Yet another Nationwide where you queue for waht seems like an absolute age!…read more I really like Nationwide and like to bank here but i do wish they would do something about the number of staff they have serving customers as i know of only one essex branch where queues are not extensive!! That aside, i have always found staff in this branch to be friendly and helpful and apologetic about the wait :0)
NatWest
I have to do my work banking here and I wish I didnt. Some of the counter staff are so miserable!…read moreYou quite often have to queue for ages, and then to get to the counter and have to speak to them can be so horrible. They make you feel like you don't deserve to be there, and if you dare get anything wrong then it's like being told off at school! I would never have my personal accounts with Natwest, just because I would hate to have to go in that branch any more than necessary. Sort it out Natwest!! Note to staff: get a job you ENJOY!!

They are in a little room off to one side of the bank. Therefore you don't have to stand out in the cold and it is more private. During the day, there is easy access to the room. Outside bank hours, you need to use your card to access the room. This again helps with privacy and misuse of the room. You can go and see their financial advisors to discuss mortgages, loans etc.

The staff are friendly but there always seems to be long queues. The shortest waiting time I've ever had in the queue was 10 minutes. The staff are very strict on the banks ID policy even to the point that they were unwilling to allow a withrawal from my account with my own debit card. The signature strip was slightly worn (all that shopping!) Eventually they accepted other forms of ID but made me feel like they were doing me a huge favour - well at least I can feel safe in the knowledge that my money is being looked after! :0)

Sadly, the queus are still as long (in spite of most staff doing thier est to keep things moving)..... it's a shame really that the money spent on refurbishing wasn't used to employ more staff during peak times. In spite of al the self service paying in and withdrawel machines (aka holes in the wall!!!) there are still times when you need to go to the cashier. I love the fact that this is a bank that used to be a pub, when usually it is the other way round. One extra tip: metro bank prints your bank card right there in the branch.
