After you enter the building there is a ticket office on your left, and two ticket machines on your right. There is also a small shop with drinks, snacks and newspapers (or you can just grab a free copy of Metro, if you fancy). There is an underground passage to platforms from 4 to 8. There are also two pubs in the same building as the station. I really like this station - it's small, but has a very nice feel.

There are pubs close by, with one even attached to the station, and a small (and expensive) shop. Trains generally run quite well from here, with routes from Liverpool to Leeds usually running on time. The underground walk between tracks is a little scary though, and could do with being made a little less so - maybe by more of a presence of security cameras or staff under there. I have very positive memories of this station as it always has a nice feel - whether leaving or staying the station has never left me with a bad impression.

Bradford Interchange is one of two train stations serving Bradford's city centre. Bradford is such…read morean exciting city with so much money and investment being spent on it over the past few years to the point where it's now been awarded the UK City of Culture for 2025, it really does seem they've left Bradford Interchange behind. Bradford Interchange, as suggested by the name is a transport interchange station for bus and rail services, although to avoid confusion with nearby Bradford Forster Square, railway companies will refer to the station as a whole, as Bradford Interchange. In terms of passengers, Bradford Interchange is the most used train station in the city, ahead of Forster Square. The station is managed by Northern Trains and the West Yorkshire Metro (Owned by the West Yorkshire Combined Authority). The majority of railway services are served by Northern Trains, but Grand Central also provide services from this station. The station looks fairly unique from the outside due to the roof, which looks unlike most other train stations I've visited, however as you get inside it just looks and feels run-down and dirty, especially in the main square of the station. The platforms were fine, unlike any other station in a small city or large town across England. I used the station most recently on a trip from Hull, it was fairly easy to navigate the station from getting off the train to the exits, although it is fairly small so would be more difficult to get lost than anything else. A lack of staff around the station is also sad to see, the only staff member I managed to find across the whole bus and train station was a toilet cleaner. PRO TIP: Make sure you carry change if you want to use the toilet as they are not free, otherwise you may be able to gain access to the accessible toilet which does not require payment. Again, strongly against this, you shouldn't have to pay to pee... there's a lack of public toilets as there is and it is only going to encourage public urination, and just doesn't feel right to me. 2* - Certainly struggling from a lack of investment and has seen better days, while providing useful services into the city, and the location of the train station is in close proximity to all of the city's shops and tourist attractions, it just needs vast improvement.

There's a Greggs, WH Smith and a small newsagent-y kind of shop here. Nothing memorable, nothing fantastic. There was a flower stand right outside for all tos elast minute gifts and plenty of taxis as you exit so great for making a quick escape from such a drab place. The carpark/drop-off area didn't seem very large and the station is actually a little hidden from the main part of Bradford. The metal seating was painted red but that's as colorful and warm as the station gets. Trains run frequently enough to Leeds, not sure why else you would need to come here.

Wakefield Westgate might be one of my favourite railway stations. It is a small but busy station…read moreand reminds me a bit of an airport in that way. It has got only two platforms that are in use, but there are trains coming and going all the time. What I really like about Wakefield westgate is that it has a lot of facilities: there is a manned info point, a cafe, a ticket office and a rather expensive shop where you can buy magazines, drinks (% also) and sandwiches. Outside the station the is a taxi waiting point and an ATM. There are also toilets, but I must say that they are very small (the mens, dont know about the other one). I also like the 'A Light Wave' artwork created by Charles Quick - makes the station recognisable in a split second.

Our friends who are in their 80 came to visit us via Westgate station and had booked assistance to…read moreget on and off the train. They were coming from Norwich and had 1 change, all worked until Wakefield where the message to help hadn't got through. They tried to get off the train but didn't manage in time and ended up in Leeds. I spoke to a lovely man who helped them off and then another helped them at the end of their stay. The Selby Train station is located on Station road just behind the bus station on Bawtry Road…read more Opened in 1834 by the Leeds and Selby Railway it was the first station to be built in Yorkshire. Behind what is now the station, the original station used to be a shed by the waterside in which passengers would alight the train and walk across the road to the connecting boat on the river. The line is run by First TransPennine Express and has 3 stations. There are regular routes to Hull, York, Leeds, and Manchester with the new fast trains to London. You can buy your tickets at the station and there are waiting room and a small warm café.

Leeds station is currently undegoing a bit of a make over and there's a large section by the main…read moreentrance that's screened off while they get things finished. In the meantime all the platforms are still open as well as the ticket offices and information desk and almost all of the stores and cafes are still going strong. In terms of those stores and cafes they have what you might expect in most large stations; think Millie's Cookies, Upper Crust, M&S, Boots, Body Shop, WHSmiths and so on. Most platforms have at least one indoor seating area and some have cafes and vending machines too. This is a good thing, as it can certainly get a bit chilly on the platforms from time to time. It's quite a big station, with 17 platforms, many of them divided into sections. So if you're getting a smaller train, it's not likely to stop at all of platform 9 - it'll just be at platform 9B, for example. This is really handy because it means you know exactly where to wait and you don't end up legging it down the platform when you realise that only the front two carriages are actually going to go anywhere. The down side is that you can end up getting off the train very far away from the station exit when you arrive in Leeds.

I hadn't planned on stopping at Saltaire, but when my train from Leeds to Keighley stopped here, I…read moresaw the station sign which boasted that Saltaire is a World Heritage Site. I knew I'd have to make a stop here on my way home. I love that this small station is so close to all the sights of Saltaire. The Visitor Information Centre is across the street from the station and next to that is the Salts Mill which is now a fantastic gallery of David Hockney's works, an artist's shop, a book shop, a restaurant, and so much more! You'll have to go across to the Salts Mill if you need a drink or snack. This station is so small, there really is nothing there but the train tracks and covered waiting areas on both sides.
