I have been a patient of Dr. Chien Fang for 27 years. I needed a doctor for my son who turned 16 and could no longer see his pediatrician. She is a great and good doctor. My mom recommended Dr. Fang because her doctor at that practice was on vacation so she was seen by Dr. Fang. My mom liked her. On the first day that I called for an appointment with Dr. Chien, I asked if she was taking any new patients. They said yes, but I had to wait 2 months for my first appointment. She came highly recommended, so I was willing to wait. She rescheduled two times during that period, but I held on. Last week her office rescheduled the appointment again, " doctor not in the office" and today 3 days later, I was called and told "that she no longer is taking new patients", could I see someone else. This is the most unprofessional office I have ever dealt with. I have been waitIng to discuss my health concerns for months. No doctor who cares about their patients would ever become so complacent about their scheduling & the deferring of appointments. This reflects poor management of the office and the physician. Think twice before you choose Dr Fang Chien, don't allow yourself to become a victim of uncaring mismanagement for months. Stay away! Absolutely the worst doctor. My elderly mother was a long time patient of hers and any time I tried to talk with the doctor I was told her assistance would call me back. This would not happen. Terrible follow through. Doctor just kept pushing more meds or said my mother needed to see a psychiatrist. The only time we ever got through to Dr. Fang to talk about my mom's health was when we said it was an emergency. We finally switched doctors when my mom needed assisted living care. I'm shocked with these reviews. She's the best dr I've ever had. So caring and generous with her time. Do I have to wait a little? Yes, sometimes but it's reasonable. I haven't been to a dr where you go right in. I had to switch due to insurance changes. My 93 year old mom still goes to her. I switched my mom to her about 15 years ago. J my y mother in law loved her and would drive from san dimas saying she never had a dr listen to her like dr fang. She's 87 and doesn't drive anymore so she had to switch to a dr in San Dimas. Competence is one thing, customer service is another. Every time I visit Dr. Fang, I am left waiting in the room for 10-20 minutes before she comes to see me. On top of that, she doesn't give me the opportunity to speak, or voice my concerns. Instead, she just talks over you and as if your concerns don't matter. On top of that, she rushes through the appointment and does not address everything you went there for. Her approach doesn't come from care or concern, it comes from churning through as many people as she can. Finally, her, along with her front office require you to schedule an appointment for _every little thing_. Instead of addressing your concerns through their message system, it's always "please schedule an appointment". It's all about incentives -- my guess is that she makes more from a "10 minute" appointment than a 5 minute message response. Pathetic all around. read more

I have been a patient of Dr. Fang for close to a decade. She is friendly and pleasant. Unfortunately this may the last year. For the last couple of years my annual physical (which I make at least 3-4 months ahead) were cancelled, forcing me to reschedule to at least another 2 months later from my original appointment. Last year my original appointment was early August (cancelled), rescheduled to end of September. Today I called to make an appointment thinking it's be fine for early October. Sadly I was informed first available appointment is end of November!!!! I'm not sure if she simply has too many patients but 5 months is way too long. Another thing that always puzzles me - most of the time I make the first appointment (8:30am) yet I always end up waiting in the cold room, undressed, for a good 15-30 minutes. A awful doctor and shows little consideration on patients. I made the appointment, and was told the doctor was only able to see me four months later. I kept the appointment. On the day of seeing the doctor, I reported my minor cough symptom with COVID-19 negative to the staff. The doctor rejected seeing me. The office did not offer any email or text message based screening the day before the appointment. I am not living close, and wasted a lot of time driving back and forth. I'm not a big Yelper - but I felt so compelled to share my experience with everyone I had to share my thoughts. Dr. Fang on her own is great, she is kind and easy to talk to. HOWEVER, there are so many things that play into going to the doctor, that the actual doctor isn't the only factor. The front desk ladies are AWFUL. I have been dealing with them for over 2 years now, and have put up with them because I liked Dr. Fang. This past medical issue I had was the final straw. I had to force them to give me my information, beg them to give me phone numbers to specialists and call 3 times to leave a message for Dr. Fang to call me back - which she never did. Which I think is due to the fact that she may not have received my message from her clerks. On top of that It takes a minimum of around 2 weeks to schedule an apt with Dr. Fang, so more often than not I go see the PA which isn't that great. That's not really a good deal when you're sick or have the flue and need to see your Dr ASAP. Overall, the place is just a cold shell of a doctor's office. If you are looking to be treated like a number and shuffled thru with no concern or sympathy, by all means go see this office. I have found a new doctor and am very happy to be rid of such a stressful and unhelpful place. . read more

Dr. Fang is great, very competent - but you'll probably never know that. The wait to see her is FIVE WEEKS. According to her always rude, always condescending secretaries (Natalie? Stephanie?) that's how it will be from now on. Apparently two doctors left her office so Dr. Fang is short-staffed. But hey, don't hire a bunch of other doctors to fill the void - just lump all of those patients into Dr. Fang's rotation! The consequence is that those of us who have been with Dr. Fang for years and had no wait times can no longer get in to see her! Thanks! read more

I have been a patient of Dr. Fang for several years and she is professional, thoroughly answers patient questions. She even followed up on some test results with me on a Sunday. Dr. Fang is simply the best. I was shocked to see the low rated reviews that Dr. Fang has received on Yelp and felt compelled to read them. Okay, yeah, it is too bad that there is only one of her and because of news of a top quality health provider spreads, Dr. Fang is in high demand, and advanced planning is highly recommended (when possible). Although Dr Fang is very competent and she's the reason I've stuck around this long I have had it with this office. As of today I've officially changed doctors. The wait time to even get to see Dr Fang is two months at least however I just saw someone come in and say he had a last minute appointment with Fang that he made two days ago? So are loyal patients not considered first now? Not to mention the staff is absolutely horrendous. Each and every office staff member is rude and flat out nasty. You always feel uncomfortable with them and they actually act like you are bothering them. Every time I need a prescription called in or a referral they always claim they complete it and they never do. I normally have to call in two to three more times to get it handled. If you arrive on time for your appointment or early you will still wait at least 45 min to see anyone there. This office is so poorly run it's a shame and I can't believe something hasn't been done about this place. Been a long time patient of Dr Fang, until today. Its been real but when i had to go to urgent care and do a follow up with her, i was told i couldnt see her until september. Granted this urgent care ossue happened in june 9th. They offered another doctor in late August. Screw that! Hungtington Medical Foundation is the worst, stay away!
