A group of us went here for adult night! lol is all I can say. Definitely not for kids! We had fun on the rides. Just like when we were kids! We went on the train twice, the scrambler, the big slide. they have a little school bus there that you can go on and sit and pretend to drive. We had a couple of drinks, it was a nice summer night and this place is close enough to Lyft. DJ music all night! We had a slice of pizza, fries, tried the fried dough. It was delicious. The beer is very expensive and they poured it into what looked like a five or 6 ounce cup and it was nine dollars. You could get the same size wine for the same price or you can get a can of various flavored ciders. It didn't really make any sense and it was insanely expensive for the beer and that is my only negative feedback. Why couldn't we just get a can of beer? Brought the grandkids (and parents) on Sunday afternoon. Kids are 5 & 6 ( and another 14 month old). Got tix through our union for a nice discount -2 books of 25 tix for $50. Kids enjoyed the rides. Suitable for their age. Youngest did Like the carousel and caterpillar ride. Most of the other rides were good for 5 and 6 y/o. Spent about 3 hours there and everyone enjoyed it. Like many people of the capital region I grew up with Hoffman's Playland and I was so happy to see it continue as Huck Finn's Playland. It was a chance to see the park continue and share it with my child. However, the park has gone down hill greatly. The last few times I've gone they don't appear to have enough staff and several rides are closed each time. In July 2025 I went with my family. We were making the most of it hitting the rides we could when I got on the big Ferris wheel with my daughter. The ride went fine. When it came time to exit the employee kept pulling the car back, stopping it, pulled it back more, stopping it, etc. I thought it was weird how far the car was brought back. My daughter got up no problem but the second I stood up the car, which was not properly secured, swung out from under me, dropping my onto my right knee onto the concrete under the platform I was supposed to be on. The employees didn't help me. The one who was operating the Ferris wheel just screamed, "it swung out from under her!" But offered no assistance beyond just staring in shock. No one got a manager. No one helped me up or to walk. We spoke to a manager (after we went up on our own) and left for urgent care. Since then I've seen my doctor, a specialist and had an MRI to check the injury to make sure everything was ok and my knee had no micro tears. I've been emailing and called Huck Finn's about this hoping to get my medical bills reimbursed but no one is calling me back or emailing. I've received only silence. I wouldn't trust Huck Finn's Playland ever again. read more

Wow! This place has gone downhill. When it was in Latham it was so fun and cute, and it had a festive feel. I went to the new location a year ago, and as disappointed as I was with the location, I did try to see the bright side. The rides were mostly the same, and there were attendants at every ride. My recent experience a week or so ago was much different. It was a sunny summer afternoon and the place was all but empty. The carousel was out for repairs, so that didn't help, as it added to the lackluster ambiance. There was random pop music playing, which I found odd, rather than the usual fair type music. The worst part was that you had to find an attendant to get someone to operate a ride. There were several times that we were told, "yeah, hold on, as soon as I'm done with this ride, I will come over." What? At $45.00 for a book of tickets, I was quite surprised that we stood around half the time waiting for a ride to be operated. The whole experience was just odd, and to be honest, depressing. It is such a shame, because I think a big part of it is the horrid location. It has just turned into a glorified fairground type place, but with a premium price tag. read more

Huck Finn's Playland is iconic family fun for young children birth to 12 years old. We brought our two granddaughters ages 7 and 9. The rides are well maintained and the young people who operate the rides do a wonderful job attending to the riders and are genuinely kind to young and old alike. On Tuesdays in July and August you can purchase $20 ride bracelets, they are a great value as you can ride all day. The girls enjoyed the slide, the scrambler, paratrooper, roller coaster, tilt a whirl, 4 x 4, octopus, rock-spin-roll, the Ferris wheel and the train ride. They went on most rides more than once. I joined them on the slide, paratrooper, train ride and the Ferris wheel. Our younger granddaughter also enjoyed the new elephant ride and the Umbrella cars. We stayed for about 3 hours. Huck Finn's Playland is beautifully maintained, a bright and family friendly atmosphere. It is great that they continue to keep the Playland (three generations of our family have enjoyed these rides) going strong as it is truly a treasure of the Capital District! read more

I came here with my wife and son to ride the train and get a fried dough. It had been a while since we last rode the train... perhaps when it was still at Hoffman's. I can't remember if we rode the train after the move to Huck Finn's. Anyway, it was a pleasant train ride. Some would say "slow", but to be honest if you went fast it would be over too soon. It only runs on the top and bottom of the hour, so if you miss it you have to wait for the next one. The staff were pleasant and allowed for some nice photo opportunities of our son with the train. We were on the last ride of the day and had the entire thing to ourselves. The fried dough is unusual and I remembered that from the last visit here. It is preformed, and comes out of a freezer bag (it isn't fresh dough). As a result, it turns a bit hard and thin and crispy... not like real fried dough which is soft and chewy. But it still is fried and greasy and sugary and I like it; it just tastes more like a churro. Toppings are either powdered sugar or cinnamon sugar (no fruit toppings). The had plenty of covered picnic tables next to the train tracks to sit and eat. The prices were reasonable for a 30-40 minute diversion here. And I am glad they kept the train (actually... they have two on site!) I didn't grow up with Hoffman's, but I am starting a tradition with my new family. read more

This place is a joke! I visited Sunday because the news said refurbished rides. I was told that I wasn't allowed to ride the tilt a whirl even though the ride was running on the news! Then my kids got stuck on the roller coaster. I was told that it was because of the rain. Why run rides if they are unsafe to run? You risked my kids lifes on that thing! We couldn't even ride the merry go round because it is no longer there. If I could give zero stars, I would. Not at all like Hoffman's was. read more

It's impossible to review the current incarnation of the former Hoffman's Playland without the taint of the experience of that beloved place coloring said review. So I won't try. I will charitably start out with what's better: the bathrooms are cleaner. What's the same: ticket prices (for now). All the rides are there, except the bumper cars. OK, now that that's done with, here's what's worse. Everything's tucked into a square; there's no charm in the layout or chance to ramble a little. The location is charmless. Highway, warehouses, a tiny little wet spot. Yes, it's true Hoffman's had lost a lot of its own charm with the development around it in on Route 9, but it still had a little open space in the back and some marshes. Here you get a view of...787. You could point to the fresh coat of paint on everything as an improvement, but it seems a little half-hearted, and again, in the cool factor department, the old school wear and tear of the old place made it a bit quaint. Now the rides just seem...well, like a carnival has set up in a vacant lot next door to Huck Finn's. Particularly sad is the train ride, which we always used to start out with. It just goes in a circle around the perimeter, but you're completely separated by a fence from everything except at the two crossings. The "tunnel" is even more lame, just a big piece of corrugated sewer pipe. So, yes, you can scope out the park and the rides from the train as before, but without meandering a bit and going out of sight, it's just a kiddy ride now. They've attempted to landscape the place, but all the plantings are so new it feels, well, sort of horribly empty right now. They left behind the bumper cars, although one of the employees told me they're trying to get them back for next year. Cross your fingers. The "arcade" was always cheesy at the old place, but you basically have to walk around to the entrance of Huck Finn's proper to get to the arcade games now, not worth the diversion. (There's also a Subway, like the old place, only this one is the old one that's always been in Huck Finn.) Rather surprisingly, they seem to have exactly the same concessions as the old place. The quality was poor to middling there, and the same is true here. I was hoping they'd take the opportunity of having new facilities to improve this a little, but no such luck. I could go on, but it doesn't matter. If you take your average pre-schooler, they're not going to care or notice, which is why this still gets three stars. It's not a huge bargain as far as carnival rides go - we used up our book of tickets in less than an hour, same as we ever did -- but it's always there. It's not going to get the casual traffic the old location did on Route 9, so we'll see how it grows up. In any event, we probably won't be back - the kids might have had a few more years in them, but they both thought it was disappointing. You just can't go home again. Best of luck to them, truly, but we can't help but remember Hoffman's a little more fondly. read more

We stopped by this little amusement park during the first leg of our roadtrip. It's a little bit off the beaten path, but the GPS got us there alright. We arrived minutes before they opened. There was a rain storm expected later so we wanted to spend as much time as possible in the park. The size of this park is perfect for kids. It's not big enough to really get lost in but there's enough to keep the kids busy for hours. There is a train that chugs around the entire lot as well, which is a neat ride that the whole family can go on together. The ticket prices are great. For the money, you really can spend quite a few hours here. The rides are the carnival-type, which always give me goosebumps, but they seem well taken care of. Some of the rides look vintage, which is neat. One downside we encountered is that the ride attendants "travel". So if the child wants to go on a ride that's unattended, they have to wait until the attendant makes his/her way over to that ride. So my advice is to just follow the attendants when they move (or pick another ride). The bathrooms are in the train station. They were clean and sanitary. There is a diaper changing station on the wall, mamas. There are restrooms in the big warehouse behind the park as well. That is the furniture store that owns the park. There is a Subway restaurant in there as well, so we grabbed lunch! The kids loved being here. They were having so much fun! Then the rain came. Ugh. The rain came with such an intensity that we took cover on the train platform and couldn't get back to our car! All the rides shut down and the employees took cover as well. That was the end of that! We got drenched getting to the car, but we'll never forget it! Sometimes the biggest fails are the best memories, haha. read more

Same rides as Hoffman's Playland. Rides are 1-2 tickets per person. We came around 6pm on a Thursday and it wasn't busy, at all. Try not to go when the sun is high as there is no place for shade and it gets hot. My concern is that the old rides don't look like they have been serviced, or any pieces replaced, and as a mom it makes me nervous. Employees are ok. Looks like HS/college kids. One thing I enjoyed at Hoffman's was that the ferris wheel stopped at the top, now it just keeps going around until your turn is over. Bummer! There is one stand for food in the middle by the carosel and a booth by the train. Nothing fancy (burgers, fries, fried dough, etc). Subway is located inside the Huck Finns store along with an arcade. There are two picnic areas to eat, each covered so there's shade from the sun. There are also tables and park benches along the way to eat or rest. There is room for improvements and upgrades but all in all, it's an ok place to bring the offspring. read more

Fun place to take your kids. The rides are older rides from the 80's era which gives it a nostalgic sort of feel. My kids are younger so it's applicable for then but I'm not sure older kids in their teens would get a thrill from the rides. Definitly more geared towards younger kids. I like the layout better than the old Hoffman's layout because it's less spread out and it has a good layout in terms of walking traffic. I live going to this place with my kids during the summer due an afternoon here and there. Pricing seems fair and a booklet of riches should easily last an afternoon. You can get a booklet of tickets and a snack for under $50 so it's not all that expensive for a fun filled afternoon. read more

My toddler grands don't know or care that the playland at Huck Finn's is nowhere near the fun its previous incarnation was on Route 9. My daughter and I recently bought furniture at the store and the playland was a happy diversion for her nearly three year old. He loves the boat and other rides, while I'm a sucker for the carousel. It isn't Brooklyn's iconic Coney Island (what can compare?!) but it is a tiny slice of fun, regardless of its awful location. Ticket ride prices are just okay at eight for $15.95 and children adore the place. When Hoffman's Playland was at its previous location, it was charming and the train ride was delightful for all ages, as was the arcade. Now a small arcade is located within the Huck Finn's warehouse but feels more like a desperate attempt to put it somewhere. Nonetheless, where else in the capital district can you bribe children to go shopping with you on a drizzly rainy day at a fabulous discount place where you can satisfy shopping needs for furniture and accessories for nearly every family member, than Huck Finn's and its Hoffman's Playland? read more

We brought the kids there three times this season. The four year-old son loves it, declaring that he would like to live there. Older sister likes it but starts to get bored after an hour or so, which is all one needs to go through a 25 ticket book. Overall, I think this is a great addition to Albany. It offers a true family-friendly experience within easy range of restaurants and other attractions, like the bike path along the Hudson. Each time we visited, the crowd was large enough to make you think you're not a freak for being there but there was never more than a two minute wait for a ride. While that felt perfect to me as a customer, I hope they did well enough to keep it going. The staff are generally indifferent but if you engage them they respond in a friendly manner. Should one expect more from a group of teens running amusement park rides for young children? I like this better than the old Latham location. While one reviewer laments the highway view, I think the scenery is much more interesting than the strip malls surrounding the old place. From the top of the ferris wheel one gets a nice view of the Albany skyline and the cars zipping past on 787. The skyline is even viewable from ground level at certain places in the park, giving it a bit of an urban feel despite being on the edge of town in a warehouse district. The train ride is great for young children but bores the heck out of me. One lap takes nearly six minutes, which I think is long enough. Two laps seems like an eternity, but I remind myself of the target audience: it's for the kids, not the adults. It would be great if it was in more of a park-like setting. There's lots of asphalt and the plantings are still small so it seems very stark. Hopefully, after a few years of growth, trees will provide shade and atmosphere. read more
