My spinal cord was injured, and I presented her with textbook symptoms, stockings and gloves, of a spinal injury, with searing pain head to toe, worse in the extremities. She prescribed minimal medication, no pain medication, no referrals to see a specialist, no imaging studies. She said a seatbelt injury could not cause you to pass blood. It wasn't until time had passed where I could not take the pain any longer, and worsening conditions, that I demanded an MRI from this practice, and it revealed a compressed spinal cord needing immediate surgery, among other surgeries needed. It wasn't until I demanded to see a neurologist and neurosurgeon to interpret the results, which saved me from living in a wheelchair. She needs to go back to medical school and put the lipstick away. Dr. McElwain was just as bad as a doctor. He is good for basic medicine but not knowledgeable in trauma cases. This practice is a big failure.

I've tried many times to make an appointment when I am sick or in need of a doctor only to be met with a voicemail or being told there are no appointments for weeks. I feel the receptionists are the weak link here. If you ever do get to see the doctor, they are mostly competent. Just hope that you don't need to deal with the receptionist any longer than necessary. I have been unable to get prescriptions refilled, medical records, appointments made. I wholeheartedly do not recommend this place to anyone. Luckily I have decent medical coverage from my job and I am able to go elsewhere. However it is pathetic that this place considers themselves a doctor's office that helps people, since I have rarely received help here.

Now I have a son that used to go there and got treated for cancer who had a horrifying experience. He was kicked out of the hospital with the IV and catherer on him. He was discriminated on. Up to this day, he doesn't know why they did it. I know his girlfriend was there that day and they were having a loud conversation, nurses and security guard got into their business and wrongfully kicked him out knowing he was on strong medication and couldn't come out of there. They also used him as a guinea pig feeding him with hopes that he was gonna get better and he never did. The last thing that happened was they ignored a back pain he was having they kept telling him it was all in his head. Four months later, his spine broke because they did not take the proper care to look into the pain he was having. Finally I called 911 one day I went to his house because his girlfriend abandoned confined to a bed with his four children. He was taken to Jean's hospital and did all type of test and finally found out he had a cancerous tumors on his spine and from there he kept going down the hill until he pass away. Elca was thorough, organized, asked me questions about my insurance to confirm information and was a great stick. She was pleasant, she was quick. This department is not always as efficient as I frequently have blood work done here and there are often long waits, lulls in taking patients back and slow and poor sticks. that was not the case with Elca. She and the young lady working the window today were very helpful and efficient.

I was seen by a doctor and tended to by a nurse. Approximately three hours later after waiting in that room, I was told that I needed to stay overnight for observation. I had some questions about things that need to be done in my home if, I would get my meds and if I could get some food. I was reassured twice by the doctor and the nurse that I would be getting something to eat & my meds. I wasn't taken up to the observation room until 8:30 PM. At no point between the time arrived and that time was I offered any water any type of snack etc. The nurse attending to me in the observation room told me he thought he might have some meatloaf or turkey. I told him I don't want the meatloaf maybe the turkey, then he said I don't think you really want it. I'm guessing it wasn't fresh. Wasn't until around 8 o'clock the next morning that I was actually bought some food making it 24 hours since I had any food in me. The hospitalist Dr.Lacombe came to see me shortly there after. She wrongly stated that I was taking metoprolol for anxiety, which I wasn't. She said I would have to contact my PCP to get a new anxiety medication and then I should stop the metoprolol immediately and double up on the lisinopril. My PCP, Dr. Charles Wasserman confirmed that. I have tried to get that wrong information regarding my discharge notes to be corrected. I have spoken to Amy in Jeanes Advocacy who referred me to write a letter to Nora Mcann, which I did, but I haven't heard anything back yet.

Is this the SAME machines you used on me and couldn't find anything which led you to say " no suspicious findings". Want to schedule fast too. At 5 weeks out, you will get the same findings only difference you just exposed me to more radiation. I have never experienced this in my adult life as a woman. Mind you, I had additional testing with my mammogram and they can't tell me what's going. Save your peace of mind, go somewhere else. I'm going to get a second opinion at my former hospital.

I think once your in their computer system the registration is pretty simple. You would just need your prescription from your doctor and insurance information. I'm sure no one likes to get a mammogram, but compared to a lot of other things I've gotten done, it's relatively easy. It only takes about 15-20 minutes. They still have the Covid restrictions in place and its always nice and clean. Also, I never have a long wait after the registration is done. I would highly recommend Solis Mammography at Einstein's Elkins Park.

Beware hidden agendas, lack of medical knowledge, and misdiagnosed treatment. The physical therapy unit can do good work, however, they are part of the one-star rating. Employees and people continue to smoke right next to the No Smoking signs and nothing is ever enforced about it. There is racism there, in that one of the black employees in a tan uniform loudly verbalized "honkey" to me as she was passing me on the campus and looking at me directly in the eye while on her phone. The place is more dumpish and old, and the employee/clientele look and act straight out of the ghetto. Maybe this is why the medical staff are sub-par and useless. They would not know what a real medical crises case is if it hit them in the face. Find your medical treatment elsewhere and don't believe the glamorous advertising campaign. Yelp software is hiding this review.

We actually left the hospital feeling much happier than before we went in. It's rare that you run into people doing their jobs that make you feel so happy these days (which is a shame...) but the staff at Elkins Park Hospital are the best! :)
