We basically sat there waiting for some direction while watching the staff figure out who was going to help us. The lounge itself was also much smaller than I expected, and the service--especially toward the back of the lounge--was pretty nonexistent. We actually already had access to the American Airlines lounge but decided to pay extra for The Grand Lounge because we thought it would be a better experience. Unfortunately, I regret spending the extra money. If you do decide to come here, double-check exactly which lounge you're booking. Apparently, the space-themed lounge/area needs to be reserved in advance, otherwise you may end up in the regular lounge toward the back like we did. Overall, the experience was extremely underwhelming for something we specifically paid to upgrade to. Save your money and choose a different lounge.

Our host was lovely and served us delicious coffee and snacks. We lounged and enjoyed the ambiance for 20 minutes before we had to head to our gate. I was here at 5 AM and without any natural light, the lounge was pretty dark--but maybe that was better since it was so early anyway. The lounge is always filled with people, and outside there's always a crowd of people waiting to get in. During my most recent visit today, I waited a little bit over an hour to get in. You can only start being on the waitlist 3 hours before your AM flight. To kill some time I went to the VIP lounge across the hall, where the wait was substantially less. I imagine that most people at La Terraza stay here for a while, while VIP lounge people come and go. Like other reviewers mentioned, there's not much food or drinks available for self serve. There's usually tortilla chips and different salsas where you can make chilaquiles. There's some chips, peanuts.. typical bar food, fitting since La Terraza does give off bar vibes. However, if you ask the staff, they'll usually have more items available in the kitchen. In terms of drinks, in self serve area, there isn't much either besides water, soft drinks, coconut water, electrolyte water, non alcoholic beer. All the alcoholic beverages will be ordered by staff/servers or at the bar! For now, this will do until the new AM lounge opens up. La Terraza will remind very crowded until then. Not the best place to "relax" before a flight. No bueno.

Walking into the space the kitchen and bathrooms are to the left, a bar straight back against the far wall with maybe half a dozen tables in between. To the right about a 20 tables are placed on a split-level section under a covered rooftop open so all have views out over Templo Mayor. Retractable outdoor blinds line the edges of the rooftop to protect from inclement weather. Arriving at around 2pm, the restaurant was about 50% full though almost all the tables closer to the view overlooking Templo Mayor were occupied. The staff were courteous and professional, quickly providing menus and coming back to check on us. We ordered: - Conga (pineapple, orange and coconut with granedine) $55*: refreshing citrusy juice in combination mentioned, not too sweet which I was glad for. - Mexican craft beer Tempus doble malta $90: cool, dark and malty, though not too heavy for a warm afternoon. - Tortilla soup with tomato, panela cheese, tortilla julienne chips, avocado, pasilla chili, and epazote leaf $155: tasty! Flavorful and brought a kick with the chili spice, pretty mild though. Nice crunch from the fried tortilla strips. - Xochitl broth (chicken broth with "pico de gallo", rice, shredded chicken and chicharron (fried pork skin) $140: light broth with full chicken flavor, crunch from the chicharron. Would recommend. - Steak tips (180 grs) tacos with nopales (cactus pads) (3 pieces) $195: decent, good with the salsa. - Cochinita pibil burritos (4 pieces) $185: didn't expect these to be deep fried, flavor was ok though not sure I'd recommend these, - Rice with mole sauce $85: really tasty, we didn't leave a grain of rice! AeroMexico is one of the better options as far as airlines go in Mexico. They are a step up from…read moreVolaris and from VivaAerobus. This particular time, I was flying from Mexico City's Benito Juarez Int'l Airport (AIFA). The places for AeroMexico are overall nicer, clean, more spacious, and more efficient. The extra cost is well worth the added comfort that this airline provides compared to the other two. Every time I've flown AeroMexico, the flights have been on time, and the arrivals the same of slightly earlier. Check in and boarding are never an issue, and the staff is always nice and helpful. I recommend getting SkyPriority. Travelling is tiring as it is, make it a comfortable journey. As far as everything else, I'd recommend planning on getting to the airport 3 hours before the flight, which can account for traffic as well as give you some time to get a meal in before the flight. If you're looking to fly in comfort when travelling Mexico, I recommend AeroMexico.
