Dr. Hubert Chow has been my primary care physician for over ten years and he has always proved himself to be highly professional and also very concerned with my overall well being. Whenever I have required a specialist referral, he has always approved an authorization in a very prompt manner. This is the most unprofessional doctor's office I've ever been to. For one of my telehealth appointments, the doctor showed up 90 minutes late. He was in a rush and didn't really listen to me describe my symptoms. He hurriedly prescribed me some medicine and let me go. I went to an Urgent Care specialist, and it turns out he misdiagnosed me and prescribed me the wrong medicine. A separate time, I scheduled a physical exam, but the doctor canceled the appointment without telling me. When I drove to the doctor's office, the receptionist told me that the physical exam was done at the same time as my telehealth appointment. I always thought a physical exam was much more than just quickly rushing through bloodwork results, but the most important part was that they never told me my in person physical exam appointment was canceled. I drove to their office for nothing. They never apologized for their mistake and blamed it on me, and then went on to ignore me. It honestly feels really demeaning and humiliating, especially because I'm going to the doctor and trying to fix things with my health. Mistakes happen, but you don't have to be horrible people as well. read more

*BEWARE OF HUBERT CHOW AND HIS STAFF* Hubert was assigned to be my parent's PCP for the last couple of years and since then I've seen their health decline dramatically. My dad has diabetes and Hubert's solution is to have him on 13+ types of medication. Meds that have made him lose 20 lbs in 1 year, vomit after meals, have 0 appetite and no energy. When my dad tries to tell Hubert about what is going on, he gets ridiculed and scolded by this "doctor". Does Hubert send him to a specialist and/or refer him to a nutritionist even though he clearly has no idea what he is doing? NOPE. He wants to keep my dad so he can keep getting money. Sylvia is dangerous as well. I asked my parents why they have different insurance carriers and my mom told me that Sylvia (office manager?) switched my dad's insurance over to another company by herself. Like, how does that even happen?!! You don't need to be an attorney to figure out that is illegal and violates HIPPA laws. Oh, also be prepared to wait for 2+ hours for your appointment. The office schedules patients (mostly elderly) starting at 9 am but Hubert is not even in the office until at least 11am, so be prepared to sit in a run down, dinghy room with 15+ patients during a pandemic. If you care about not dying, find another doctor ASAP. read more

Very terrible costumer service. I called to make appointment for the time to this place, several times in past month either no one answered or this Lady name Monica answered it. First time she answered it took her more than 10 minutes to take my basic information ( name, birthday, phone # and id #). I know that my name wasn't easy to spell and I do have accent but I literally spelled it out for her so many times but she keep getting it wrong even my phone number. And she keep laughing and saying "I hope I get it right because we going through it so many times" and in the end she told me that she going to give me call back. I been waiting for almost 3 weeks ( I give them call twice and have no answered). Today I called them again around @1:00 p.m ish no answered and again around 3:30 ish finally they answered and the same Lady "Monica" answered my call and she asked me my basic info again we went through it for several time and I asked her if it was "Monica" she said yes. I reminded her about our last call that she told me that she will give me call back for my appointment and I don't get any call back. She told me that the front desk had some issues that time( she is the front desk person and took a not of everything). We went through the same thing again getting my name, number, id, etc. and it took longer than before. The most annoying thing is she kept laughing and saying that "hopefully she gets it right" and in the end she told me she will call me back ( this took 15 minutes ish) what a waste of my time). read more

The appointments are months out you can never get anyone on the phone. I have had appointments canceled and have shown up n they refused to see me. This place frustrates me today was the last straw, I will never come back n you shouldn't either read more

***WARNING*** Dr. Chow was my Doctor from age 8 until I was about 14 or 15. I had no issues with Dr. Chow until I entered puberty. I would HIGHLY ADVISE if you have a daughter, niece, cousin, sister, mother, aunt, do NOT let them be alone in a room with this man. He was ordered by the court in 2008 that he CANNOT be alone with any female patient and CANNOT examine female patients' breasts or rectal or vagina areas. This man has accusations dating back to 1992 of unruly behavior. There are hundreds of other doctors in the San Gabriel Valley that are most likely 1000x better than him. It has taken me years to write this review and that no one else has to experience what I did. I hope this review can save at least one person from the anguish that I endured. He is not a physician by heart! He is just out for finances ! Has you return over a year running several blood tests for the same issue that never gets resolved!!! We literally had to go to the ER for the pain and resolution which resulted in Colon canter for an issue he should have addressed! Hemoglobins were at 4 (bare minimums) Doctor said my hubby was fortunate to still be walking with close to nothing of blood in his system! Please if you are trying to live find another doctor! He is inconsiderate making you do blood work without ever checking the results , he is nothing I would recommend not even to my worst enemy since I never wish death on anyone! I agree with many of complaints before me. I love the Doctor but the people in the office is so slow in helping me with my prescriptions. Yes, Silvia can be very rude. Would highly recommend finding a doctor who doesn't practice negligence and malpractice. Not only did Dr. chow dismiss all of my concerns, he even laughed at it. I had been calling into the office to ask for an ultrasound of my kidneys for 2 months. Each time, my request would not even be considered until 2 months later when he told me to come into his office. My appointment was at 11:30, but a few days prior, I was asked to come in at 11:15. I arrived at 11:15 and waited for about 45 minutes until I asked to see how much longer it would take and the lady in the front apologized and said the doctor came in late. First of all, how are you going to book patients and then come late to your own office? I then waited another 30 minutes. I was concerned because I thought it wouldn't take long to talk to the doctor so I didn't take my antibiotics which was supposed to be taken at 12:30. I thought I would get to see him at 11:45, latest. The lady told me to go home to take my antibiotics and then come back. Secondly, How ridiculous is that?? I was already pissed and this almost pushed me to the edge. I asked that if I did that, would I see Dr. chow immediately when I got back and she said yes. I went home and came back and had to wait an additional 20 minutes. The meeting took 3 whole minutes. After the meeting, I asked him why this couldn't have been done over the phone and he said he wanted to ask me more questions. The only questions he asked me (after he laughed when looking at my file) were "what do you think they'll find from an ultrasound of your kidneys?" And when I said "kidney stones??" He immediately said "oh" like he'd never thought of reasons I would be experiencing back pain and that my concerns weren't actually a joke (who woulda thought right). He then asked "do you have a family history of kidney stones?" I said "yes" and that was literally the end of the meeting. I cannot believe I waited almost 2 hours for a 3 minute meeting that could've EASILY been done over the phone. I was livid. read more

Can I give a zero star rating? Let me preface the review with this - I signed up for Yelp just so I could write a review on this doctor's office. It's seriously that terrible. Dr. Chow is actually not that bad, but his office staff is the absolute worst. Imagine calling in for an appointment because you feel like sh*t and getting attitude from the receptionist. Imagine showing up for your appointment that you fought for over the phone, and waiting 2 hours past your appointment time. Imagine getting blood drawn by one of the nurse aids and having it hurt like hell, then having a bruise the size of an apple on your arm for 3 days. Rude and incompetent ...that about sums up my experience with the staff at this doctor's office. Needless to say, I switched MD's long ago, but as icing on the cake, I recently received a bill for an office visit from 3 YEARS AGO. Of course, I immediately called to clear up the bill, and their story kept changing, "we don't have your insurance (they did)". "We submitted the claim but it was denied" (they never submitted it). After arguing with the billing person for 15 min, she harshly assured me they would be resubmitting the claim, and I should watch out for the bill. Long story short, I'm still waiting to hear from my insurance company about the whole mess (which was not my fault)... Bottom line: STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE! read more

Silvia is the absolute worst. When I called the office to file a complaint against her, she refused to let me talk to the doctor to make the complaint. She said because we weren't patients of theirs yet, the doctor refused to speak to us. The reason why we're not patients? She outright refused to explain the forms regarding patient rights and hippa laws in the language of the patient which she is LEGALLY supposed to do. Because she refused, she and the office are BREAKING THE LAW. For all I know, she never told the doctor about my complaint and just lied to cover her ass. Either way, I'm going to file a complaint with Medi-cal and inform them of the office's illegal practices. Maybe they'll get fined and will rethink having Silvia as their office manager as she is a huge liability. read more

Dr Chow has been my parents doctors for years! He spends quality time with us whenever we have a visit. He really listens and doesn't just give them another prescription unless it's really necessary. I always ask Dr Chow lots of questions regarding whatever is best for my parents, and takes his time explaining everything I have to know. I didn't care for a previous employee Dr Chow had in the past either, but he's got three new people working in the office and all of them are very nice! I moved to Cali 3 months ago and looking for a family doctor for a physical exam. I was recommended by my health plan ins .I stopped by the office & my ins was incorrect. The front desk was asking for a help from their manager with Silvia. Finally she's the one helped me with my issues. She's very helpful and got it right! Do not go to this doctor if you need medical attention. They put you on hold on the phone for a long time and never have an appointment till at least 4 weeks out. Yet when you do go in to the clinic, there are no patients and hardly any ongoing activity. I don't think they are seriously interested in providing any care. read more

I would like to say that Dr. Chow has been my doctor for over 10 yrs. He is a wonderful physician. He listens and makes sure he helps in anyway possible. Id like to also say that sylvia is a great person. At first when i met her i can honestly say i judged her right away. I didnt like her, but once i got to know her i realized i judged her too quick. She is actually a great loving and caring person.. and if anyone gets the job done its definetly her. She works with her patients and works on most the billing issues. I really feel she is a hard worker and a wonderful person... so for those of you that dislike her please get to know her before you judge her . I would feel lost with out her. Dr. Chow was assigned to be my mom's primary care physician at the San Gabriel Hospital. She arrived at San Gabriel Hospital emergency room having major stomach pains. My first impression of Dr. Chow is that he is one of those doctors that enjoys the occupation because of the money and not because he wants to help people. The first day he met my mom he asked her what insurance she has. Who the hell asks that question especially at the hospital? Isn't that the case manager's job? Not the Physician. Not only did we have a bad first impression of him but he also misdiagnosed my mom with Gallstones. After 3 days under his care, I had to ask on behalf of my mom to see a specialist. The specialist ended up diagnosing her with Obstruction of the Bowel Movement. I''m not a medical student nor am I part of the medical field but I knew by the second day that it wasn't Gallstones. Gallstones doesn't cause one's stomach to expand twice their size and vomitting does not become endless for 4 days. My mom ended up staying in the hospital for over a week when I know that her condition could have been solved alot sooner. Only if Dr. Chow cared enough to be proactive and make a difference. Lastly, Dr. Chow had the nerve to tell me that he might release my mom under his care because of her insurance coverage. She was undergoing tests to diagnosed his misdiagnosis of Gallstones. I strongly feel that if he did release her that she could have died because time was of essense and it would have further delayed her diagnosis and treatment. I recommend anyone that enters San Gabriel Hospital and gets assigned to Dr. Chow to reconsider and demand a new primary care physician. read more

I am a 20+ year patient of Dr. Chow. He is simply the best and most caring doctor in the world. I will go no where else. My disabled son also sees Dr. Chow who cares so much about him and his well being. The office manager Sylvia is also wonderful. She has always come through for me for any and all of my requests. Some of them very difficult because of my son's current situation. She cares deeply for both of us and I am so glad she is the office manager there. She is warm and friendly and eager to help. Dr.Chow has been my doctor and my parents doctor for over 8yrs and he is an amazing doctor!!! he takes his time with you makes sure you understand everything and that you leave his office with all the materials and information you need. Wait time is so good my appointment was at 10am and only waited about 10 min to get called in the medical assistant are really friendly actually everyone in the office is really friendly. Answers all your questions, doesn't just give you the medication over and over. I would definitely recommend this doctor to anyone especially since he works out the San Gabriel Hospital. read more

I have been going to Dr. Chows office for a long while now and Silvia has been a God-send in the face of all the changes occurring within Insurance companies. If we need something submitted.. it get submitted. If we need a referral.. we get that referral... Anything we need. Last time I had to come by to pick something up from the office, I had to leave my mom in the car because she didn't have the strength, and when Silvia saw me and found out my mom was in the car, she ran out to see her. After reading all the bad reviews i am in complete shock... My mom has been a patient of Dr. Chow's office since 2013. In the 30 years she has been living in California, she has never found a doctor so professional with great himan quality... And i can honestly say that he has made a great decision on having Sylvia as his office manager. Sylvia makes the whole office function perfectly. Words cannot explain how friendly and kind she is.. always willing to help everyone with financial and insurance problems in order to be seen by the doctor to get treated... I dont understand how someone can express themselves that way about the sweet person sylvia is... That person must be from another planet.
