires right now. "Thanks Chris, not interested, just need air in 1 tire". Chris was irate that we refused his offer and professional expertise. Now he demands $25.00 to drop the vehicle. Our rep who was driving the vehicle said she didn't have $25.00 but she did have a twenty. He took it, dropped the vehicle and left. Left WITHOUT even putting air in the tire! This was the sole purpose of the service call. Not even a receipt for the so called service call. Chris is a predator trying to scare people into purchasing items from him. He went on a rant to our rep on how we don't care about her life and she is going to die if she drives our vehicle home that night. FYI - Our rep drove 20+ miles on low air to finally get air in it and made it all the way home, then made it all the way to our shop (40 more miles), and then 4 days later made it to the tire shop to replace all 4 tires. Today I called Howell Sunoco and left a message to speak with the owner about the incident. He quickly returned my call and immediately went 0 to 60 on the same rant about his professional opinions, blah, blah, blah and ended with "I need to get my head out of my ass" before he hung up. All I was able to say was "Hi this is Derek" when i picked up the phone and somewhere in the middle when he gasped for a breath of air, i managed to squeeze out "Are You The Owner"?. Afterwards, I called and spoke to the Cumberland Police Dept.. They agreed this encounter was wrong on many levels but unfortunately doesn't rise to a criminal level. It is perfectly clear there can be no meaningful dialog exchanged with this business owner, therefore, I am taking his advice and putting this in writing. I'm not impressed with his professional opinions and rants that proved to be wrong, rather, the only issue is being charged $20.00 for a service that wasn't rendered!!! Dear Chris Howell, You were called to inflate a tire, received payment to inflate a tire and never inflated the tire. This is obviously why you didn't offer a receipt for inflating a tire. It appears she only paid you $20.00 to listen to how she would be dying that night at the hands of her diabolical bosses because we wouldn't buy 2 used tires from you! If you were truly concerned with her safety, you would have put air in the tire to increase her chances of survival. I AM RESPECTFULLY REQUESTING THAT GIRLS $20.00 BACK CHRIS HOWELL, owner of Howell Sunoco. I wonder what your reaction would be if someone did this to your mother, daughter, sister or wife? You are certainly entitled to your professional opinions & unprofessional behavior. I am equally entitled to share them publicly. Now everyone who finds this post can see just how deeper you are willing to dig this ridiculous hole. You were wrong Chris, with how you handled both the service call and the phone call. Just own it, apologize, send a $20.00 check & move on. It is being turned over to a district manager and awaiting a response. 8/1/16 - Followed up with corporate as we haven't heard a response from the Sunoco District Manager (Joseph Antonelli). Was told we should hear back from him today. 8/2/16 - 11th day since contacting Sunoco corporate. No response from Mr. Antonelli yesterday so we called requesting the matter be escalated to his boss Dan Moore, Regional Manager. read more

We were traveling and had a tire warning, pulled into the Sunoco Station and the Owner was VERY helpful - located the problem, plugged the tire and charged a reasonable price. He could have easily gouged the tourist and did not. Provided directions. Was professional and helpful . His pride in his business very apparent! Thank you Chris!! read more

Howell Sunoco (formally Wayne's Gulf) just off the downtown exit is always the place I take my car for general maintenance. I just drop it off and he usually calls a little while later to let me know it is ready. I work close by. Everyone hates to change the bulbs in the kind of car i drive but when a headlight or tail light's out, I know just who to take it to. Chris will take the time no matter how long it takes and does not overcharge to do it. I also use their automatic car wash...it's a decent price and does a very good job. Howell's Sunoco offers fresh pastries and coffee and also has a very nice selection of quality wines and ice cold beer to go. I would recommend them for tire service, oil changes, brakes and general maintenance. read more
