Awesome campground located just along the Wolf River. We took our entire family but be prepared for a little noise. Rent a tube and you can go down the river as many times as you like. The river entrance is just a short bus ride from the campsite and ends at the same spot! A little pricey BUT with unlimited floats (same day only) it more than makes up for that. read more

This was my 4th time coming here to tube and my first time camping here. This was the most expensive campsite I have ever stayed in and it was not worth the money. The campsites have no privacy and are on top of each other. The septic truck started servicing the area at 7am Saturday morning and was extremely loud. It sounded like a tornado warning alarm. They have a 2 night minimum for camping at about $60/night so our total trip cost was $137 after fees and such. It was so loud. The river tubing line got so backed up in went to the river and back around. They raised the price to tube down the river to $26/person + a cooler tube. I might come back for a day trip, but certainly wouldn't return to camp here, too expensive for the noise and lack of privacy. The campfire doesn't have a grate, our fire pit had batteries in it upon arrival, before starting a fire we thought we had taken all the batteries out, only to start our fire and experience one explode which was very scary. read more

Been coming for years and the place has taken a serious nose dive since the new owners took over. The new owners don't like people which is a serious issue since that's their business. Prices are way up and service is way down. Bus drivers are the same ole people who are great. After that everyone is new and 16 years old working here. This campground under new ownership has gone downhill fast!! Prices have increased and services have decreased. Our group has been coming here for over 10 years and this year has hit rock bottom. The staff hasn't been trained properly in their jobs. The owner / manager is arrogant. One of our party asked about more busses when the line was backed up almost to the river and she just said don't come back then. Bar / restaurant service was extremely slow and untrained. Staff was rude when we put our garbage out by road for pick up Sunday morning as we did the past 3 days and 9 years before but then were told its a $100 charge site cleaning fee. Campers needs to put garbage in dumpsters. Exact words "Its in the rules, you should read them"!! Bus drivers were nice as always and river was great, that's all!! Were done here and moving to another area. read more

They allowed campers to play loud bulged music way past the 11pm stop time. It was disrespectful and so many kids could hear the vulgar music. Some sort of light show that kept flashing in our winders after 11 pm stop time. The lines for tubing buses were very disorganized. The river is gross. Never go back there. read more

First, there were the most obnoxious campers right across from us, which happened to be right by the campground office and bar. Their music was so loud and had foul lyrics, I couldn't believe it considering all the small children in the immediate area. This went on all day Friday until past the cut off hour of 11:00pm and resumed Saturday night, this time with a light show shining in everyone's campers and this went on until 11:30. We've been coming here for years and reserve the same spot a year in advance. It has never been like this and the loading of the busses, to shuttle you to the river, was so completely unorganized it was ridiculous. We'll be cancelling our reservation for next year and go somewhere else. read more

As a family, I would not recommend this campground. This was our worst camping experience ever. Granted it was Labor Day weekend but we felt like we were in Florida on spring break. There were drunks EVERYWHERE. Language was atrocious and you are packed in so tight (fire pits are maybe 20 feet apart), you can't avoid hearing everything your neighbors say. We booked a 3 night stay but left after one. The website states no drunkenness or profanity will be tolerated; That quiet times are from 12am-8am and will be enforced. Our neighbors showed up at 11:20 pm to sent up tents with flashlights. Then proceeded to fill over 4 air mattresses with a motorized air pump, then stayed up talking and drinking until 4am. They had 2 dogs that started barking at 5am. The next day neighbors on the other side showed up, already drunk and not able to put 3 words together that didn't have profanity. The showers were private and nice, the playground is small but the equipment was fun. As a day trip, this would be a lot of fun and we will be back for that reason, we'll just stay somewhere else. read more

Went tubing there today... it was awesome!!! A fun "socially distant" day trip! We went on the long trip, the bus ride there was quick, and off we went. Took about 4 hours, and it went by in the blink of an eye! I recommend renting the cooler tube and bringing snacks and drinks along. We took our two 14yr olds and they had a blast too. We went over Labor Day...camp sites are right on top of each other..if large group-opt for group site..We had a very memorable time..the river was slow but we met so many people on the tubes and really just partied and had fun in the sun. Younger people 20 somethings just plain having fun...not really family oriented...really more party oriented. We stayed on 213&214, the staff was amazing..spider is a great guy..the sheriff was not to happy with us at 1am Sunday morning. If you are looking to have a bachelor or bachlorette party it is definitely a different way of doing it. We arrived Friday night at 9pm and left Sunday morning at 8:30 am- 10 cases of beer, 2 bottles vodka, gallon of makers, 2 gallons kamikazes and shots on the river..we would of stayed but we ran out of drinks and it was $40.00 for a case of beer at the camp. read more

This is a really great place for tubing. We got there a little before noon on a Sunday and it was easy to find parking and the lines to pay for our tubes and pick them up. When we left it was more crowded but the lines were still moving quickly and as a bus would leave with riders the next bus would pull up quickly. The whole staff I interacted with were professional and awesome. I would recommend that you wear some sort of water shoes as you will get stuck and the river bottom is rocky. All in all a great place to cool off for a few hours with friends. read more

Wof River is a clean campground that hugs the Little Wolf River in mid-Wisconsin. It's a bitch to find because the directions from Mapquest, Google and Yahoo are all wrong. If you're coming from Chicago, get on 41 from 94, and don't get on 45 at all until after Fond du Lac. It'll cut about an hour or so off your travel time, even considering that you have to drive through Milwaukee and keep a sharp eye out for 41 for about two miles. The campground is for people who like the novelty of sleeping in tents (or campers) and grilling outside. This place isn't for the serious camper - there are no hiking trails to be found, the sites are kind of close to each other, and there is a bar with Saturday night karaoke. However, it's a great place for a family outing, as there is a small playground near the main office and a larger playground across the street for bigger kids. The main attraction here is the tubing, just floating down the Little Wolf River on an inner tube, watching the groups of 8 or 10 people trying to dislodge themselves from the rocks. Pro tip: don't have more than five rafts tied together, and try to make sure there are two people who are attached to the group but kind of away from it. That is, make sure their straps are longer (we put two or three straps together to get the length) or you'll be getting stuck far too often. If you drink on the river (they let you bring coolers), be sure to put the empty cans back into your cooler. Don't just throw them overboard. Everybody around your group will call you out on your bullshit and let you know what kind of an ass bag you are for throwing your empties in the river. All in all, good place to go if you just want to get away for a weekend but still have a place to plug in your coffee maker. Again, not for die-hard campers, but a good time for people just looking to have a good time. Oh, don't forget to bring quarters for showers - 25 cents will get you two minutes. There is also an arcade room for the kids, get ready to hear them beg for some quarters for that. read more

If you're looking for a daytime adventure in this area, tubing can be a fun way to pass a summer afternoon. (Warning, if you're trying to get away from it all and be secluded this is NOT the adventure for you as hundreds upon hundreds of people descend on this river and enjoy a lazy afternoon tubing down it). Where to begin? Well, you can rent a tube at the main campground ($11 weekday, $15 weekends) and get in line for a school bus to take you up the river. You can also rent a cooler tube if you want it (same price). Note - you can NOT bring your own tube. Unlimited bus service is included in the tube rental. They usually offer long trips or short trips, although if the river is low it will only be the short trips offered. If you float the whole way the short trip is pretty quick, 1 - 1.5hrs. You have two options - either try to get yourself stuck on rocks along the way (snagged up in the river to slow you down) or get in line for another bus ride and do it all over again. Canoes and kayaks are also available for rent. They will ask for id and give you different wrist bands if you are under/over 21. Also, NO GLASS allowed on the river -- and yes, they do check all coolers as you're getting on the bus. There is quite a bit of drunken debauchery on this river but people are usually friendly and fun. If you're going on a summer weekend, I'd recommend getting there on the earlier side (10am-ish) as there's barely a line and parking is easy then. By early afternoon the lines will be long and you'll have to park in an overflow lot and have a bit of a walk. There is also a campground here but I've never stayed at it - but given the river crowd, my hunch is that it's quite the party zone. read more

Gosh what I missed out on growing up in a city! We went today, with my boyfriend, his sister and her husband, and his mom and his stepdad. The idea was to get some inner tubes, and a few extras for the coolers of beer, attach them all together and float down the Wolf River, getting some sun and getting drunk. The campgrounds are typical to what I would imagine. Lots of kids and families, and lots of young adults, and college kids looking to stay cool while they beer bong their Miller Lite............. It's less than $10 an inner tube and after you get it, you get on a bus and they drive you up to the top of the river where you get out, get on your tube and float down. We floated down, and enjoyed ourselves and had a really good time. All the groups around us were nice, and friendly and at one point we stopped and beer bonged with some college kid parked by a rock. This is what I would imagine a hot spot during spring break for the kids at the neighboring colleges......... All in all it took about 6 hours to get down the river to the end. It would have been quicker if we weren't drunk, and if we didn't have to get out so much to maneuver around the rocks. Next time we go we are going to make sure there is more water so we can float more than we did this time. Lots of fun. Be careful though if the river isn't high, you may end up spending more time getting out of the tube and walking it around the rocks than floating as we did, since the day we went the river was LOW. read more

Our group of friends do a camping trip each year and this was, by far, our favorite so far. We loved our site, we decided to have a very off-the-map site cause we had such a huge group. We were there with other campers, but not so close to one another that we could hear their convos. Also, it allowed us to be a little more loud throughout the night. It was super buggy, but what else do you expect with trees and humidity? They day we decided to tube down the river was on Saturday and be prepared to wait a while. Once you get on the shuttle bus, its all fun from there. We ended up doing the 6 hour river experience, but the current was so strong that it was only 2 1/2 hours. They warned us beforehand, which was super nice. The river isn't super deep, so if you fall out or want to drag your feet, better watch out!! We had a blast drinking and tubing, everyone on that river is just there to have a good time and relax. Now when you are done with your tubing (you can actually hop on the bus again to go again, just fyi), you get free coins for some free food. It's like they want you to soak up the alcohol with their fried goodness. Also, their little concession booth and bar have really good prices and everyone is super friendly. Each morning we would get some coffee and they always remembered us. I can't wait to go back! read more

My family and family friends having been camping here every year since before I was born! It is a great experience with some great people! Whether you are going for a family trip, bachelor/bachelorette party, or just a friends trip it is an amazing time! Expect for things to get pretty rowdy on the river as people are drinking all day! The way we camp is not how most people would define camping. We sleep in tents but we also bring a mini fridge, coffee maker, toaster, etc. Also you can always go to the bar/restaurant, arcade/consession, and the bathrooms and showers with ease! We were there this weekend and paid $90 for tubing. Then we couldn't go tubing because there was a tornado. Not just some rain. Cars and campers were destroyed. After the tornado they wouldn't let us go tubing because the road was blocked and they couldn't drive to the launch area. After the roads were cleared, we couldn't go because they were opening a dam upstream. In short we couldn't go because this business couldn't provide the service we paid for. They refused refunds and refused a free trip at a future date. In fact they were quite unpleasant when we asked. I realize they have a no refund policy but I believe a tornado is an extraordinary situation that deserves a deviation from policy. It was their inability to provide a service, not my lack of wanting to do it. read more

I'm surprised there aren't more reviews considering how popular this place is. To get here follow the GPS and pull into the entrance right behind a single family home. Next drive until you see a cross walk, turn immediately left and drive up the hill. There will be parking off to the left for Tubers. Walk down the hill towards the river. You will go down some steps (bar to your left buses to your right). Enter through the tinted doors and grab a piece of paper on the tables. These are your liability waivers. Once signed you can pay and get your tubes, bus lines are pretty obvious. From years of doing this I recommend a few things: -Don't bring your favorite pair of designer glasses, 90% chance of losing them if you plan on getting drunk -Bring only necessities because there really isn't storage room for stuff -Bring sunscreen with you and use a lot of it, not much shade on the river. You don't want the redneck tan (aka sunburn) -Stay away from the edges, there is a weird fungus that grows and can make you sick (I have not personally experienced but just look up news articles, it was totally a thing) -There is a party island about half way through the short trip, towards then end. Everyone links up tubes and shares drinks and you see some hilarious stuff, some of the best people watching -If you aren't driving bring more beer or plastic bottles full of booze than you think you need. Others will run out and you can look like a cool kid or you will run out and it will be a bummer big time! -Don't bring glass bottles or cups etc. it will get confiscated and you will look like a fool -Medium size groups (4-8) are the most fun, large groups get stuck too much and small groups don't drink as much. -Check the water levels before you go on their website, sometimes it can get really high (really fun) or really low (you end up walking most the way) -Plan on getting there early on holidays -Know that everyone pees in the river so don't drink the water ya dummy -You can bring your dog, at least I've seen others with dogs -Buy a waterproof box for your keys and valuables -Don't throw the keys to shotgun a beer, what are you, stupid? Pretty much my favorite Wisconsin summer activity, respect others and the river and this will be around for a very long time. read more

Been going here for tubing trips since I was a kid almost 30 years ago and have great memories. More recently have been making it a point to bring my family so they could experience it too but am giving 2 stars because 2 of the past 4 years we have come they have closed the long trip. Not being interested in boozing or being clumped with other groups of tubes on the river, its significantly less fun to be forced to the short trip only. The website has a nice guide which shows water level and when the long trip can be expected to be open but it's not very transparent or honest. Today's water level was at 1.52 feet and the guide states that between 1.25 and 1.55 ft the long trip takes 5 hours or may be closed. If you are going to close at 1.52 ft you might as well get rid of the "may be" closed and just tell people that under 1.55 ft the long trip is closed. Gonna have to start looking around the area for other tubing trips I guess.... read more

After several years visiting Wolf River Trips and we have always had a blast until this year when septic tank backed up in the bathrooms causing all of the SEWAGE TO SEEP UP THROUGH THE GROUND ON OUR SITE! Our site was 127, so BEWARE! We were also attacked by some type of bugs (not mosquitoes, maybe flees?) leaving with hundreds of bits on our feet and ankles! The bathrooms were not clean at all! I felt foolish when I told the people that came with for the first time how clean everything is and then it turned out this way! read more

I love tubing! This was a 2 and a half hour drive from home. I was originally booked at the Rustic Site which is about 2 and a half miles away from the main campground. They said there was a shuttle provided a few times a day. I called a few days as well as emailed back and fourth with an employee. They gladly switched me to site 80 at the main grounds. The staff was so nice. The site was decent. Very close to neighboring sites which is great for making new friends! The river was nice. The trip lasted way longer than I was expecting. Or maybe it just felt really long. I banged my knees up pretty bad on the rocks. I am so freaking sore and exhausted from the trip! But it was worth every second. The bar was pretty loud into the night, seemed like everyone was having a blast. Not sure how they could keep partying after the tubing. The reason for the 4 star and not five was because I paid $17 for a 12 pack of Budweiser from the bar. But you gotta pay for convenience. I got lost at night and couldn't find my camp site and the friendly owner helped me find my way. Have a great summer!! read more

We brought a group of 35 middle school age kids for the long canoe trip. Brenda and her staff did an amazing job! They helped make all the kids and counselors feel comfortable and prepared from the minute we arrived until the last of the group was off of the river. Would definitely recommend them to other groups looking for an outing like this. read more
