I had everything ready and my personal transaction only took about three minutes, but the line was, as usual, out to the door with only one person working the counter. I can't remember going in there in the past couple of years and not waiting in a long line. To be fair, the guy working the counter was polite and knew what he was doing.... he just needed more help to keep up with the amount of waiting customers. I think driving to the Fairborn post office and back would actually be quicker (and more pleasant) than waiting in line here.

So we packed up the car and came here ASAP. This park will be great to visit when it's officially warm. The jungle gym has three sections for three different age groups, which is awesome! You don't have to worry about the little ones getting run over by the bigger kids. They also have a little warmer park/sprinkler section that is fenced off and will be open when summer comes. Lastly, there's an amphitheater. I'm hoping there will be concerts there this summer. The trail I mentioned goes on to Wegerzyn Park. I think it's about a five minute bike ride or a 15-20 minute walk.

After many weeks of self quarantine I was so excited to be spending a few days up in Dayton. My first impression of @islandmetropark was it's large size and many paved trails that are great for hiking, walking, running and bike riding. These trails traverse across large open fields of grass past trees, soccer fields, tennis courts, jungle jims & swing sets. Unfortunately the swing sets and jungle jims were closed to people due to the covid-19 pandemic. My grandson's favorite trail took us across a small suspension bridge over a river where people can frequently be seen kayaking. He also enjoys playing on the river bank close, to where the roadway passes by the park. The day we were there the park staff was very busy working on the park landscaping and we saw geese that my grandson wanted to chase. My daughter likes that the paved trails are great to use when it's been raining. My grandson loves to run and play in the fields of grass. It's a city within a city. Churches, grocery, airport, restaurants, gas stations, gyms, hospital,…read more and even a "Mayor" in the form of a base commander. It's also Ohio's largest single site employer. And the economic impact is huge. Having the Air Force Materiel Command MAJCOM is a bonus as well. Missions encompass Science and Technology, foreign military sales, security,. Acquisition and so much more. Even education at the Air Force Institute of Technology. Several times it's been voted the number one military base in the country. I agree. So do many others which makes the Dayron Region a favorite place to retire with so much support here and a great economic level of living. Be both respectful and grateful to have WPAFB as a member of this great community. This would be a great place to start the cheesy patriotic music....
