I left my rifle there for about 10 days, and he went through it, repairing the rear peep sight, and the magazine feeding tube (which was bent, and non functional). This is definitely a gun club and not your average Joe shooting range. I visited this place with my…read morehubby and toddler today to sign up for a membership and complete a facility tour/safety briefing. All I can say is WOW!!! Between the ample shooting bays, the large classrooms, a seating area for dining, an outdoor area to barbecue food, access to the kitchen stocked with beverages available for purchase, the comprehensive safety features of the 400 yard rifle range, I can go on and on about this place. I also must mention that this range is kept so neat, clean, and orderly, which is super important for firearms safety. As for range staff, Chief Firearms Instructor George Howley is probably the friendliest Firearms Instructor I've ever met, and I have many years of shooting instruction and classes under my gun belt. The fact that shooting legend Massad Ayoob taught at this facility last week with George as his safety officer speaks volumes about both the facility and George. My only regret with FRGC is not signing up sooner as memberships run from January to January. But needless to say, we will definitely be renewing come January!!

There's really not much else to do in this area so I figured I might as well attend this workshop. Malia, the class coordinator, was flexible about letting me register at literally the last minute to take this class with my friends. I have to admit, I was pleasantly surprised at how well the class was designed. The brief lecture was far from boring, the instructor, Chris was very thorough and seemed to be an expert on the subject matter. Don't get me wrong - its a long course - almost 4 and a half hours long - but Chris is a very efficient, patient and thorough instructor. I honestly did not realize how quickly time passed because the material content and his presentation/delivery techniques made the material easy to grasp and understand. I especially liked how he tailored his content to both audiences who have been around and using guns all their lives - to those with limited exposure to them - myself being in the latter group. What I really appreciate about Chris's class is how much emphasis he places on safety and awareness - I think that alone shows the level of respect Chris has for an subject area that has drawn countless debates. I highly recommend taking this course. Even if it may not be legal (yet) to carry in your state, the permit you do end up getting is valid in nearly half the US. In addition, the level of knowledge you take away from this class alone, gives you more awareness and respect for gun use/safety.
