The e.coli was everywhere. Some geese must have sharted everywhere... I went on the grass Shart. I went on the sand Shart. I went on the shore Shart And finally I escaped in the water Sometimes Shart. And little kids played near it with green sand all over. The staff were incredibly demanding. The new owners have pushed customers out due to no longer allowing ANY carry ins basically forcing you to buy from their bar. Not even water bottles! There was nobody out watching for the new $10 per person wristbands so we basically paid for nothing (aside from Mondays apparently) Aside from hearing about my diabetic issues, they did not allow me to bring any small snacks EVEN THOUGH they allowed me to bring in a backpack that they said we couldn't even have? It was nice to relax in and they have improved on adding a better playground for older kids, but I am not impressed with the raise in prices for everything. If you want a seasonal pass for your family, get ready to pay $150 In the bathrooms, there's black mold, hair everywhere, and white stuff on the curtains. The stalls have the BIGGEST gap I have ever seen, and I've rewatched titanic 500 times. It's almost to your knees and the curtains are transparent. My family and I visit MANY campgrounds, and I stumbled across this campground through a review on Facebook. Since someone else's review took me here, I'm hoping my review will do the same. Everyone was so friendly (staff and campers). My children instantly made friends with the other kids and were inseparable all weekend. There were so many activities for adults and children. My sister and I participated in their poker run, which was a bunch of fun. They did their first annual huckleberry Olympics, and our family had so much fun cheering everyone on, laughing and making memories! They also had fireworks (rescheduled from July 4th), and they did not disappoint. My children are begging me to go back next year, so we will definitely be returning. read more

This campground is a work in progress. Everyone was friendly and accommodating. Our spot was not mowed but it had been raining so not the campgrounds fault. You can tell the new owners are working on the park and would love to come back to see the progress in the future. Nice dog park and actually good restaurant/bar. Our Family had the best time, we had a large group and they were very accommodating! They even let us borrow an extension cord for one of our hookups! Super nice people here, and so much for the kids to do! Huge game room, activities, floaties on the lake, kayaks, disc golf etc! Bathrooms were v​​​​​ery clean and the food at the grill was great. Its hard to write a review on the campground if you do not understand the goal,before I go any further wish to thank whomever it was that contacted the state and media on our behalf, but we wish not to take that route currently. We camped there for 10 plus years, and shout out to all that made us feel welcomed,and especially our disabled son, whom always enjoyed the continuous visits by some we called family, and friends. People asked why we left but unfortunately cannot provide an answer. We certainly will not bash the campground because of the 85% of people there we still consider family and friends, we understand that sometimes when new ownership/ management come into business things are changed, some for good,some for bad, and some you just may not understand either way it happens. We do not want the standard label of a disgruntled camper and a seemingly scripted response when bad reviews are given, it sucks because our son enjoyed every minute that we were there and he asks a lot about going camping, and we decided that a permanent site is not in the near future because of how things shook out. I hear a lot about changes being made there since our departure and can only hope for the best whatever that may entail. Thanks to all that entrusted us to help with issues that arouse from camper repair, to golf cart repair and service, as it was a pleasure to help when asked. And before I forget the 15% of people that think that screen shot posts and reported back thinking that it will give you a step up, best of luck to you. The last thing we would like to see happen is the campground fail, because of people there that make it what it is. In short if you are looking for a permanent site they have availability, I encourage you to give it a try to see what its about. read more

Unfortunately the campground has gone down hill since the new owners. Everything is fenced off, prices have shared, hit or miss if the bar & grill is open for food a day the service isn't great like it used to be. Hard pass on this place if you're considering staying here. ​ read more

This used to be such a nice little campground with waiting lists to get a seasonal site. Sounds like issues with the new owners is a huge problem. There are over 60 that will be vacant for next year. There is no mini golf or frisbee golf and everything is at a cost. Im glad we left while the memories were good. read more

Me and my wife camped there for almost 3 years we had a storm that hit and destroyed our camper they never cared less about us or anything and the new owners come in and they just changed everything there's 83 campers that have moved out of there it's a dirty rotten shame we were all family there and now our family is all destroyed because of them I would never advise anybody to camp there for a weekend or a seasonal site or nothing that owner is a whack job and that is the truth read more

The food here is very good and reasonably priced. The atmosphere is friendly and well worth coming to experience. I suggest if you want to socialize with a lot of people, the weekend is your best chance (off camping season). It's under new management with everything that was, is and will be upgraded. Don't overlook this beautiful out of the way gem for relaxation and enjoyment. read more

Our families have been going here for over 50 years and love it! We have the 3 generation that comes here. A lot of good memories and fun times also. The beach is nice and clean with great food and drinks if you didn't bring any. They have a great fish fry on Friday with also a wonderful menu of other food also. They also let you bring in your own picnic. I don't know what they charge to come in and swim but it must be cheap because a lot of families come to the beach. The kids love it when they discover baby panfish swimming around their legs. We Camp here so when you wake up and walk out to a lake. Sit with your cup of coffee and relax. They have a lot of nice entertainment on the weekends at night, On Tuesdays the have local entertainment. Anyone can join in. The New owners come around and ask if we need anything or any questions. Excellent campground for families with small children. They have crafts/children activities most weekends. The swim lake has a sand bottom and not deep. Great swimming and sand beach for little ones. movie nights! Sun and shaded sites, we take our grandchildren yearly and they love it! read more

Visited here for the first time today, and I just wasn't feeling it. The lake itself is nice, with a sandy bottom, and a small sand beach. The rest of the beach area was grass, and a little too buggy for me. The bathroom was fairly clean, but you had to pay $2 if you wanted to take a shower. That's more than it costs to get into the beach area! The beach is $1.50 for everyone over 5 yrs old. But while sitting in my beach chair, I couldn't escape the greasy fryer smell of the bar directly behind us. It was a little sickening, especially since it was so hot out. The camping area didn't look that impressive, either. There's so many nice beaches and campgrounds in the area, I don't think I'd come back here. read more

We had a very unfortunate tenting experience. I checked in at the bar and was not given any instruction on where our campsite was or how to get there. I had to ask and was given a very vague response. The person checking me in was not friendly and provided no instruction. (Check out time, where to put garbage when leaving, etc.) When we arrived at our campground we found a poorly manicured lot with multiple (dangerous and huge) holes. There was a tree stand up in a tree right on our site which made us question if there were also trail cameras. It was an uncomfortable feeling to think there could've been cameras on us or that someone was hunting right there while we were camping. Next, someone went to use one of the two port o potties and found there was no toilet paper in either of them. They also had not been cleaned in a white and stunk quite badly. I don't expect port o potties to be clean but I would expect them to at least have toilet paper in them. For $156 for two nights I would expect there to at least be toilet paper included in the port o potties. We had a good first night until it starting pouring. Unfortunately when we woke up in the morning we found that our tent had caved in on us and was broken. We decided that we were going to leave. We piled our broken tent poles together and then folded the tent up and set everything on a pile. Since we only had a car that was already packed full with our food, blankets, coolers etc. we figured we would be able to just leave our broken tent at the campsite to be disposed of. Again, we weren't informed of where our garbage needed to be placed when we left so we just left it in a pile on the site.. unaware of where a dumpster was located. We stopped at the bar on the way out just to verify there was no way we could get a refund for our second night. The same person was working at the bar and interrupted me before I could even finish asking my question about a refund. She said there are no refunds. I then thought I would be nice and inform her that we had to leave our broken tent on the campsite to be thrown away. She said that was not allowed and that we needed to bring our broken tent to the dumpster (which was apparently outside of the bar aka 1 mile from where the campsite was located). I tried explaining we had no room to even bring the tent from the site to the dumpster. (We drive a car, not a truck. The car was packed full.) She told us we could not leave it on the site. We went back for it and piled it on the hood of the car and somehow managed to get it to the dumpster. In conclusion, our site was not nice and the employees were not helpful. I'm disappointed because I've tented at this location many times before and never had such a poor experience. I will not be returning and would not recommend this campground to any other tenters. read more

We stayed here due to it's proximity to the Wolf River Campground tubing (which was already booked solid for its campsites). We normally enjoy very rustic camping; no bathroom/showers and hand-pump water, but knew going in this should be more modern. Per the advertizing of 'toilets, showers, and running water' - for the tent sites, the running water was too far away to walk to, we had to drive our car to go get water. The toilets, ugh... digging a hole in the ground myself would have been much more appealling. The bathrooms were a toilet seat (smeared with human excrement, that was never cleaned) over a hole in the ground. There were spiders everywhere and there was about a 10 foot radius around the toilets that had a very strong sewage smell - I don't have a weak stomach, but another girl was not fairing too well with the putrid smell. My boyfriend said the men's was so full that the toilet "water" was splashing up and out of the basis upon use. The tent site itself was okay. It was a very large area and the sites are spread apart further than expected. The trees are all very old and very tall and provide a ton of shade, but due to their age (as cute as it does look) do not provide much mid-growth privacy/seperation from the other sites. But there is enough seperation. The picnic table provided was soggy, not from rain, but from age and mold and moss. The fire pit was quite small (like 1.5 foot diameter), but definitely usable. Get wood outside of the campground; cheaper and dryer and burns better. Despite a "midnight quiet rule", it was impossible to sleep due to the noise from other campers - particularly the campers from the permanent sites which found it an excellent idea to not disturb their other permanent site neighbors with their antics, but to keep all the tent campers up all night. There was loud golf cart engines, people screaming, lights flashing until 4-5am, just before dawn. (The permanent site campers were the only ones with golf carts, which is where i draw the conclusion that it was from them.) They were driving the golf carts & screaming & shiny the tents in the tent section (into the tents, probably by accident, I hope) all night making sleep impossible. And don't take that lightly, I am a mid-20 year old that was there to drink & party on the tubing trip and easily sleeps through thunderstorms, but sleeping through this and putting up with this was horrible! We will not be returning here. read more

I LOVED this campsite!! I have been to other camping areas and I hate the "quiet time" at 11:00. I'm an adult and like to enjoy my weekends. We have a louder group (not crazy loud) and didn't get talked to at all. It was great. Finally a place I can go to and not worry about getting hushed up at such an early time. It also has a decent size swim area (for a campground) and a bar. Whoot-whoot!! :) For sure going back. read more

This campground is perfect for young families starting out in camping or experienced adult campers taking small children unfamiliar with camping, camping. The beach is very nice, the lake clean and shallow enough for inexperienced swimmers, but deep enough to get cool. There is a small playground and minature golf. The bar and grill were very good. The bathroom facilities could use some improvement, but unnecessary if you have a full service camping unit. I took my children here for their 5th birthday to begin their camping education, and we were in a tent amongst campers as I wanted water and electric, the site was very large and we were able to put the tent under the large trees for shade. The campground isn't that big and I felt good about allowing the kids some independence to ride their new bikes up and down the road in front of the site as my view was not obstructed. The campground does need updateing(wi-Fi) , painting and general cosmetics but they are working on it. The mini golf is being re-done but the kids play area still needs help. The bar serves good food but there is no place outside to sit unless it's in the full sun on the deck. A roof over the deck or umbrellas at each table would be nice. The outdoor bathrooms are old but clean and are pumped once a week and sprayed for bugs and spiders. Having camped there many times, i have noticed an increase in golf carts driving around and an increase of drinking and partying, day or nite.Perhaps the owners should be checking this out more .The pond is great for swimming , the kids love it! Our family just spent 3 days at HACG for a family reunion. There were 56 of us camping together, the sites were clean, we really appreciated the mown lawns throughout. The beach area had nice clean sand and perfect for every age. The bathrooms were clean, plenty of toilet paper & paper toweling, no cost to shower. We had plenty of picnic tables, each site had a fire pit that was small but clean. By 10 o'clock the camp got quiet, even our big bunch stayed up late & didn't disturb any of the other campers. We all appreciated the W/E hook-ups. It was a great place to camp. read more
