In all honesty, I do not like many aspects of HSBC and their requirements to get a decent APY. However, I also understand their advantages in terms of international transactions. I needed to close some accounts for a variety of personal reasons, and Halina could not have been more helpful, cultured, cultivated and delightful in her conversation. I will come back to the bank on my own terms when I am able to reconcile finances to abide some requirements which I still insist are inconvenient. This is probably the busiest branch in the entire borough of Queens. At any given time the lines during the day will have about 15-20 customers waiting. Yet all these years this branch still refuses to add more tellers during peak times. There could be 20 customers waiting and there would be two tellers that are working at a snail's pace. After a seek preview at nearby competitor Citibank (diagonally across the street with a massive gargantuan line for ATM access as well as customer service), I opt the short cut at HSBC. (I believe Citibank were distributing free Hung4 Baau1 for the upcoming Lunar New Year 4708). The staff is multi-ligual proficient in English, Cantonese, and Mandarin to serve the Chinese community of Flushing. Long live Cantonese indeed! I rate this HSBC location three stars as clients must bypass customer service and teller service in order to utlize the ATM machines which the layout is very odd. Zero star！Nightmare! I used to be their Primer client few years ago. For their attitude and horrible customer services I closed my account and left. Some how early this year I received a flyer with attractive Saving Rates so it brings me back to banking with them again! Now, it just reminded me AGAIN how terrible their services is!!! Nightmare! I had two wire transfers made by myself from Chase online, 2 transfers were made. One was received in the same day. The second one was missing till now, 7 days now. After numerous phone calls to Primer hotline and to my Personal bank manager Anna at 39-10 Main Street Flushing, everyone was saying at first they NEVER received my wire. After providing them "FED reference number" that Chase Bank proved this amount was successfully sent, they saying that unfortunately they don't know what happened but all I can do is waiting... I asked to speak to their "Wire Room" the answer is"NO" I can not! They do not speak to their client directly regarding wire issues. So I speak to the hotline representative, all they say is sorry they will do investigation and call back?! I asked them to reject this wire? Because I was clearly told by Chase bank wire department that they are no longer be able to recall this act since the $$$$$ was successfully sent to them!!!! Omg~~~ I'm stocked and helpless.... Terrible service. Dirty premises. The staff has no pride about working at this place. Premises are dusty and there is a good amount of littered paper around the place. The hours are ridiculous. Was poorly greeted. Tried to explain that we were here to close all accounts. Was not even sitted at one of the booths. Had to stand at the "greeting" desk while some lady typed in some personal information that anyone could see. She sent me to the cashier booth in the back to make sure that there were no outstanding charges. She said it would be simple. The first cashier lady was not able to produce a bank check. So she sent us to the over next to her. There's no privacy and you can't really hear whatever the cashier is saying, so I'm just here yelling out what I need through this thick ass glass barrier. Lame. Place your money elsewhere. This place reeks of gross bureaucracy. This would not be happening at Chase - and even if it was ... at least Chase has coffee and lollipops. read more

I never wrote any reviews before . This HSBC service is terrible. It is located in downtown Flushing , but most representatives do not speak bilinguals plus the attitude is very rude. The customers are blocking in the waiting room with no one in the front most of the time. They do not have check in system for client to get the numbers in order to be served in order. The representatives seem like not caring about customers at all. I have been waiting here for more than an hour now. What I hear is same as what I feel ---terrible service , need to change to other banks. I strongly agree on it read more

I would give zero stars if I could. It was about 3 years ago that I closed an account here and they somehow messed it up. The guy who did it was confused and apparently in a hurry. The updated two stars is attributed to the very bad service to the mediocre I've received from financial advisors. (Front desk lady is awesome). First off, they advise less and manipulate more. They care less about your financial situation and more about selling. In the end, they'll stub you if you don't understand finance as much as them. It was so hard for me to get in touch with them that liquidating my CD was harder than it sounds. This whole experience has me so done with HSBC. Worst HSBC branch I've ever been to. I normally go on Saturdays to deposit money and they usually have ONE single teller working. Sometimes they'll have two. The lines are ALWAYS ridiculously long and the managers, even seeing these long lines, never step behind the counter to help out. I was so fed up one day with the single teller that I asked the manager, who was walking around jiggling his keys and making photo copies, why they only have one teller on a busy weekend and his response was go use the ATM. I hope this whole place is replaced by ATMs so this arrogant flippant a-hole manager will be out a job seeing as how they're closing down most locations. read more

STAY AWAY!! Yelp doesn't allow me to give zero stars so hence the 1 star review. This branch has the worst customer service and wait time. You can have 15 people waiting on line, but only 2 tellers working at extremely slow pace. Be prepared to wait 30-45mins for any simple transactions. Management does not seem to care about the long wait or the availability of ATM machines. A few times the ATMs aren't even working properly (i.e. 2 out of the 4 machines out of service). Also don't even bother asking the people at this branch about anything related to the ATMs, you just get told to call the general number on the back of your debit card as according to one of the ladies I spoke to "sorry, nothing we can do". That was the response I got when something went wrong with my ATM transaction. The people sitting at the desks also have a very dismissive and impatient attitude. I've noticed on many occasions where they just tell customers to call the general HSBC number instead of answering or even trying to help complete the inquiry. I had no choice but to visit this branch as this is the only branch within Main Street. I don't know why but I can't deposit money at the ATM. I can't explain it but I can't trust it even though it gives you a receipt. I feel like it will suck up my money and not give me the receipt. Anyway, this branch is always packed. At least a 10 min wait here. There are a few atms here so withdrawing is a cinch. I hate this branch but I keep going back. Why is that? We tried to get a mortgage for a coop. HSBC initially agreed on a lower rate but then as they go thru the paperwork; they decided to offer a loan still but with a much higher rate. The rate difference was 0.55% for a 30 year loan. Their reason was the coop that we were going to purchase requires an occupant renewal every two years. We were frustrated with them and decided to take the loan to Chase instead. HSBC didn't exactly quite lose out because we had to pay them a non-refundable application fee of $400! The process also costs us time, a 3 week delay to closing. It was a very unsatisfactory experience. read more

This bank totally sucks...went there for name change and address change on my credit card account...the representative was not helpful at all...told customer to call main office to change address on ourselves...they didn't even know where to fax the documents...ask customer to get the fax number from main office which they only do name change by mail...what's the point for customer to go branch for!!?? Not a pleasant experience at this location. I have been their customer for twenty years. Opened multiple accounts here. Today I need to sent money to my aunt in Japan for her medical treatment, kind of emergency. I did this last year, without any problem. And I brought the paper work for last year with me. But they refused to do it today, citing that their manage was not in. They insisted that I should come back on Monday (without telling me that I can do it in any other branches). Nothing they can do today. I explained to them that it's urgent. But the two tellers just didn't care. Bad attitude, rude. People already told me that this branch mainly care for the rich from mainland China. In fact, a glass door was installed last year, divide the branch into two half. Half of the branch is out of limit to regular customer. The space for day to day transaction becomes so cluster and dark. I was disappointed. After talking to a friend, she informed me that there was another branch at 4177 Kissena Blvd. So I went straight to that one. And Walter finished the transaction for me in ten minutes, with clear explanation. I can't thank him enough for this. The kissena branch has much bigger space, better customer service (they had smile on their faces). Two star for the past twenty service. But I won't go back to this branch. read more
